Thank you Jason for your very generous sharing of your in-depth knowledge and experience. This information removes many roadblocks and frustrations toward achieving precise effect and colour in pastels. I appreciate you sharing so much of your skill and experience with us!
Thank you I appreciate you demonstrating the tonal and color finder charts. I pulled out several art pieces that I was struggling with and my tones were off. Now that I see the tonal values more accurately I am going to rework these pieces. Again thank you
Thank You for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience with us! You have helped me a great deal, to overcome obstacles and learn about pastels especially! They are now my favorite meduim-and yes, I also have a ton of different sets of pencils...always glad to add mnore!!!
Great tips, thank!. Perhaps add a column on swatches with fixative applied. I learned from a separate video of yours fixative darkens the pastels. Or lean toward the light side when color matching to compensate for fixative.
Hy Jason, this is hat I call a great lesson. Ideale appreciate this video you made for us. I do have a value card and strangely enough I never use it, I also find the tip of the levels in photoshop very valuable. thank you very much for this. By the way, thank you so much that we can print out your examples like the color matcher. 🙏👍
Hello Jason, I have already learned a lot of things from you, but I still have a question, because if I have found the matched color and put it on gray matte photo paper, the color is different than on white paper, how do I solve this again? Can you help me with this please? Greetings from Julia from the Netherlands ps… finally after years I do understand the value scale and can work with it … thanks to you 🙏
I purchased Panpastels in black and white with colorless blender. I need to print a value scale. How do I get one? Maybe you explain it further in the video. Thank you. New Patreon.
Sometimes I print out a black and white photo of my image to look for tonal range. Caran d’Ache has a color pencil mixing board for blending , somewhere I use that and apply with applicator tip or small DaVinci stencil brushes. Are those gray scale print outs available for Patreon members? These are very helpful tips! Thank you so much!
I have no problem with the tonal range. All I do is get a dark brown, a med brown, a light brown. Do the same for the other colors too and that fixed this problem for me. It's similar to using a 2b, hb, and 2h pencil for pencil drawing. Simple and my eyes can see what tone it has to be. There are a lot of artists with this problem.
I find it very strange that I can do over 600 free videos including this 40 min one, to help people and I get the occasional comment thinking I am tricking people. The link to the file is literally at the top of the description below the video. And even if you couldnt find the link, why not just ask me nicely in the comment?

Thank you, Jason. What program did you use to pull the colors from the photo, so that you can compare and match?
Thank you once again for being so generous with your knowledge Jason.
This is really handy, I think I'm scared of stepping too far out of the mid-tones, getting there but I think this will really help! Thank you!!
