    When climbing an incline, trucks that fall below the posted speed limit put on their flashers :)

    I just finished playing ATS and drove from Las Vegas NV to Prince George BC and notice all the mistakes on road too, there was a telephone pole in middle of highway by Seattle lol almost hit it. It sure nice to see you play. Do you watch Allie Knight channel? If not you will have to. She drives a Pittsburg 579 and she travels all over the USA lower 48 states with a cat, lots of fun. Well keep on trucking and I can't wait for Arizona to come out.

    @WalkingAccountant 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    BC does have the highest speed limit in Canada at 120 Km/H. so that's pretty accurate of the mod. and the mountains are pretty realistic to have snow on them as well. Whistler BC is all snow on the mountains.

    @lukaslrg216 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    When trucks are going very slowly up a hill they use their hazards. Also you should use the engine break when you're slowing down more often. Much less wear on the breaks. Just being realistic. Also switch to the eaton fuller transmission in settings if you haven't already :)

    I'll be doing about half this run tomorrow (only in a pickup mind you), stopping in 100 mile house. most of it is more lush than depicted and there are no big mountains near Prince George, it just gets cold in the winter because it is on a high plateau.

    Great video!
    Yeah there are large portions of the USA where cities are few and far between. But if the East Coast is modeled at all it should be much like the ETS maps as the distances are shorter between population centers.
    The climates vary widely in the USA too so I hope SCS can model the vastly different conditions from place to place (and get some weather too).
    Also LOL at the absolute lack of trees in Canada. And the deserts of British Columbia are so awesome LOL!

    Wow! 3-lane highway to up here in Prince George? Do I get to look forward to this on my next journey to Vancouver in real life?
    Also, I didn't realise the logging industry was cutting down that many trees on the way...
    At least this episode gave me a chuckle.

  • @DarkDeLaurel
    @DarkDeLaurel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    +Squirrel Use the Engine retarder/Jacobs brake! Lol, in my years of driving trucks in Canada we don't have transmission retarder. I had a on look up what that was when I started playing ETS, even my friends down in the USA had no idea.
    I will say the mountains and road to Prince George didn't quite look like it should, as that's a fairly hilly trip, although the corners they throw at you look about right, the road planners in British Columbia and here in Alberta seem to love doing stuff like that. It's especially fun with a tri-tri (no drop down a else all powered) 😕.

    • @CowSausages
      @CowSausages 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here in Ontario with a five axle truck(one steer, two straight lifts and two drives) and four axle pup is scary enough. Hope you know how to use the air regulator for the lift axles...

    • @DarkDeLaurel
      @DarkDeLaurel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CowSausages ya I work oil field so don't deal with drop axles, when in say tri-tri it's the steer, three drive and three on trailer. Luckily enough I don't deal with pups, now guys that do have no wish to do it ha. I'm almost always loaded as it is trailer mounted equipment so there is no going fast, just slightly faster than before 😋

      @CowSausages 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    22min mark roughly, when that truck almost hit you. It was because you both had a stop sign/stop line. I believe that is why he stopped and then nearly went into you.

    In Canada like in the EU the speed limits are posted in KM. The norm is usually 100km however it can be 110km in some Provinces.

  • @jmgobeli
    @jmgobeli 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should know that in America if a truck is going slower than 45mph they must have their hazard lights flashing. Just something that you can put in your videos.

    • @Ladderthief1
      @Ladderthief1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jmgobeli I've never seen that.

    • @jmgobeli
      @jmgobeli 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ladderthief1 Thy do this to warn drivers behind them that they are driving slower than the posted limit, and that themselves are a hazard due to the slow speed. So as to not have anyone rear end them they warn drivers by using their hazard flashers. They also use their hazard flashers if the traffic is slowing or if there is a danger up ahead to warn drivers behind them of the pending danger. I hope this better explains the use of hazard flashers with large trucks.

    • @Ladderthief1
      @Ladderthief1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jmgobeli I know that. I meant I've never seen a truck doing it. But I don't doubt it.

    BC resident here: That map shows potential but is clearly FAR from finished, first and foremost: there are NO multi lane highways between Kamloops and Alberta, also missing are the cities of Hope and Revelstoke both of which are major truck stops. The hills and tight bends however are mostly accurate. Also the roadside scenery is obviously unfinished MORE MOUNTAINS!!!

  • @MuscleCarLover
    @MuscleCarLover 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason why you're using so much fuel is because you're constantly over revving it, the area where the most torque and efficiency is at 1000 to 1500 rpm with about 200 rpm leeway either side

    • @jairussam365
      @jairussam365 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      can't help much with such incline and 40t..

    • @MuscleCarLover
      @MuscleCarLover 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then shift at 1700 instead of 1500, you need torque to pull things, and after 1500 the torque rapidly drops. Just check out Fulltilt503's heavy haul videos, he manages just fine. You don't want to over rev it.
      Fun fact: If you over rev a Volvo truck, it voids the warranty, my uncle made the mistake of lending his Volvo to someone one day, and because the black box recorded that it was over revved the day it was lent out, there was no warranty anymore

      no they don't, trucks normally always stay in the right hand lane (in America), especially when climbing a hill way under the speed limit. where do you see them always in the middle lane? or do you mean if they have an oversized load?

    I thought the speed units in Canada were metric not imperial (km not miles) Also, they have provinces instead of states... I remember breaking down for real near Lake Louise on our way to Jasper in Alberta when touring with a band! Stranded at -10*C and waking up in the morning with blue lips surrounded by moose! Weird!

    I keep having massive truck crashes because my game keeps minimizing itself but act's like it's not minimized or out of focus so my truck just keeps driving without me being able to to do anything about it then I find myself in massive crash :( only fix I've found is windowed mode and it's not as immersive and it stutters from time to time I suspect those stutters would be when it would be minimizing if it were in full screen.

      It is, but I suppose it will become more interesting with time. Default ATS map is just too small.

    After reading all the comments, it seem the viewers are not aware this map is all cut/pasted from the ATS default map. That is why there is an American flag in Prince George, the roads are the wrong speed limit and mph/kph, and there is southwestern bushes and a water tower at the truck stop/weigh station. None of the content is custom. All cut and pasted from ATS, including EVERY City. Yes, it's a badly done map. But it is somewhere to drive, until a better map comes along. It is best driven at night! Happy Trucking. ;)

      very true it's something to drive lol but I heard there's not many people at SCS like 20-30 so understandable it takes them ages to get new portions of the map out

    • @MrHamof
      @MrHamof 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jacob Hidalgo He should probably have an "All stop!" button that triggers every brake he has available that isn't a parking brake. (Activating the parking brake while at 80 MPH is a really bad™ idea right? Not a driver here so I'm not actually sure.)
