    Loving seeing amateur people on the channel. It is hard to replicate others that are much more skilled than us, but seeing common issues that can be relatable helps us go out and start trying to fix it. I have a similar over the top I’m trying to fix and this motivates me to go practice and real practice this feeling

    • @grilledbg

      One tip that helped my driver slice and close the club face is from Padraig Harrington, put a tee behind the ball, in line with your back foot. Make your normal swing but act like you are trying to hit the tee, it will make you close the club face where you should. First swing I did with it, perfect 245 yard draw. Previously 215 yards with a cut on a good day. I do think the lad in the video would benefit from this.

    Great lesson. I've struggled with an over-the-top move all my life. I fix it, then fall back at least partially to my old habbits. His use of a headcover visualization has helped me get back to hitting regular draws in just two outings. I've already added about 15 more yards onto my driver and 5-10 on my irons. Thanks Grant!

    I like to have a second alignment stick. One for my feet and one for my path. You can aim that yellow alignment stick a little right so he can swing along that path towards the headcover.

    This lesson was for me.
    I got fitted for a driver this spring and steep outside in is my move.
    The stronger grip. The headcover swing line. The forearm turn.
    All things I have been working on.
    I would add a right shoulder drop at address with the driver.
    It helps me stay tucked.

    G! Stick that alignment stick into the ground behind the ball and force him to come from the inside! The mind and golf is a tricky combination sometimes and you need something like this to force it if it doesn't happen with the head cover trick.

    Long backswing, crosses the line at the top, over-the-top move in transition, steepens the shaft on the downswing, outside-to-in swing path … this swing pattern creates a left-to-right ball flight. The miss is going to be a big cut or a dead pull left. Grant is making a big change in this gentleman’s swing. Very interesting to watch. Thanks, Grant.

    • @temporarystranger95
      @temporarystranger95 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@briand3362 It’s a *very common* swing pattern for amateurs. Honestly, I think it’s easier to refine that pattern than try to totally change it, as Grant appears to be doing in this video. I’m not saying it cannot be done, but it will take an immense amount of work on this gentleman’s part. It was interesting to see what Grant’s approach was with this pattern because I’m sure he sees it a lot.

    I went through all them drills as a young bloke to no avail.. your swing action as Ernie Els once said is part of you..
    At the age of 35 I just about had enough of lessons going nowhere so in frustration I ended up marking the driver grip with a white point at address in terms of my eye line to the ground facing the ball and then asked the club fitter to twist the grip 1’5mm clockwise..
    So on address I still had the white dot on the same eye line which closed the club face just that fraction
    I’ve never hit a slice since and went from shooting 90-98 per round to 75-85 consistently

    • @bluetoughguy
      @bluetoughguy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To get more compression and have better contact overall you have to focus on hitting the ball first and the ground second. If you have a tendency of scooping, something that helped me was to put about 60% weight on my front foot to help almost cheat to make sure I get my weight transferring and body shifting a bit forward. This helps with that contact part for me.

    • @DanWessonSpecialist
      @DanWessonSpecialist 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Truthfully you need to improve the backswing take away move with the shaft pointed to belly to return to a good strike position. The better turn you make, the better front swing. Also I focus on looking at the front of the ball, never the back of the ball with irons.

    I have the same issue with driver. Like with this guy I have found it way easier to change my path with irons and literally added 15 metres with every iron and have had to adjust on the course to take account of that. But I cannot do it with driver for some reason. On the range I try to exaggerate the action and often end up with massive hooks so clearly not ‘feeling’ the path with driver in hand.

    To be honest I’d never try to get his club swinging to the right before he learns to close the face. Your brain simply won’t let you swing to the right because it knows the club face is open. Only when you get the face square will your brain be willing to swing right.

    When someone says stop going over the top I would probably exaggerate doing the opposite. So when he says to go out more and not over the top, it still looks like he’s still over the top. 🧑🏻‍💻 what’s your grip suppose to look like? I go over the top and have been told my grip is weak but when I change my grip it feels just like I had it before 🤷🏻‍♂️
