I remember back in the late 70's, I went to a concert in Mexico City to see Muddy Waters and other blues legends not knowing who they were, I was new to the blues and rock music, and didn't know I was looking at the inventors of the blues and rock. In Mexico rock and blues were not generes that most people listened to in those years, and I was there enjoying the music, but not as someone who's conscious of the greatness of those artists. Today Im not an expert, but I am conscious.

I saw McKinley perform many times, at The Colonial Tavern in Toronto Ontario Canada. One night , I got the nerve to ask if I could meet with him personally. We met - just the 2 of us - and I asked him a few questions about Robert Johnson. He explained the whole thing to me about himself, Robert and Son House, who taught them both. I will never forget it, and consider that meeting one of the highlights of my Life, and musical development.

Песня группы «Чиж и Ко» «Hoochie Coochie Man» посвящена Александру Долгову, лидеру харьковской группы «Дождь», игравшую джаз. В основе музыки композиции лежит классический блюзовый стандарт, сочиненный Мадди Уотерсом в далеком 1954 году. В песне Чижа оригинальная мелодия немного изменена - музыкант адаптировал её к русскому менталитету, слегка утяжелив.
Сам термин Hoochie Coochie (хучи-кучи) - это название провокационного танца, ставшего популярным в конце XIX столетия. В Европу его привезла темнокожая танцовщица Дженифер Бейкер в 1925 году. Во время исполнения танца на девушке из одежды был лишь один банан, а сам танец представлял собой нечто среднее между танцем живота и стриптизом.
Существует также версия, согласно которой в середине 40-х годов XX века в Чикаго термин Hoochie Coochie Man применяли по отношению к балагурам и весельчакам. По всей видимости, именно в этом смысле употребляет выражение и Чиж.

We met - just the 2 of us - and I asked him a few questions about Robert Johnson. He explained the whole thing to me about himself, Robert and Son House, who taught them both.
