@@clorett15he had mentioned a few videos back that his dad came to every college tournament and walked 54 holes with him outside the ropes. He had come to the Myrtle beach qualifier. His parents also watch every video he does.
Your dad is a great teacher! It warmed my heart when your dad mentioned my favorite teacher the late great Jim Flick. I still think about and use the things that Jim Flick taught me.
Lovely video and thank you. I lost my dad 1 year ago tomorrow and miss him every day. It's great to see you cherishing the time you have with him. Thank you for all your wonderful contibutions - you are a shining light and someone my own son, a 14yo aspirational golfer playing off 3, really looks up to. Cheers from Sydney - Dave
What a gem 😅 the smallest moves are sure to smarten things up in your swing. No early extension cocking wrists over the top. Just basics and you’re away. LOVE IT LOOOOOOVE IT
I still remember when you took a brand new set of mizuno clubs to dads house !!! He was visibly so grateful and touched . What a great dad , what a great son . Thanks Grant …. Blessings my brother.
It's always the "LITTLE" thing that affect the "BIG" picture. Alignment is crucial ! I have a set of alignment sticks with ball position marks so if I get sidetracked I have a quick reference, to get back on line. Great video
At @11:30, when you were hitting it with the driver, you could see that on strike, the face was a little open in one of the shots. That's what I saw, but I just saw your dad fix it. The man is an excellent teacher. He was patient and observant and made a ball placement and shoulder adjustment. That is gold! I am taking that to the range! - Today's pro would have two assistants holding your a$$ and hips while hooked up to every little matching, and the pro would diagnose you need a complete swing change because ChatGPT told them to. I'll stick with your dad's advice; there is nothing like time and experience. Pop needs to have his own channel (maybe under your brand).
When i have my lessons my coach always has a set up check before every lesson and if its not where he wants it to be we don,t continue until its right! And listening to your Dad speaking you are in very safe hands! Great to see them supporting you G
Man I love this! Watched this before I went out for a round today. I’m 38 and quit playing for a decade. Just picked it back up last September and shot my best round since I started back of 85 from the tips of my local municipal! Kept thinking about this small things at setup and it helped so much with distance control and overall shot shape. Actually hit a couple of draws with the driver and I’m a natural fader of the ball. Great stuff Grant! Keep it coming!
Love how your Dad stresses importance of sound basics . Ball position , alignment, grip tips are Huge for golfers at all levels. Loved the advice in this video …Thank you both 👍
Its crazy how the smallest change can get your ball flight right back on target. I sometimes try to reinvent my entire swing thinking I'm doing it all wrong and forgot how to swing the club, when it might just be the ball position or slight grip change. Nice reminder on making the smallest changes until you get it back on target. Its always great to see your Dad on the channel. Cherish these moments, time with your Dad is priceless.
Wow, your Dad is awesome. I'm struggling with the right miss on my driver as well. I've been moving the ball forward to have more time to close the face. Now I'm thinking it is too far forward and now coming across as your Dad said.
Wow! Your Dad is amazing! The 2 alignment stick method is so good. I have been using only one forever and tried 2. The results were incredibly better. Thank you!
You have an amazing family. My parents thought I was weird for playing golf. They didn't want to buy me clubs or anything. So great to see a relationship like this! Thanks for all you do, and Mr Horvat, too.
I've certainly used two alignment sticks before but the way your Dad described it was really helpful in understanding how to use them. Thanks for the tip, Mr. Horvat.
Idk if it’s just me but when you first started hitting driver your feet looked like they were aimed right. Then when you moved the ball back your feet squared up to the alignment stick better. Your swing is so awesome to watch. Silky smooth.
New to the channel Grant, but I’ve been a fan for a while now. Enjoying the content here in the UK. It’s great that your dad is your swing coach. My dad taught me although he isn’t an actual coach, his knowledge is a as good. I was having troubles myself, just couldn’t compress the ball. Had a round of golf with dad and afterwards he said let’s go hit 50 balls on the range. 50 balls later, compression was back. I was pretty much the same as you. Ball had crept too far forward in stance and I’d developed a flying trail elbow into transition. So I was getting super steep and stuck coming into impact. 20 or so practise balls later feeling elbows get closer together at the top of the swing, ball in better positions in relation to arc and I was back in Compressionville.
These video lessons are awesome with you Dad.. I like to see more of this. Can we see more front facing angle vs. behind Grant.. Coaches normally stand where Grant's Dad is standing. Thanks!
Grant…..love both of your channels but the teaching channel always gives me something I can sink my teeth into. I guess that’s why you started it. I’m 73….so older than your dad. I noticed he has some little shakes in his hands but not nearly as bad as mine. He obviously knows more about golf than most of us will ever know. I watch you play a lot and am always impressed by your swing….never forced (even when trying to hit it hard) and always smooth. It amazes me how much club head speed you guys can create and make it look so effortless. It also amazes me how much a tiny adjustment alters the outcome of a swing. I used to hit the ball pretty well (never as good as you) but age has robbed me of the ability to generate speed and I’ve lost a lot of distance…..like half as far as when I was in my 50s. Any tips you can get from your Dad that might help an old fart increase his club head speed without our arms flying off might make a good teaching session.
I see a LOT of alignment videos talking about the sticks, and how you use them to line up your feet parallel to the target. What i don't see very often (or ever, outside of a single Mark Crossfield vid i've seen) is how to control a golfer that lets his SHOULDERS get out of whack with where his feet and hips are pointing. It happens to my son a lot, and i actually see it from a lot of golfers when they get on a tee box that is not pointed straight down the fairway. And that ball almost 100% of the time travels in the direction their shoulders are aimed at when they take initial address.
Great Video! Love to see more content like this. It also clarified some of the issues I am currently having and going to be working on at the range. Thanks G! Keep up the good work!
“85% of this game at least is setup” are the most true words spoken in golf instruction. I always see videos trying to fix other areas of a swing but the student can’t really perform the move because they’ve already killed any chance of doing it before they ever start to swing the club.
Where was the driver ball position at first and where is it now? I think I may be struggling with it too far up as well. My drives have been weak and leaking right lately even though I’m making center contact. This is a great channel and your dad’s teaching style is fantastic.
Man I'm 42 and I grew up on a golf course and had a teacher similar to your dad old school and can spot all those little things that creep in your game and with no major swing changes get you on track
Bro your dads the coolest most down to earth man I’ve ever met. That being said he would give me and my older brother the most uncomfortable rides home some nights but other than that I hope we can find my dad together guys
Great to see your pop on the channel. Now the big question...If Wes or somebody asks you to look at their swing , is all this info logged away in the back of your brain? Or..Are dad lessons super secret stuff only for TH-cam? Thanks for your time, love the teaching videos!!!
Can you do a video about getting club speed with your driver? You have such a smooth effortless swing and I know you can carry the ball 300+ if you want so I'm dying to get some advice.
Grant, I’m closer to your parents age than I am yours and trust me when I say….do this every opportunity you get. Never take it for granted. Enjoy it. Savor that time with your parents. I can tell from this vid alone that you and your family are good ppl. I wish you all the best. Really enjoy your vids.
I love this. I'm 62 and the only human to consistently get worse every year for 44 years. (I started out poorly) 44 to me is a decent 9 holes. I've had one eagle, maybe a cheap bucket o' birdies, mostly over time boges. And, of course the the frustrating triples and worse. I'm headed much like a mule. Never an actual lesson. Just this. The year, I started hammering the ball (compared to my golfing buddies). I have one question before I say, "I love this stinking game! " When you blast one, is it supposed to feel like it's attached to the club face for a split second?
Grant where is your dad teaching and what does he charge. I've taken one or two lessons in my life (at age 47) -I can't remember- and love his "fundamentals" style. I'm in Ponte vedra.. Is he in Stuart? I played on the ADT and minor regular tours in Asia for 15 years. Of course I got tips from the other players = mini lessons but know nothing of how I can improve my swing. Maybe your dad can help. I want to play on the over 50 tours now. I stopped playing on the reg tour at age 64 in 2020 due to injuries. Thanks
Your mom and dad are both absolute gems for being in the video helping support you
Yes they are!
They'd do it every day if they could. Nothing brings a parent more joy than seeing their kids prosper.
Is it just me thinking, but what a great future video 2 V 2, you and your dad vs George and his dad. Would be epic!
That is a great idea!
This was a worthless video with zero info given. Imagine paying this guy to give you a lesson 🤯🤯

Think he can caddy? I know it’s a lot of walking idk how good of shape he’s in.

If you arent a parent, you have no idea how much a mom and dad ABSOLUTELY love helping their son or daughter, perspectively.
your dad is Goated for not forgetting about left handers, i'm left handed and its hard to find videos from a lefty point of view.
“Let’s not forget the left handers.”
Grant, I already love your dad.

Grant your dad is absolutely an amazing person. It's great to see the family support of the game. Man your channel will always be my favorite.
That's sweet. Not everyone is lucky enough to have this kind of relationship with their dad. Good for you guys.
