  • BMW loaned me this rather unique 2024 i4 xDrive 40 for a week with a gorgeous shade of Individual Mora Metallic ($4,500). Peel back the snazzy color, M sport packages and options, this i4 is unique as you can’t even get a 40 xDrive in Germany. After a week, it’s balanced blend of power, features, range, and AWD capability makes it likely the best i4 to buy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    Highs:
+The i4 is simply gorgeous, and a fancy paint option makes it even better.
+I was impressed with the efficiency, coasting capability and fast charging speeds, especially for a non-dedicated EV platform.
+The interior is top tier well built, drive 8.5 is responsive and next level with technology baked in.
+It feels special, well built, intensely engineered, a true BMW experience.
    Lows:
-Not necessarily a low but if you are expecting a performance car, this is not it. The xDrive40 drives like a well tuned and balanced Grand Tourer: good power, dynamic yet compliant suspension, quick yet light steering. The i4 M50 is the wild one for sure.
    8.5/10
Dish out many exuberant options and a mid $60k price is not bad at all for this i4. I would consider one personally.

Simply put, Sport Mode gives you the tighter display, Eco Pro gives you the wider display, and in Comfort Mode you can choose either version or go for the minimalist 'hockey stick' display mode.
The tiled nature of the iDrive GUI may seem outdated, but it's far more practical than the tablet style interface you see in other cars. Most important of all, a tiled interface works with the controller dial. This means _everything can be scolled through_ rather than you having to look at the screen, find the text you need to press, then tap that part of the screen. If you memorize the fact your music app is three scroll-clicks to the right, you can bring it up without having to look directly at the screen. You count clicks or see the highlighted tile in the corner of your vision, meaning you can keep your eyes on the road and still navigate the interface with your fingers on the dial.
