Johnny's the best. When I see you've interviewed him, I stop work and listen. So glad to see he is still sharp. I loved wearing #5 as a kid in Little League even though I wasn't a catcher. I'm pledging to see my dermatologist. Made an appointment for next month.
JB always gives a great interview. I got to see him play his entire career, my pick as GOAT catcher. I love to watch footage of him working behind the plate. He looks like he was born there.
Johnny Bench had the kid’s MLB show “The Baseball Bunch” on Sunday mornings back in the late 70’s, early 80’s, and I never missed an episode. Johnny Bench is the best. Still have a few Johnny Bench Topps, Fleer and Donruss cards. One of the best catchers ever to play the game and a true ambassador of the sport.
Dan, next time you have Johnny Bench on, as him to take us on a tour of his man cave. I would love to see a close up of his trophy case. JB was my hero as a kid, and nothing has changed since.
My Grandparents were Reds fans and as a young catcher I loved Johnny Bench. We watched that All Star game when Reggie hit it out of Tiger Stadium. Baseball..
I was a catcher in high school and college (mainly the live BP catcher on a really good team.). I wore #5 in high school but it was already taken when I got to college. I thought Johnny Bench hung the moon and I continue to hold him in high regard. A tremendous player and leader on a team full of leaders. But he never really answered DP’s question he just sort of danced around it. At least he didn’t have to dance around the Pete Rose question. But what a stud.
An odd fact about Reggie's appearance in the 1971 All-Star Game is that he wasn't originally selected to the squad. Carl Yastrzemski, Tony Oliva, and Frank Robinson were the starting outfielders voted in by the fans, but Oliva was injured, and Earl Weaver named Reggie as his replacement. Jerry Grote of the Mets was the National League's starting catcher in the 1968 All-Star Game, and Tom Haller of the Dodgers was the other catcher named to the NL squad.
i think even johnny and reggie would have to be amazed in 2023 by this fellow played for the angels named s.ohtani. hits so many tape measured jobs that they simply pitch around him in august that continues on thru september, his hitting production comes to a standstill. let's not even mention he pitches 100 mph
I love you Dan but you can't hate on china when china is in your hand for a good part of the day and keeps your world together....I lived in Hong Kong for 4 years and 9 different states. I was never more free then when in HK
Bonds completely shot himself in the foot as did Clemmons. McGuire maybe not, Sosa no. But Bonds for sure would have been in the Hall without the roids so why not just stay clean, keep your ego in check and you would be in the hall today.

Being 70, I know everyone Johnny is talking about. Amazing time in MLB!
Could listen to Johnny all day.
I'm a longtime Stros fan. Johnny Bench was the man & he played on some great Reds teams. Classy guy
I was honored to meet Johnny a few years back in Fargo. Star struck! Such a gentleman
Love Johnny, funny and well spoken
Finally, been waiting for a new johnny bench interview. He is one of the best.

One of the greatest mlb personalities and even greater ball player! Reds fan since 76' grew up on the Baseball ⚾️ Bunch!
Gotta have Johnny on every month during baseball season
Amazing discussion with Johnny ⚾ Good ho see he's still so sharp
I love me some Dan Patrick. The look on his face when Johnny bench is just talking is priceless .
It’s gratifying to hear a great Hall of Famer like Johnny Bench talk about my team as the “blueprint” for other teams to follow.

i believe he sold most of his memorabilia
Growing up, Bench was my all time favorite player.
The greatest catcher ever. JOHNNY BENCH
JB looks great. True legend of the diamond.
great interview of the GOAT, of catchers. to short.
"And this one belongs to the REDS"
My Grandparents were Reds fans and as a young catcher I loved Johnny Bench. We watched that All Star game when Reggie hit it out of Tiger Stadium. Baseball..
They don`t make em better than Johnny Bench.
Greatest catcher of all-time in my opinion
Love johnny too
Johnny bench is a cool guy to hang out with!

One of the best cathers every to play

Willie Mays was right. Bench should have been the starting catcher, although Grote was pretty good defensively.

The greatest catcher ever!
Bonds sounds like George Santos.
Did Johnny Bench just admit to taking greenies?
No mention of Pete Rose in this clip! U wanna talk about guys who aren't in the Hall...
I'd like to hear Mr. Benchs' take on Pete
GO REDS
Hey Fritzy! Put the Funko on the funko desk so we can funko see it!
wholesome cool guy 👌
The 1979 we are family Pirates were a cocaine machine!
Bonds: the greatest example of karma. You treat people in your business like mud on your shoe, don't expect anyone to respect anything you do...
Arguably the best catcher ever. Still, he rubs me the wrong way.
Willie was the best!
JB IN THA HOUSE!
I love you Dan but you can't hate on china when china is in your hand for a good part of the day and keeps your world together....I lived in Hong Kong for 4 years and 9 different states. I was never more free then when in HK
Bonds knows he did it, we all know he did it, he knows that we know he did it. You're not going Barry. Just like Pete
At least Pete never cheated the game!!
@@Vic-Vega no, by definition Pete did exactly that. you've got it backwards mate
@@toddu4067Got any proof of that whatsoever, "mate??"
@@Vic-Vega yes, that's MLB's reasoning for Pete not being in the Hall
@@Vic-Vega of course Pete cheated the game

OJ was vindicated too but you know lol
ivan rodriguez took steroids but nobody says anything about him.
According to Bill Nahoradny Johnny Bench is the greatest catcher in the history of MLBB followed by Thurman Munson and Rick Dempsey in that order.
The greatest.
