There are SO many legends of the game that were Spurs fans growing up, Tottenham were once a HUGE club, way bigger than many of the current 'big clubs' of this generation. Box Office Team.

@@spinofthewheel5345Arsenal are bigger than Spurs but to say Spurs aren't a big club is just biased and delusional. I don't support either team but I've never understood the hate Tottenham get from other fans. They've won more European trophies and league cups than Arsenal. Only thing that makes Arsenal bigger than Spurs is your superior league and fa cup record. You don't win 17 major trophies and play in a champions league final like arsenal have if you're a small club.

I don't think the "brief for Levy" was to go in there and win trophies at all, it was to keep Tottenham Hotspur afloat! He's done that incredibly, from where we were back then we've grown steadily over time to become not only 1 of the most financially stable clubs in the Premier League but a club with one of the newest, finest stadiums AND one of the newest, finest training grounds. They were both incredibly necessary and often doing either is enough to sink a club but Daniel has managed to get Tottenham to a place where they can do both and STILL GROW! Over time, because of Daniel's success in growing the club and because of Tottenham's past glory, it has become about winning trophies once again but I think it's a reductive conversation when talking about a Chairman. He can only help put the pieces in place to get us challenging, and he's absolutely done that. A Chairman cannot get you over the line though.

We spent that money thinking that we was genuine ucl contenders the season prior rather then be honest and admit that we fluked it incredibly and papered over the cracks. The squad needed to be replenished 2/3 seasons prior but it wasn’t. That £150m spent post ucl final jusy compiled our issues

    • @eldante4139
      @eldante4139 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don’t think the squad needed to be replaced 2-3 years before the CL Final. What DID need to happen was that the squad was added to for the future. To provide quality depth and players that would be there to take the club forward.
You can’t say the team needed to be replaced three years before. That was the season we finished 3rd. We needed players we could trust to rotate in and keep the first team players fresh and we didn’t sign anyone for a few windows. So we ran the best players into the ground and no surprise fell away due to likely fatigue, injuries, and not enough quality coming in.

When it comes to Daniel Levy, Spurs fans just don’t get it. The club is in an exponentially better position since he became chairman. He’s organically increased revenue through really clever investments and then put that added revenue towards the playing squad and top manager appointments. Five years from now they’ll be spending even more on players. You can’t ask for much more than that - especially when it’s not even his money to spend.

Let's be clear, the term 'Spursy' is not about not winning trophies. It's about the club's uncanny ability to have things happen to it that don't seem to happen to others. For example, whole squad getting food poisoning on last day of the season when you trying to qualify for Champions League. It's about conceding a penalty in the first 60 seconds of a CL final. It's about finishing 4th, qualifying for CL and then having a team finishing 10th steal that place from you cos they were unlikely winners of the comp - only for that rule to then be changed the very next season. That's what Spursy really means but rival fans use it for their own purposes, albeit incorrectly.

However the rebuild and character of this side is yet to be set , after the Emirates Stadium ,Anfield is the place where need to make a statement . With the VAR controversy , not of the clubs making adding spice to last season roller-coaster ride , if Tottenham are to become winners again , then no fear attacking football taking points there , will reset the benchmark. Ange may have to make changes this summer and unlike Poch , must be given some marquee players to help progress what is an exciting young core of promise , that with rotation and seasoning will become the Glory grabbers, as a fan I hope to see. And we finished 4th but lost out on ucl. What if we built properly upon a squad with bale, modric, vdv etc. Or what if levy properly backed poch instead of resting on his laurels and letting the squad go stale. In fact every year we finished top 4 we have over achieved. We are not a club set up to go all out for a League Cup or FA Cup our aims have been to move up the table since the days of mid table or lower under Sugar. I think the more you dig the more you need to give Levy credit.
Spurs never used joe lewis money unlike Chelsea and City to name just two.
Arsenal have had plenty of money to throw around.
That's utd, liverpool, chelsea, city and Arsenal. The big 5 that between them have won it all.
That leaves Spurs in the midst of teams like Leeds, Everton, Villa ect.
What have they won? Whats their standing now?
As a long term Spurs fan its impossible to say with certainty that this is our time. That said we now have a financial system that generates real money for the club. So we are arguably in the best position to threaten the big teams than before.
Didnt want Ange. His football is exciting and we attack which is what we want. Hes doing a great job.
Two things that bother me is certain signings and Anges use of Subs. Johnson and Werner really struggle. Theyre too soft. Thats where Spursy comes from. We always fail when we buy these lightweight players. Worse our academy has churned out 100s of feeble players Spurs seem to rate.
Hopefully that will change. Aussies do not generally like weak players.
Certainly Ange needs this season and next to sort thing out. Just no more weak players please. Give Santiago a shot. He looks better than Werner and Johnson.

    Spursy
    They are both wrong.
Spursy was invented By Spurs fans to describe ridiculously unfortunate situations that denied Spurs chances to win/gain something.
    - Pedro Mendes Ghost goal.
    - Lasagne and food poisoning on last game of season that prevented them qualifying for CL.
    - Finishing 4th and qualifying for CL only for Chelsea to beat Bayern in the final and take the qualification spot.
    - Conceding a penalty after 1 min in CL final.
Its about something that can only happen to Tottenham.
If it was just about not winning trophies then Newcastle, Villa, Everton would all be ahead of them as they have gone longer without a trophy
