    Quality bit of kit, I woke up in a puddle once in mine by the coast from all the sea spray and was completely dry inside, sleeping bag was dry, ATB 👍

    Yeah great bits of kit . Dependable , I think is the word . I have the old dpm version and it's not let me down . Take care Andy 👍

      I've got the dpm bag too. NZ isn't as cold as the uk, but I've slept in 0°c rain and woke up moderately damp with a synthetic bag. Had no idea til I checked in the morning

      @@darryllzwiers7257 Not had that problem with it but I know in certain conditions a little condensation can occur .

      No problem, as far as I'm aware the DPM version is the same manufacturer and same goretex so should be good. The feeling of freedom with bivvy camping can't be beaten.

    I changed my cord to a bunge cord and never had a problem
    Used mine for years never leaked just find somewhere and place it out and good to go
    Advise one use a tarp with it and it's bomb proof 😂

    Did you replace the drawstring cord in your British army Bivvy as mine is next to impossible to draw closed? And if so how did you go about it??

    • @AndysEastCoastAdventures
      @AndysEastCoastAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used paracord. You can also make it easier with the original cord by waxing it.

      I have the same problem. I thought mine was faulty until I saw you comment.

    Got mine today and waxed the chord. Looking forward to getting out for a bit.

      Not the lighttest but certainly the best.

      @@AndysEastCoastAdventures I don't mind the weight. I've done some decent nights out with it now. Together with a basha it really is awesome.

    You can not go wrong with a good bivy! From experience though avoid the Mil-tec ones as they are complete garbage.

    • @AndysEastCoastAdventures
      @AndysEastCoastAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems that anything made by them is from what I can gather. Be mad too buy one as you can pick these up at god prices. I've also got the dutch army version which is also quality kit.

      @@AndysEastCoastAdventures no, not all Mil-tec is garbage. I rucked one of their assault packs for years with no issues and now my oldest son uses it and I have another small ruck by them that I really like as well. The ponchos have also been really good over the years for me. It is just hit or miss depending.

    Hi Andy. I've got the exact same bag in MTP too, and can vouch for the watertightness. I have to ask though - how the heck do you get your drawstring to work ike that? I replaced the original 'bootlace' with both paracord and bungee cord and it's still a nightmare to cinch it up/slacken it out quickly and efficiently. What's your secret? Cheers. Rich.

      Melt wax on the string and run it through a few times. Fabric has always been soft though and never had any problems.

    • @AndysEastCoastAdventures
      @AndysEastCoastAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Beeswax will do the same too.

      @@CottonBud No problem, you can get soft wax in cans designed for applying to barbour type outdoor clothing. It's good for keeping zips lubricated too.

      Andy's East Coast I had a go with the beeswax I use to dubbin my boots and it worked a treat - thanks again!

    Where did you buy yours from?

    • @AndysEastCoastAdventures
      @AndysEastCoastAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ebay, always plenty their or in the online surplus stores. Try to get supergrade or un-issued if you want like new or Grade 1 is used but in good order.

    Nah it can't be a real army bivvy. You cinched it closed with no trouble at all 😂😂😂😂😂😂

      @AndysEastCoastAdventures  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wax on the string, makes it easy to cinch up. Funnily enough a few people have mentioned this.

      @@AndysEastCoastAdventures Thanks for the tip. Yeah, the lace is awful. Great bag though
