@@strangerthings88 Mariah has always praised Barbra, she wrote "Can you hear me" for Barbra in the early 90's, she even mentions her in "Givin 'me life" (living like Babs, cause it's evergreen). Mariah attended her concerts too. You can hear more Aretha/Patti in her vocal approach, I agree with that, but that doesn't mean that she's not a fan. Get your facts straight.

Since you don’t want to say it, the truth is that Mariah has always had the better voice. It is more versatile, and agile. She had a stronger low register and a higher belt register and a whistle register. She is more creative with her melismas, in fact, very creative. Off the subject of her voice alone, she wrote most all of her own songs. Whitney wasn’t really a songwriter. Whitney was one of the voices, but she wasn’t THE Voice. Don’t get me wrong, I love and will always love Whitney, but this is like comparing any other basketball player to Michael Jordan. There’s a reason why Mariah is THE choice of music professionals and vocal coaches. Also, Mariah has more #1 hits than any other solo artist in HISTORY. You should react to Beyonce live. She’s been singing for 20 years and voice has only gotten better. It’s become richer…warmer…deeper.
