I made a Renfrew top. As I was pressing it once I’d finished it I saw a snip on the L shoulder near the neckband. And I’d done such a great job. Now it’s for wearing at home
Oh no that sounds even more annoying than my hemming disaster - a neckband yikes! At least you can still wear it at home though and doesn't it always have to be the one that went really well too?
Lovely pattern. It looks wonderful on you. It doesn't go up to my size but that isn't a problem. I am getting quite good at grading patterns! The difficulty for me would be the underbust seam. I'm long waisted. I think I would move the gathering as you did. Thanks for this lovely review. It isn't always easy to see what a pattern will look like in reality so it is lovely to see it made. That dress looks fabulous on you! It is a lovely pattern but I am not nearly as slim as you are and find it very difficult to picture myself in it. I have rejected mamy patterns I like because I feel they wouldn't look good on me but, maybe they would have. It is so difficult to tell.
Thanks so much Maggie, a good tip is perhaps to try on some ready to wear similar styles to see if you like them and then that can give you ideas for what you might like to sew.
@@SewEssential This is the problem with RTW clothes. When you are larger than 'normal' the styles do become frumpy with lots of elastication and, why is the bust line always so high like that of a teenager! They don't seem to account for long waisted people. This is why I like to make my own clothes. However, thanks for your tip, it is a very good idea. When we are allowed out again and the shops are open I will have a look in any shops which are still trading to see if there is anything which catches my eye in my size.

The dress is lovely, great pattern and a most suitable fabric. However, I don't understand why there is a slit at the front of the frill. Usually there is a slit if the dress is narrow to enable the use of movement, but here rather unnecessary in my opinion although it does not detract from the lovely style of the dress.

Yes, you’re quite petite for a size 12! Sometimes they’ve added a bit to much ease and for someone smaller it’s a bit too much!
