Watching that skeleton catch its own skull and plop it back on like he was putting his hat back on was baller af. I would have let him go just for that alone. lol.
Had a gryphon fly away while I was on its back, put a powder charge in its neck and rode that kamikaze flight straight back to the ground. Wasn’t even mad about spending the wakestone because that was one of the most badass things I have seen in this game!
I'd also recommend taking on underleveled pawns to increase the difficulty! This way you're also helping those pawns get a lot of extra knowledge they wouldn't have otherwise when they go back to their own worlds!
This. I grew so attached to a specific pawn that even in my 40s I'm still chillin with a 20s. Level. I'm specifically speaking of levels. Happens to be our healer too, so I at least spec'd her gear up as a gift to the player as well since they were still in their 20s.
The problem with pawns is that the players overload them with skills and then their AI does useless things. Never put all 4 skills on them, don't even unlock all core skills, which augments you use on them also determines their playstyle. e.g. my sorcs get all the stamina passives and tanky passives so they just spam those high lvl spells all day long.
@@rhodan74 I think the inclination of a pawn dictates their AI behaviour more. Kindhearted healers prioritize healing, while straightforward pawns are more aggressive. I don't care about high levels or op skills, I prefer a pawn with a good personality. lol
I really enjoy watching my pawn run up to the enemy I just attacked just to grab him onto his shoulder running away and throwing him at the next best enemy xDDD
Use the augment from trickster that makes the beep when you are looking for it. Go back to the area you think you got it in and follow the path you took. Find all the seeker tokens and wake stones in the area.
Who wouldn’t do that? It’s a gimme like everyone has the ingredients to make that even if they haven’t picked up a single thing their pawns will have so you say “please” as if anyone would not do it
Another Tip. Took me sometime to figure it out. You can get on the Monsters Head, then stop grabbing, so you can stand on it, and then the heavy attack button will do a reeeeaaally heavy strike. And if the Monster is Knocked Down while you do it, it will do near to Half Health bar damage.
thats critical hitting and works if you special attack (press y on xbox idk for anythin else) on the weak points of giant monsters while downed or by pressing y while behind smaller creatures, i havent played long but i know whenever my thief does that to a goblin it does a little backstab animation and its almost always a one shot.
You can also chain combos with grapple in some cases. For example, if you are archer, you can run-jump tackle enemy to the ground, stab it a few times, then if you kick it, you will repell yourself with a backflip and you can shoot mid-air arrow that gets bonus dmg... Is it required to do that? Nope, but it is truly satisfying xDD
yeah this is almost too powerful. I had to stop using it in certain areas because it literally creates explosions and kills too many enemies before my thief can rob them. ice is the better move unless you need to just waste them and damage as much as possible
few words of advice on this, while obviously not speaking for all the dd community, most useful to get your pawns hired is not wacky looks as the game has many physic and other mechanics, a wacky pawn is not useful if it hinders its mobility or other things, useful pawns late game speacially later if dlc will be knowledgable pawns, use tactics and let them see weakeneses of enemies, a good looking pawn or funny looking pawn doesnt garantee that experience getting hired by someone that doesnt teach it anything and getting the badges doesnt mean the pawn will be useful to you, do make it stand out, but later on make it stand out by what it can do not how it looks, in dd1 most goofy pawns late game werent very useful even if maxed out. Another thing your behaviour teaches the pawns and viceversa, learn from higher level pawns and always check their experince not the level only but what they know and what they have as tactics, with only 4 days in this wont show yet but later it will, cheap tactic pawns will try to cheese some monsters but wont have any idea of what to do if there are 5 mosnters with different tactics on. finally just a not while the game is realistic in some aspects, cross that one out, the game is verisimil in its own world, some elements affect in ways according to how the world is a good example is anodyne being a light spell affecting undead, use lighting agains cyclops, and a lighting arrow to the eye is the best way to them, saurian get affected by cold not because of the scales but because of the moisture, and hair on ogres, actually 3 arros in his throat are more effective, and ice is needed for elder ogres instead of fire, in case dlc brings them back again, just for a few examples.
You don't even need your main pawn with you; you can chuck them into a brine and go solo until you activate a riftstone. The downside is that they probably don't get hired much because they know nothing, so you lose a source of income of rift crystals.
You don’t need to throw your pawn off of a cliff to avoid fall damage. Instead, tackle them. Get a running start, jump, then hit the grab button. You nor the pawn will take any damage as you “Pawn-Surf” your way down the otherwise lethal fall. Enjoy!
ensnare + pilfer is an incredible combination also. drag them and then rob while they're still in midair. when they land on the ground, heavy attack for basically instant extermination

Best video I've seen about this game. I'm loving the game (started playing a few days ago) and your video helped a lot to improve the FUN. Thank you Sir!
My warfarer build. Warrior with Heavenly Sunder(just for style you can replace this with whatever you want), Indomitable Slash for sweet sweet damage to weak points. Paired with Magick Archer for flying enemies. Only thing you need is Sagittate Avalanche. I use Ice Bow for the utility to proc ice debilitation so I can use Indomitable slash when a monster isn't knocked down. Augments; Zeal, Provocation, Dominance, Lethality, Exaltation and Constancy. I use the Disfavor Ring to keep aggro paired with Provocation(don't need bellow) and ring of Profusion so I can stay Light load. This is just my own build, it's probably not optimal, it's mainly for fun. The fashion from warfarer is simply peak. Killing things while being fashionable is the essence of Dragon's Dogma and any RPG game. The game is easy enough without having to min/max so hard. It's got everything I want for tankiness and reliably deal with aerial opponents. The augments are just relevant to what I want to do. I want to take aggro, knock down a lot, resist any knockdown while charging attacks, stamina management and stamina efficiency with Zeal/Exaltation. The ultimate skills are insanely strong so I didn't really want to use them for the sake of prolonging fights thats why I decided to go Warfarer. Arc of Might just evaporates health and the Ultimate Magick Archer skill is an auto win basically, especially if you have extra Allheal Exilirs on hand.
Target weak spots, for example, the Cyclops eye instead of his belly :) But most importantly, look for a tank that has a provoke active skill and the provoke passiv from fighter. Remember that every class can use every passive as long as you learned it, so the warrior can have it, too. And for the rest of the group, use the raffinesse passiv from level 2 tief. Now it's very likely your healer and range are saved.
Re: elemental damage, my main pawn is an archer and I've given her 2 kinds of elemental damage skills and equipped her with corresponding arrows, and she'll swap them out so she always uses the right ones against the right enemies. But the coolest thing is she only learned this after fighting those monsters at least once. Pretty cool that the AI pawns "learn" stuff too.
A secret tip/trick for new players and old though older players may need to do a newgame plus again or get gifted one from me or a friend. When you get the Gaol(Jail) key from brant, you will need 5400g exactly or 5200 gold and a ferrystone aswell as the vernworth rift active so you can ferry back to vernworth after, you will want to pay for a cart to checkpoint rest town for the forger, forge the gaol key, this is a 1/1 ratio giving you 2 gaol keys for a days wait(4 rests on a bench which can be found near the forger) this gives you 2 gaol keys so any of those pesky locked gaol doors you find wont be an issue, you will still have a key after finishing the magistrates quest from brant as he only asks for one key back. So far ive gifted 8 keys to random lvl 15-20 pawns given a lot of new players may not have figured this out
Another secret tip for new players and older ones, when you start a newgame plus, you should still have the godsbane in your personal inventory after you first meet brant, do not store it as it will delete itself cause the game registers it as a quest item, you can use this to activate the door to get to volcano island in your newgame+ instead of having to fight the monsters in the dungeon
5:37 Gryphins are also REALLY weak to raw fire damage, so if you're running sorceror, conflagration so it knocks down and won't fly away, then Salamander under its knockdowned body to just OBLITERATE it's healthbars.
I played through the game until reaching the desert kingdom with just my main pawn. Being jumped at by a dozen goblins while flying bitches poison me finally convinced me to hire more.
You can tackle enemies that are not aware of you OR from the back w/o them having to be staggered. Not always needed to cut off tails or interrupt them. Jump tackle is the same as normal tackle, it just looks cooler. At lvl30+ just use low level weapons and throw your pawn into the brine -> hardmode activated.
on my third new game + now, and running solo or with only my main pawn is definitely the way to go. No pawns nets you way more experience too. It is so much better for late game exp gains. Especially if you get "EXP blessing from the Dragonforged" and use the "Medusan Spellbow" while going solo, and wearing those "EXP rings from the sphinx" that boosts this even further. talking 40,000+ exp on monsters who were only giving me like 8,000 exp before. "This is the way" - Mandalorians
On the subject of interesting pawns: The Beastren Thief Skoomalad has been my best friend since the day I found him. Not only is he a blender, but he provides me with plenty of... medication
Jumped onto a griffin and two of the pawns jumped on with me. We finally made it fall and it fell right on a group of 3 golems and it turned into cat and mouse hitting them all and then reviving the pawns and then back to hitting them. Went through all of my healing supplies and finished the fight with only one pawn and about 30 hours according to the stats. Good times
Super tip on the grab-pulling of feet! I read the tooltip, but never did it come across to utilize it that way. XD I was literally climbing on the monster to find out how it procs, but it never did. Thanks for that specific one cos it's hella cool! XO
Let me tell you a useful one, check the eyes of your pawns when you sleep at inn or your house. If they are glowing red, dismiss them. You'll thank me later.
Had to use my pawns as makeshift weapons when I did a quest where I had to fight quite a few people (and my pawns couldn’t help because they were incapacitated) because I was playing as the trickster 🥲 it took so long so another tip is if you think there’s going to be a fight that you might have to do alone, don’t play as the trickster (unless you want to throw your pawns as weapons)
To revive lots of NPCs, get the eternal wakestone. Take it to the forger, and you can make endless perfect copies. Now you can revive town after town after town… no more will you need to “Old Yeller” your possessed pawns!
I’m a new dragon Goma to player at first I played it and it took me three days to beat but then I didn’t realize the quest that were hidden in the mission so now I am currently replaying it from the time that I was in the tavern, I did try to fight the dragon And almost beat him at the level 31 then I looked that up to find out that you have to fight the dragon at level 40 it’ll be easier
Okay guys quick tip on the immune don’t spam ur heals if the enemy constantly hits u if u don’t have a lot of max hp it u spam it while their swinging you’ll be stun locked wasting a lot of heals trying to get up u can wait a few seconds before fully dying before using ur heals
I think all of us you refused to see spoilers and help videos, learned the hard way about the save system. Fortunately it was inly 2 hrs if play lost for me that i had to go back on. 😂😅
If you raise affinity with a vendor theyll give you permanent discounts, just fyi. Thats why quest npcs that are vendors give you discounts afterward, the affinity bump
Not a big, always was like this. Auto save and manual save are exactly the same. Manual save is only a way of force the autosave, but if you do a manual one and then happens that an auto save occurred, it will smash your manual save. Same with house and camping. Only real Hard save in DD franchise is the Inn
Anyone else made a bridge out of a cyclops? Knock one down on a broken bridge. If the other half of the bridge is reasonably close the cyclops grabs it holding on for dear life while his legs are still on the other half. Instant bridge. He'll hang on for about 20 seconds... So you can run across. Hilarious 😂
The fact that you can lose total hours of progress due to the reset checkpoint button or non-permanent campfire saves happened to me just before watching this video and fortunately I lost "only" 2 hours of progress that I recovered by rushing and getting pissed off, this campfire mechanic is not fully explained in detail and so the real ultimate save is only to be made in places where you rest such as inns. Man it was terribly frustrating, some things should be translated better. Checkpoint does not have the same meaning as other games here. But heck, this game is really keeping me glued to the gamepad by how well done and polished the gameplay is Anyway great video finally someone explains these things that the game doesn't even tell you.
Yeaah I thought i was stuck, so I loaded up the last Inn Rest instead of recent autosave and it sent me back to fr the very beginning village 💀 Then once u make that choice your screwed, all progress deleted lol. but yeah game is deff worth it tho 🗿
I have been saving from the option in the pause menu and haven't had any issues so far. I just use "save & continue" while in game and "save and return to title menu" before I stop
There is one tip that I wish you would’ve discussed that I’m having trouble finding. Is direction of your pawn to climb and get a chess or fly up to an area because you can’t. I saw it on one video. I really did pay attention to it but now I can’t find it anywhere.
yup the rest at inn/house thing is big. I lost about 10 hours myself messing this up, i got captured in the magistrate mission and wanted to retry, the auto reloaded me into prison and the last inn was 10 hours ago. I restarted the game anyway since my first character had a womans grunt for some reason lol
I'm sure they will add more feature such as difficulty options and removed adaptive difficultly imo plus autosave gotta be more frequent like in the first game it helps a lot of players not having to run all the way to their quest locations. Sorry for writing so much lol have an awesome day

on my third new game + now, and running solo or with only my main pawn is definitely the way to go.
Not only is he a blender, but he provides me with plenty of... medication
Great video homie 👍
Naiice 💪
thanks dude
Also drenched enemies will take more damage from lightning attacks I believe
"Drenched...for some reason". Couldn't be because it's raining.
Great video you earned a subsciber.
Welcome aboard!
Wow, I beat first game 2 times, I spent 15+ hours dg2 and I still find new mechanics ❤ thank you for your work
🙏
Made a big beast mommy pawn and she certainly gets around, even more after teaching her elvish 🤣
Had to use my pawns as makeshift weapons when I did a quest where I had to fight quite a few people (and my pawns couldn’t help because they were incapacitated) because I was playing as the trickster 🥲 it took so long so another tip is if you think there’s going to be a fight that you might have to do alone, don’t play as the trickster (unless you want to throw your pawns as weapons)
the Trickster......tragic class.
Makeshift hard mode:
You can put your main pawn in the “phial of sealing” and dismiss your extra pawns to try the game solo!
does your house count as an Inn?
Yes
Yes l
No
Also note that you can hold onto fruit so it can ripen before putting it in storage, I do it mainly because it makes better potions
Informative vid & dude is hilarious!
OMFG dude, had me rollin' start to finish.
Great info and delivery!
I dont know maybe a glitch but at least one time i went to sleep when those annoying flying birds where around and woke up in the morning
To revive lots of NPCs, get the eternal wakestone. Take it to the forger, and you can make endless perfect copies.
Now you can revive town after town after town… no more will you need to “Old Yeller” your possessed pawns!
I loved this video & your commentary the tips were very helpful thank you so much.
5:11 being on the griffin does not affect its ability to fly whatsoever from what I can tell. It can only happen if you burn its wings
I really wish they had clothing and armor separate like the first game. When things got too easy in the first one, shedding armor was a good option
You can grab any small flying enemies in air and guide them in a direction you want .
Anyone notice the Golden Trove Beetle DOES NOT give .15 KG ONLY .05 KG. I'M PISSED ABOUT THIS.
Board the oxcart, sit on the bench, then 'doze off' to basically fast travel towns
Until an ogre jumps the cart
You can use healing items from the menu the same as you can from the quick slots if you're fast enough.
Great editing! Much respect
If you raise affinity with a vendor theyll give you permanent discounts, just fyi. Thats why quest npcs that are vendors give you discounts afterward, the affinity bump
6:32 theres a sign before one bridge that says please dont it takes several days to make another one! its hilarious lololol
That running tackle looks sweet. Gonna try it after Work
Only problem i have with the game is the atuo save bug. I've lost 14 hours of gameplay b/c i didn't do a HARD save. 😒
But heck, this game is really keeping me glued to the gamepad by how well done and polished the gameplay is
Anyway great video finally someone explains these things that the game doesn't even tell you.
Yeaah I thought i was stuck, so I loaded up the last Inn Rest instead of recent autosave and it sent me back to fr the very beginning village 💀
Then once u make that choice your screwed, all progress deleted lol.
but yeah game is deff worth it tho 🗿
I have been saving from the option in the pause menu and haven't had any issues so far. I just use "save & continue" while in game and "save and return to title menu" before I stop
@@mikeyeah17 Right sooo be careful bcuz if u ever click "Load From Last Rest at Inn" you will forever lose all progress since last Inn Rest
@@SoulKingsss 💯 When I first died and saw the option to reload the inn save, I was like, that save is like 4 hours ago, lol
I expected a boring infodump video. This was fun
YESSIR
good to hear 🙏
Awesome thanks
If you want an old school really hard game, you can play without your main pawn too. You have to kill em, then just don't revive them
There is one tip that I wish you would’ve discussed that I’m having trouble finding. Is direction of your pawn to climb and get a chess or fly up to an area because you can’t. I saw it on one video. I really did pay attention to it but now I can’t find it anywhere.
Nice! Didn't know about the running tackle takedown
Just bought this game full price which i never do. So far its worth it!
A better alternative to throwing pawns from cliffs and jumping on them is to just tackle them near the cliff's edge.
dayum ive never tried that
Informative. I like the idioms used.
yup the rest at inn/house thing is big. I lost about 10 hours myself messing this up, i got captured in the magistrate mission and wanted to retry, the auto reloaded me into prison and the last inn was 10 hours ago. I restarted the game anyway since my first character had a womans grunt for some reason lol
I came up with the trick of holding spell books with my thief, so I can use spells and fight fast
I'm sure they will add more feature such as difficulty options and removed adaptive difficultly imo plus autosave gotta be more frequent like in the first game it helps a lot of players not having to run all the way to their quest locations. Sorry for writing so much lol have an awesome day
The game straight up tells you DON’T RELIE ON THE AUTOSAVE
Tip for quickly healing just to be even safer just pause the game and use a healing item and whatever else you need
I've learned if you want them to fall, don't attack their legs attack their face
Nice video!
