My Dad used to work at what at General Motors before it became Eastmont Mall which means there were jobs for people there. I grew up in the 70’s - 80’s when the Mall was booming in business. Every kind of store was in there including the theater and the food court. Now everything is run by the government like he says. The Mervyn’s clothing store has been replaced by a police substation many years ago but I’ll always remember when it WAS’NT. Everything’s just about taken over by the government now - just as he says. Sad to me 😞
TO ALL VIEWERS: Visualpeeks has a good point. On the other side is DD Clothing, a grocery store, another clothing store, Bank of America, Auto Zone. a convenience coffee shop & a Taco Bell. BootLeg CDs are also sold in the parking lot. Thank you Visualpeeks!
TO ALL VIEWERS: My overall point for the video was to show that most of the Eastmont Mall is a government service center so, like most government agencies, most of the Eastmont Mall is closed on the weekends and holidays. The images and narrative show the vacant lot at an inner city mall, yet at malls with private businesses the weekends are the busiest time of the week. The East Oakland Times believes government does more harm than good in the inner city.
