  • Another typical day in the life, but a weirdly easy one at the start!
    The gift and the curse of being a boiler breakdown engineer is that often, no two days are the same and you never know what you’re going to come up against!
    An easy day here with a couple of spanner’s thrown in the works for good measure!
    From a noisy shower pump to a boiler losing pressure, there’s all types here!
    Thanks for watching!!

    The hot water to the towel rails is how they used to do it, I've seen It loads of times, normally big old houses, have you never came across it before mate? The towel rails need to be brass though otherwise will rot them through

      @@allycoates24 oh really, nope, never, so what, literally it’s tap water running through the rads? How do you even control it? These were standard towel rails so won’t last long I guess 😂

      @@RJHeating yeah mate, they are normally on a timer and linked to the secondary domestic pump and are linked to the secondary return circuit, so should only come on when secondary return is on, and yes will rust in no time 👌👍

    Could you not put an extension on the valve instead?

      Yeah, probably would have worked but I was able to return the next day anyway

    Ive come across quite a few systems (s and y plan) where the towel rails were on the hot circuit to the cylinder but that one was a first. Off the hot water outlet😵🤦🏼‍♂️

      Honestly, it’s so strange! Direct cylinder in there - looks like it’s piped off the secondary return 🤯🤯

      @ haha tell me about it! I love it round there though - went to school there etc!
      It’s so strange, I don’t even understand how it works is the shower water just quickly taking a stop off around the rads before coming to you 😂

      @ yeah they must have just gradually warmed up! I work over Kensington and Chelsea but all the little back doubles are locked off now so theres no quick way🤷🏼‍♂️

    How do you set it up to use rad as temp vessel?

    • @RJHeating

      Drain the rad out and open the bleed point for it to suck air in - it’s a very temporary measure, although I have known them to be left like that for years 😂

  • @monirhussain1226

    Expansion vessel you could have repaired it. I’ve used a small screw and screwed it in and then use pliers to pull it out

    • @RJHeating

      @@monirhussain1226 yeah, potentially, but if it didn’t work or with time spent faffing, was quicker and cheaper to source and fit a used one

    How did you come to the conclusion the sensor was blocked I’ve watched the same part over a few times and still don’t understand 😅

    • @RJHeating

      No, I said “no signs of debris, so it’s not blocked” often when they’re blocked you can bash the muck out of them or at least feel solid when you’re pushing in.
