I’m having issues getting my bobbin to wind. The thread doesn’t stay on the bobbin even when I hold the end

Thanks for the video. I purchased my DU-1181N a few months back from SG. I use it for upholstery, canvas work and outdoor furniture restoration. The machine is a joy to use even when sewing multiple layers of heavy outdoor fabrics. I use size 21 and 22 needles with # 92 UV thread with excellent results. I'd recommend owners download the DU - 1181 N Engineer's Manual off of the Juki website. The manual provides clear threading instructions and all of the key adjustments. The machine is a joy to use.

I just got my Juki 5550 and the belt is so tight I can hardly turn my handwheel. I think they superglued these nuts and bolts.
And no my belt isn't on their wrong.

Steve, thanks for the video. Does it make any difference if the thread spools off the bobbin counter clockwise or clockwise?

As long as the thread is flowing freely, it will not matter.

I’m so glad you asked this question. I’ve seen so much controversy over the direction of the thread on the bobbin when it’s inserted in the bobbin case. I never knew that it didn’t matter.

Hi, my juki DU1181n needle is hitting the bobbin casing, is there an easy way to fix this. Many thanks

I bought my DU_1181N last year, and just learning how to use it. Every video I've seen so far, the machine has an upper and lower thread tensioner, whereas mine only has the lower one. Where the upper one should be there's just a small piece with three holes in, that can be positioned differently with the screw on the top. On the top of the machine is a piece that looks like it should have the upper tensioner attached to is, it's the same shape as the piece with the holes in behind the upper tensioner.
My machine is second hand, I'm wondering if a previous owner made adjustments to suit their needs or was the DU-1181N made with some different configurations available?

Any idea if there a way to fit a flip-down edge guide to this model? (even if it means drilling and tapping.... )

Unfortunately my parts suppliers do not sell one for this machine. If you want to tap holes in the machine, the ones for the DNU-1541 will work.
