    HI Lana, if you enter this piece to an art show, is this piece defined as mixed media drawing /painting or colored pencil drawing?

    • @LanaGloschatArt
      @LanaGloschatArt  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. I would probably list it as mixed media. The CPSA annual show wouldn't allow a piece like this though because those pieces have to be 100% colored pencil.
      Sorry for the super late response. I took an extended TH-cam break, but Im back and just posted a new video today if you are interested:

      I might be wrong but I think Arty is only on IPhones. Another app that you can get on Android phones is called the colored pencil picker. It’s the same for the most part but I think it gives you different pencils you can layer to achieve the color you need.

    I'm a new subscriber and so excited to be here! I have a question- It looks like your Derwent pencils layer well on each other and even over pastel. I have Prismacolor and don't think they do that. Is this why you recommend Derwent? I've not been able to successfully layer. Also goats are my favorite animal and teal is my favorite color so I'm in love with this piece! 😍 is it for sale?

    • @LanaGloschatArt
      @LanaGloschatArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Prismacolors will be able to layer a bit... but I do believe derwent lightfasts would do a better job. I recommend them because they are super high quality, have beautiful colors that will last over 100 years under museum conditions, and because they are relatively easy to get your hands on. If you haven't tried them I would 100% recommend! tinyurl.com/6v82y9rb
      YES! It is still available and for sale. Send me an email or a DM on social and we can work out the details. lana.gloschat@gmail.com, lana@lanagloschatart.com

      It is ARTY and I use it on my iPhone. If you have a tablet, procreate is a great drawing app. It isn’t free but there are some cool color features on that app if you can’t get ARTY to work for you (the app picture is a purple eyeball)

    • @melkmb
      @melkmb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try The Colored Pencil Picker. It’s a similar app on Android phones. Instead of giving you one colored pencil that is a close match, it gives you two or three colors to layer to achieve the color you need. It even tells you how many layers of each color you need. You can use the free version which gives you just one option of a color and if you pay a little bit you can unlock the rest of the colors you could use to layer.

    • @FernCurtis
      @FernCurtis ปีที่แล้ว

      @@melkmbActually…that one option could possibly be only for Android. I say that because I have it on my iPad and iPhone, both the free version - Don’t use it too much unless I just flat get stuck, which doesn’t happen too often. You get the one or two options for a bit, but then after about 5 minutes +/-, you get the option to watch a 30 second advertisement for additional colors to use.

      @@LanaGloschatArt thank you for responding. I only ask that because I do use an icarus board and I’ve never used solvent but the heated board really works well. I’m 68 and I just started Color pencil art a few years ago I’ve never drawn before in my life. I really like colored pencils because of the details you can get. my mind doesn’t work in abstract. I love looking at abstract but my mind can’t seem to wrap around doing it. But the art teacher I take classes from uses the heated board so I’ve got one and that’s all I’ve ever used. She uses it because she doesn’t want to breathe in chemicals. I don’t see any artist videos that use it but it works really well. I’m not promoting it for any reason i am just wondering why more artists don’t use it.

    • @LanaGloschatArt
      @LanaGloschatArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kathyparker9402 my guess as to why more artist don’t use it is that it is quite expensive. That’s the only reason I don’t have one yet! But there are many ways to use chemicals safely so if I do use solvent I am just cautious with them. I have a solvent video if you are interested in that info. So great to meet you and to have you here on the channel!
