To anyone who's only seen the anime I tried my best to look out for spoilers in the comments but I'll be real bruh I'm too lazy for all that shit so if you scroll down and get spoiled it isn't my fault and I can't be taken to court
i must say this series only gets better over time :) yeah i read the novel... long time ago... finished it too, no i won't tell you what happens deal with it x'DD just know it get even better! one of my fav of all times :D EDIt: (just wanted to point... this is for anyone that read this and only watched animu haha )
Well i guess im your polar opposite: Now i only watch isekai or similar anime. Tho Moshuko Tensei is one of the best ones its not the best. Oh and no game no life is not really a isekai its more of a arcade crap anime that pretends to be isekai. My favorite isekai right now is Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! But i aso love Drifters and Overlord. Trapped in a ottome game is great too. Mainly i love it when the main character is a real bad guy. Tho i hate isekai like how not to summon a demon lord because from the title its like YES another antagonist main character! But then the show RUINS IT by making him act like a typical bland good guy hero. Very lame. Will still watch it, but online once. But in Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! The guy nukes a whole section of a city just to show what true power looks like. He does heroic things but looks like such a vilain when doing it.
You say you like slice of life anime? Then you will love Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Half of the show is the everyday life of the main character going at school and trying to be a background character yet failing at it. At night he is that super strong evil guy like super man but evil version yet good ish guy.
Your experience reading the novels was exactly the same as mine. I read the whole thing in record pace and if it wasn't during a break I would've been sleep-deprived for a month.
@@ineedwafflestabernacle I reread it last summer and was almost surprised it was actually as good as I remembered it being. This is my favorite story of all time and I don't see anything beating it.
where can i read the lite novel i read 19 volumes from seven seas and i failed to find the other 7 volumes so iam asking where do i get the rest of the volumes coz seven seas release a volume every 3 months
@@aboodmq9541 The last 7 volumes aren't translated yet. If you want to read the rest of the story you'll have to read the fantranlated webnovel. There are some differences between the web and lightnovel, but not to the point of it being a different story.
The truly scary thing is how quick it took the author to write the full draft, to make a story of this quality and that long in only 2 and a half years is out of this planet.
Holy shit. 40 minutes of Mushoku Content, with God-tier effort and scriptwriting. Bruh this is such a blessing. I hope the algorithm blesses you. We also have similar experiences with the novels, as did others who've read it in full (and didn't get put out by child Rudy). I binge the hell out of it. My life literally revolved around it at one point. Then, when I heard there was an adaptation as soon as I finished the final volume, I was so hyped man. This entire series has been a journey and I could still really vividly see some of my favorite scenes (which are oddly slice of life or character moments) since it seemed like I was genuinely living another person's life. I don't know how this author does it, but he just delivers. I still remember that whenever I see "Turning Point" as the next chapter, I feel absolute dread. Turning Point 2 and 3 were pure depression, and then there's Turning Point 4, which is all the trauma of all the turning points but up to a hundred. I love this series man. Love all the characters, the world. It's so good. I'm glad this video exists, seeing someone talk about it for this long, with this much passion and wit, is honestly something I've been searching for ever since i finished the light novels years ago.
Thanks man that really means a lot, it's always nice to find other people who like the same stuff you do. And yeah I 100% agree on you like I can literally still see certain places and scenes from the story in my head when I think back on it because of how immersed I was. I'm glad I could finally provide the video you always wanted and also get to talk to someone else who loves the series as much as I do.
*Spoilers for the final fight* What's even more important with Orsted v Alek is when you realize why he wasn't involved in the fight in the first place. It was so that, 1. He could protect the village, 2. Act as the last line of defense, and 3. Not spend his precious mana for his eventual fight with Hitogami. THIS MEANS, that him joining the battle is essentially him putting his trust on Rudy, his friends and the preparations they've been doing. AND its him being a sweetie again because in his mind, he's doing this for his friends, something that he might've never had.
Put some spaces between the spoilers sentence and the main text Like this And yeah it's a really sweet moment. He never explicitly states it but I'm definitely certain that Orsted gets lonely after 20,000 years of loops since he already knows every possible scenario and exactly what is going to happen, not to mention the fact that most people he meets will either die or forget about him by the next loop, so seeing him finally open up was really sweet. There's a chapter in redundancy written from his perspective and he basically says that Rudy makes this whole loop much more interesting and that even if this loop fails and Rudy isn't in the next one, he's thankful for being able to experience something new for the first time and have life feel exciting. Orsted best girl no contest
The best about Mushoku Tensei to me is the fact that it truly feels like this is someone's life, like someone real, not some super powerful with perfect morality guy or some edgelord come to some land. It feels like if magic exists in this world, there will be some story quite like Rudy's
I finished this series almost 2 years ago and I just started getting obsessed with it again today because I had a dream about it lol. Once this series enters your life it just doesn't leave.
@@ineedwafflestabernacle It never leaves you, after the first cour I read everything and discussed for months of things I could have missed on my first read and build ups for the "sequel". And I assure that only once, in over a year and half of constant discussions online, I read about a dude who was satisfied with what he read in the WN's version and is cool with letting it go and not follow the anime adaptation or read the future sequel. Only once.
that Zenith in Millis arc is absolutely my favorite arc. this was a nice listen. and yes, i too binged it all in one go (yes. all in one go) back in 2016-17, I didnt sleep, I went to school reading it, went through the school day reading it, took a shower with one hand outside the shower room just reading it, ate food while reading it and basically paralyzed a whole day for it. now its a tradition for me to reread it all at once annually
I'm surprised and happy to see how many people had the same experience reading it. I'm the kind of person who can't re-read/watch things, but a really cool thing about MT is that there's so much foreshadowing that it's entirely different when you go back. While making this video there were so many scenes in the anime that were MASSIVE spoilers but make no sense unless you've read the whole thing
iam genuinely grateful theres someone who gets it as i did ,honestly ive been wanting to heae someone talk about this , but everyone just sees the massive volumes and backs away, the way the ending made me feel even now i cant put it to words and it has truly taken over my life
I'm glad I could be that person, but honestly I'm more glad to see other people who feel the same because I've been wanting to talk about the series with other people for so long
Honestly the whole series feels like one of those really long and realistic dreams where you live out your whole life, but then you wake up in your room and have to take a second to remember what dimension you're in
Mushoku Tensei is a masterpiece of fiction and the pinnacle example of what of an isekai fantasy can/should be. Turning point 3 and 4 truly solidified that conviction in my mind and heart. As a whole product, from the plot, sound design, music, artwork, animation, characters, themes, atmosphere, etc., this is legitimately the greatest and highest quality anime I’ve ever watched. Period. And upon reading much of the source material after watching the first season, I now know it’s only going to get better from here. That’s insane to think about… hopefully the production quality will stay consistently amazing. I hope the anime will make the remaining turning points as epic and grand as they deserve. Also, “Season 2 of re:zero really isn’t good” 😂 based and red-pilled
@@ineedwafflestabernacle lol yea, Re:zero wants to be as good as MT. Btw, about your comments on Vol 19, a TH-camr called EliteAri made a video discussing the significance of it and a few other volumes which come after it. It’s a really well done analysis so I think you should check it out
This man gets it. I spent my last winter break in high school bingeing this series. A great 13 days for me, except for that one day I got too depressed from reading and took the day off. The amount of immersion and the feeling of watching this life play out is something which I have a hard time describing to my friends. This series got me kick started back into reading where, excluding Mushoku Tensei, had me complete around 50 light novels in almost a year. As well as "take advice" from what I've read and watch and implement it in real life. Before people had an issue remembering my names and one day I was asked if I was present in class yesterday, by the teacher for attendance purposes. But now people remember my name at least and unironically forced a major character arc where nothing traumatic has happened. Aside from realizing that I was not the protagonist of a high school rom com, it was more like the Daily Lives of High School Boys with myself and 6 other people. Thank you for making this video it was extremely fun to watch.
The best way I can describe the immersion you feel reading this series is like those really elaborate and realistic dreams where you feel like you lived out a whole other life even though you've only been asleep for like 2 hours. I've also taken advice from mushoku tensei and some of it has genuinely changed my entire viewpoint on the world, although I still haven't entered my gigachad arc like Rudy did in the later volumes. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and watching my stupid video, if you've got any other light novel suggestions I'd be down to give them a shot, because I do really like reading but I just never know what to read
@@ineedwafflestabernacle I haven't read a series that were anywhere as immersive but Re:Zero, an isekai where the MC is a NEET given a "second" chance but not one where he starts life over from 0;like Rudeus had to. And it has been good to me, more impactful in ways of thinking and acting due to how close I relate to Subaru where i actually broke down andcried a few times and took frequent breaks to take in the atmosphere and take it in that way rather than just continuing devouring the words on a page. 86 is military based and has some pretty cool themes behind it while expanding the world every novel or 2. With covering new places every novel or 2, sometimes going back after stuff happens Although I believe the anime is superior not many books in general have gotten me to think and orchestrate a battle like this series. Even after reading autobiographies from veterans. Which some who read the series had a feeling of similarity to Spearhead Squadron allegedly. Spice and wolf has also been great, a series focused primarily on the relationship of 2 people. As they travel and peddle goods with other plots for drama taking place. As for character development I haven't seen much from what I've read which is 2 books. However the characters are older and finished the hormone filled teenage years of their life's. There is big differences on how they view things from the start of book 1 and the end of volume 2 probably cause of all the time they spend together. There is a lot of quipping and fun dialogue that bounces off between the two. Bakemonogatari is a harder one to explain. There are lots of Japanese jokes and dialogue with about a 180 flip on how quipping is done from spice and wolf. It involves supernatural stuff some from Japanese folklore and others like vampires and stuff like that. The imagery is also pretty neat with the anime blasting it in its own style despite it being literally just a street or a karaoke room. Which adds enjoyment to myself with the dichotomy of mundane life to the hyper stylized and exaggeration in the anime. So far that's pretty much all I've read due to the length of each series. Bit long of a comment. If you pick these up lemme know how it goes.
As someone who blew threw the story in a very similar amount of time I definitely understand the whole thing feeling like a giant blob. However it was the best written blob I've ever read and it was great to hear someone talk about all the underrated things that I loved about it that I never hear anyone else talk about. Amazing video, thank you for reminding me how much I loved this story. But one minor correction I must add. Roxy best girl.
I'm glad to see how many people experienced the same thing because that's honestly something I've struggled with a lot since I started reading again a few years ago, I go through series so quickly that the events in the individual books become blurred together. Roxy is also a worthy choice for best girl
I love the Shirone arc so much. We get to see Zanoba being such a badass general, Pax's past, Roxy's regret, and How Zanoba changed..... The battle to hold the castle is a cherry one top to see Mages being cool.
holy crap, even though i have seen other people down in the comments saying they couldnt stop reading mushoku tensei after first picking it up, funnily enough im in the same boat with all of you and mushoku tensei now is probably my favorite series of all time as well with how god damn well magonote wrote the story along with all the characters, and also i want to talk about something you brought up down below (spoilers) personally speaking volume 19 for me didnt seem like a waste and actually contributed to zanoba's character a lot since from what i see zanoba as a person never loved or really cared about his family and was content with what he had, but after having had personally seen rudeus's family develop over time and how wonderful they are with even his other friend cliff marrying off and finding happiness, and because he was never romantically interested in anyone, he started looking towards the only remaining family member he had left, pax, at first he didnt really even know why he wanted to go back to shirone and help pax so badly despite knowing hes an asshole who killed his entire family, but due to him wanting to seek relationships with his family again he tried to defend pax to the very end
That's a really interesting way to look at it, I know I felt jealous seeing Rudeus' relationships so I couldn't imagine how someone who's actually close to him must've felt. I do like Zanoba a lot as a character though, I'm not sure if I said that in the video but yeah it was cool seeing a little deeper side of him because he had started to be delegated to just comedic relief with his hyper obsession and outbursts about figurines. After having read some other comments about volume 19 I have a newfound appreciation towards it and I'm glad Rifujin remembered such a minor character as pax and gave him his own satisfying ending to his story
vol 26 cover is pure art, put that, the first and 13th vol covers together and the feelings just explode inside you, i just want to see badi in the figthing god armor so bad, one month until vol 26 is released, great video man, i share your love for the series and i get you, once you start talking about MT is hard to stop haha i remember first reading the manga, at the time it was around vol 6 i think so when i finished it i looked for the novel the same day and couldnt stop reading it until the end, and then i re read it from the start because i realize the manga wasnt doing it justice and as today i cant count how many times i re read it already, is just amazing and the best story i ever read and thats only the main novel, redundancy, jobbles oblige and old dragons tale expand the world and the story so much that is crazy
Mate, Volume 19 is *very* important. In Shirone, Rudy *fails*, even when Orsted told him that the fate of the world depends on it. But then Zanoba convinces Orsted to *not give up* to keep helping Rudy and Relying on the company to help prepare for what is to come, to not only rely on himself and his knowledge, but to trust them, and believe that they can help him, even when things go wrong. If Rudy and Zanoba hadn't failed in volume 19, then it's possible that Orsted wouldn't have fought Alek personally in Volume 26, because he would have believed it to already have failed, and decided to conserve his power for the next cycle. Volume 19 is incredibly important for Orsted's Arc.
Put a spoiler warning and some spaces for people who haven't the full thing One of my favorite things about this video besides finding other people who had similar experiences is seeing the people who disagreed with me on volume 19 be super chill about it and write out well thought reasons why they thought it was good. It's completely changed my feelings towards the volume and now I can appreciate it a lot more. Anyway though, you make a really good point, I've seen people say that 19 was important for Rudy, Roxy, and Pax, but I haven't seen anyone mention it also being important for Orsted, I hadn't even thought about that. If not for them fucking up Orsted would've probably remained extremely stoic and pessimistic and never opened up to trusting people later on
Funny, volume 19 is one of my favorites. Most importantly, there's so much Roxy, haha. Plus -> You finally get to see how war plays out in that world and mages role in it (and also how strong Zanoba, a blessed child is in an actual war). You seem to have forgotten Rudeus' main goal was to keep Zanoba alive. He failed his secondary goal. Sort of, he was ordered not to kill Pax, so I guess technically he didn't fail it, haha... But obviously his inaction was a great f*up. That volume also reinforces the theme that people can change, but also that even the smallest change in the past can change the future. Roxy meeting Rudeus made her temporarily expect too much of her students, so when she became Pax's teacher she didn't praise him much, which slowly warped his mind out of frustration (probably one of the reason he went all yandere at the time, which also got him exiled later). But everyone's past experiences with Pax made them all hesitate to help him, which led to that end.
I'm a big fan of stories where the protagonist is basically a side character to the true protagonist of a world. For example in Full Metal Alchemist you may be following two children on a mission to get their bodies back, but in that world the real conflict is an ongoing struggle between two immortals, their father and the homunculus in a flask (or Dante in the original anime). Similarly in this story Orsted is definitely the real protagonist of the world. The dude basically has return by death from ReZero and Rudeus and the rest of the pawns of the world are just kind of living their lives praying that this is the one time Orsted get's it done right so that their lives aren't wiped out of existence.
Coincidentally I started playing Oblivion recently and the player character in that game is really just a side-kick helping the actual hero of the story. It really is a unique concept and oddly enough it's kinda cozy to be able to take a backseat to the main events Also yeah it's crazy, as strong as Rudy is he still isn't the hero chosen by the sacred beast, not to mention the whole thing with that other guy that Nanahoshi knows being isekai'd into the world and being the actual hero and Rudy being reincarnated is just a side effect of that spell, it was really neat to see that this world didn't just revolve around Rudy
I don’t think I ever seen a video, that spoke that much out of my soul (except for the volume 19 stuff, that’s one of my favourite arcs in the entire series), thanks for making that video.
Spoilers One of the best parts about the fight between Orstead and Alek was that even though everyone was trying so hard to keep Orstead from using up his mana supply to later on fight Hitogami, this was the one out of his many hundreds of time loops that Orstead decided to spend his mana and fight to protect his friends rather than give up on the loop and go next, all because of Rudy's efforts. True bro-ship.
Put some spaces between the beginning of your comment to avoid spoiling any of the people who haven't gotten there yet. But yeah I really loved how Orsted slowly warmed up to Rudy later on and essentially became his favorite person, even though Rudy is still secretly terrified of him
What a beautiful video, I was pretty lucky to had read Mushoku tensei when I was at college with most of my friends also reading it so we always would gather around after reading 1 volume and discussing it.... Damn good times
That sounds like so much fun. I wish I had people in person to talk about the later moments with, but seeing all of the people here commenting about it is also incredible
Funny enough, I've seen some people hate on volume 19 and the Claire/Zenith story saying they are "anticlimatic". The end sure is unexpected, but I love both (there's just too many reasons, but they show sides of characters you hand't seen before, and improve the lore, and show the humanity of their respective "villains", etc, etc).
I will say the reason that all these mundane life still creates a cohesive story is that the plot for this story is to be a better person. I can also consider this story to be a slice-of-life of an individual living in a fantasy world with adventurers, dungeons, magic and swords.
Theres no way you think the absolute degeneracy, depravity and sickness this show esposes is in any way positive. Vulgarity and Pedophilia are not conducive to good storytelling.
@@teo2157 the degeneracy is indeed not positive, which is why throughout the story we see rudeus slowly become a better person, the story shows rudeus at his worst then show his journey and growth from there
@@teo2157 from my understanding, this is a story that says that even an absolute piece of trash of a human being can in fact improve and be better if they actually try, so maybe this story just isn't for you
Apparently someone very influential in the anime industry had similar experience with the novel (reading first 9 volumes in one sitting or so i read somewhere). So if you like the animation and overall production then consider this... whole new studio was created for this masterpiece, just to make sure that it gets the adaptation as good as it deserves.
I love this piece of information. Someone was so passionate about this series that without even knowing if it'd be successful or not they made a whole new anime studio just to make it as best as they could
I would write in this comment how much i love this story and how much it means to me but i would go on for a long time and a bunch of people already have that so i will just say i share the same sentiment of how obsessed i am with this work,i saw the title of the video and instantly went yes, thats exactly what i think aswell,no other piece of media or anything made me absorbed as i was when watching then reading this master piece of work, through out those days it was the only thing on my mind every single second of the day i would literally read every second of the day while eating while taking a shower i would have my phone with one hand out, while changing my clothes, i forgot about my studies all together heck even when i was walking down the street which was pretty stupid seeing how dangerous it was, going to and during class or anywhere else, i kept reading till my eyes couldnt hold back sleep at night anymore and i would end up dreaming about it then just waking up and repeating, staying glued to it i binged through it in like a month ,its always great to see others who feel the same about this story other than me and in the end i guess went off for a long while huh lol, great video man and keep having fun with what you're doing
Mushoku is by far one of my favorite novels ive read, and is a work i really enjoy and come back to often as ive gone through different periods on my life and all, and i end appreciating new stuff everytime, noticing new details or foreshadows planted way earlier for future things, its just a work that has a message and you interpret it as you go, the story i always call it simple, because at its core, its truly simple "a man gets a second chance", and jesus it goes to all ends with that, now, a bit of spoiler warning more spoiler warning some moments really have made me go through a variety of emotions when reading it, Rudy and paul reconciliation in millis made me cry a lot, Norn realizing Rudy was just a normal guy trying his best at being a nice brother to her really hit hard since, Norn is one of the most relatable characters and i really felt her story, and then the whole events from paul's death until its funeral, specially at the end, the parting words of Rudy on his grave, that small talk of him to how he finally accepted him as his dad and would live properly, really hits hard and shows how much rudy from vol 1 has come, then the whole turning point 4, jesus christ ive never felt so choked out on something like that diary before, i felt everything, repulse, disgust, sadness, confusion, the whole diary chapters single handledly almost gave me a panic attack and made me have to read, stop, read, stop and so on cus it was so inmersive you could feel the pain as for other things, while the initial parts of volume 19 felt a bit weak, id say the whole with Zanoba and Pax is something i feel more now as im away from my home and family due to my studies, the feeling of homesickness and wanting to be close to them, and then the whole Pax character, honestly made me feel bad about him, he was same as Rudy and he even ended getting his own second chance and tried it all, made a coup and tried to lead the country but then was not accepted, and ended deciding to suicide, the pain of his wife having to more or less accept his death and then also hte pain or risk of them being alive due to political things, it may have magical setting but the interpersonal dramas and stories feel so more genuine, and then Zanoba realizing he wanted to care for his family, that he wanted a place to call home and was searching through it, and then tying with his reason to naming Julie like that and what to say, Orsted, one of the best characters in a world of best characters Orsted whole story gave it the sense of "now this is an isekai" and then smacks it out of the park with all the ways it humanized this so seemingly monster of a person, his interactions with Rudy's family, his own friendship with rudy, cemented the moment rudy swears to make the path to help him even with Pax death, that moment pretty much Orsted being so willing to pull the plug to end this timeline, which is also why he must not been around in oldeus one, given that Ariel who he needed and pax died and probably Ruijerd too due to the incident on the superd village, he had pulled the plug and deemed it a failure and waited for the next try, the loud joy i felt when he went against Alek and saying "I too want to trust in my comrades", its just phenomenal And not to mention, the final turning point or also the turning point zero, teh replay back miko, her story in the epilogue be it small, but man it is pure MT, out of desperation and love she went "screw the world, screw everything, i want to save my loved one from unfairnes" and did the biggest gamble ever, changed the entire world out of pure grit and despair wishing for that hope that something would change, and ties with rudy, by making a single choice unchained everything, by deciding to save some kids on the streets from a truck, he got a chance out of happenstance and gave it back to who allowed him to without knowing he did, just because he chosed to be a better person, not a saint, not a punisher, etc, just, more than the nothing he was at his death
There's so many things I love about MT, but the biggest thing definitely has to be the fact that it does the whole "second chance" thing so well and intertwines it into the story instead of having it be a gimmick. I mentioned it in the video but it's so refreshing to have an isekai where the reincarnation thing is VITAL to the plot being told. It's insane how well the series handles personal relationships and gives sufficient backstory to the most insignificant of characters and subverts so many tropes in anime. After finishing it I literally use MT as a standard for how well other animes handle character relationships and motivations, because of this story someone published for free over the course of 2 years can do it, I don't see why all these other long running anime can't
I started watch the anime a month ago, now I'm at vol 25 of the light novel, and even took the advice to read it from volume 1 after anime. Never have I read anything to stay me up all night when I'm tired as hell, MT did.
I did the same, started from volume 1 even after finishing the anime. Even though I already knew everything that was gonna happen and I never re-read/watch anything I was still invested the whole time
I've recommended my friend to read MT since she was great fan of it. Now she hates it. It caused her too much trauma and emotional rollercoaster + her favorite characters died... she literally couldn't handle it buy she finished it...
9:25 It's a body of a child and *mostly* the mind of a 30 year old We don't know the exact specifics, but it's a fact that he was able to learn much much more quickly than normal when he was a toddler, for example. It's entirely possible that his mind is affected in a similar way in terms of maturity and sexuality
38:30 His fight against the knights was so incredible and powerful and the redemption of Claire… just so amazing i can’t even describe the feelings it gave me in words. Season 4 material though 😰
SUCH an underrated fight in the series honestly. It sucks we won't see it adapted for a while but at least we've got season 2 airing now and it has my favorite arc so I'm happy
I had done the same thing last year. Picked up the novel, and just spent around a month fully invested in it. Constantly thinking about it even when i wasn't reading it. I can't think of any time I've been that invested into something before. Mushoku quickly grew to become my favorite series of all time. The characters, and the way the interact with each other all feel so real. I really can't think of any other series that portrays relationships as real as Mushoku does. From parent and child relations like Rudy and Paul, to friendships like Rudy and Zanoba, to the relationships between Rudy and his wives, all of them are handled in a way that just feels so natural. There are so many characters in this series I love, even characters that are pretty terrible people I love because you understand why they are the way they are. The world building is also incredible. The mana disaster was such a great way to open the world up. You got to see many locations as they traveled home, met people that would become important later on, and allowed those places to be revisited and expanded upon. On top of that you even get more world building due to the mana disaster when Rudy had to journey to help rescue Zenith. For my favorite volume I think I'd pick 11 or 12. I could probably continue writing for a while, but I'll leave it there. I love this series so much.
If you liked Mushoku Tensei, than you have to watch (or even better, read) Ascendance of a Bookworm. It's finally an Anime with zero fanservice, but it has about the same level of world building as Mushoku tensei. I love the story, especially once I found out that the first dozen of volumes are only an introduction to the world.
This is one of the few stories where you *really* want a sequel, but haven’t gotten one. And that’s because the story perfectly sets up a sequel with *multiple* story threads sprinkled throughout the story, but the author just hasn’t gotten around to making that sequel yet(if he actually plans to)
Everyone is horny at times, some more than others, but there isn't anyone in the show who doesn't display at least some level of sexual drive.. I love this anime for actually showing that.
Honestly my first exposure to this series was when I kept seeing the name Mushoku Tensei pop up online during my anime binges and decided to give Season 1 a go. This was before the last two episodes came out I believe. It absolutely absorbed me into its story, and once you can past Kid Rudy, you finally start to see the charm that this story holds. All the characters, story arcs, Turning Points, and more, add up to this beautifully amazing story that makes me want to write my own story on par with it. After Season 1, I decided to pick up the light novels with Volume 7, and the story proceeded to pull me in more. I have since finished all the light novels and have begun collecting the paperbacks. I currently have Volumes 10-18, and Volumes 21-26. Can't wait to order the missing volumes off the interwebs to complete my collection
Thank you for putting into words why this is the best piece of media I have ever consumed. I now know how to express my absolute obsession with this story. You are doing God's work.
I've had that obsessive need to continue reading a piece of media 4 times that I remember. First was reading Tower of God, second was the Mushoku Tensei WN, Third was the Mushoku Tensei LN, and fourth was the Ascendance of a Bookworm LNs. Each of these I was obsessive in the reading and craved to know more to the detriment of primarily my sleep schedule and work productivity lol. I think that just goes to show how immersive those properties are to be able to just suck you in and not let you go until you've completed it.
16:48± this was literally me, you putting a lot into words that I can't convey to others. This is a nice breathe of fresh sitting at the table with the real cool kids remembering the absolute amazing story MT is xD
Eh gotta disagree about Eris being best though, more of Sylphie fan. I really actually liked Sara allot too, I'd like to see some alt story where they work out ☺️
The only anime that makes me binge reading the novel, Both light novels and web novels. Once, the Sequel comes out, I will reread it on Shousetsukaninare.
I get how you feel about no one you know around you having finished it. I literally cannot talk about any post anime content with people because they all havent read it. Reading from the comments alot of people binged this story huh? same. Honestly a masterpiece 11/10 would wipe my mind to read again
1:03 is way to true, I felt pretty much the exact same way about moshoku tensai, I'm more into writing/directing in shows and don't watch a lot of anime but moshoku tensai does a surprisingly lot right
Agreed my friend, I’ve only watched the anime so far but once season 2 is out I’m hoping to read or at least buy the LN to have it and show my love for the show
Yeah it's one of my favorite endings. Whenever it plays after that one episode where they go stargazing and you finally understand all the lyrics is absolutely gorgeous
2:58 indeed thats because jobless reincarnation is realistic in most aspects, like other anime when the MC gets isekaid he suddenly becomes this gigachad and leaves all his insecurities and troubles behind, not in mushoku rudy carries them for a very long time and so many more little things that make this anime great! :) btw I❤MT
Also, based on your reasons for liking MS, Demon Slayer, and Death Note, I will recommend kentaro Miura's Berserk if you have not had the chance to read the Manga. The 97 Anime is the best one of the several iterations if you wanted to see it animated to start. FYI, it is extremely rated R but the characters follow similar styled arcs to the ones you listed which, for me, was more than enough to bypass the extremeness.
Oh yeah I love Berserk, I've seen the anime and read up until the end of the conviction arc in the manga and it was absolutely amazing, Guts is one of my favorite protagonists ever. It sucks though because my body is a bitch and I get headaches really often from reading manga because of all the harsh black and whites so unless it's colored, I can't read manga for long periods of time.
I'm glad someone finally acknowledged that, that was my favorite joke in the whole video. But yes at least Sara was happy by the end and they worked things out :)
This piece of fiction is amazing, because of it, I was inspired to make my own Isekai that takes tired out teopes and build on them or just do something entirely different.
Amazing video, I'm trying so hard NOT to watch the whole video right now since I have not read the LN (not because I don't want to but because I want to save it for after I finished the already fully-adapted anime, it will be the first ever LN I'll ever read). From what I've seen ss1, the manga and some spoilers, Mushoku Tensei had already become my favorite story in all media. Despite being set in a fantasy world, this show is the most realistic fictional story I've ever seen. Words can't express how much I love it, I can't wait for ss2, hopefully they can keep up with ss1 quality (it's kinda hard since I've heard they have a pretty tight schedule and some staff changes).
Yea, I agree I hate that trope of if I work hard I can overcome anybody thats stronger & gifted than me that may be true in some cases BUT that only happens if someone is talented & fails to train also , no matter how much a person trains in real life they will never be as fast as usain bolt UNLESS their genetics align to it...
Exactly I hate it when anime try and make it seem like you can do ANYTHING if you just put your mind to it because it creates this overly positive and simple view of the world. It's just a fact that people will not only always be better than you and some people will just naturally have more room for improvement/growth than you ever will, and there's nothing wrong with that it's just part of life. Like as an example yeah I can play piano or something and practice really hard everyday but there's still gonna be people out there who've been doing it before I was even born, or people who have a much higher affinity for it than I do and can do something that takes me 6 hours in less than 10 minutes.
i watched this a few weeks ago, nearly watched the spoiler section, but you basically forced me to read all of it, and damn the light novels were so damn good and im so upset that im already done with them
No way that's awesome. Most of the people who watch the full video have already read all the LN, but the fact that my video got someone into reading them is super flattering to hear. I'm glad you enjoyed the light novels and even came back to watch the rest of my dumbass video
Nahh bro I just watched your TES vid thats one of my favourite games franchises oat and now I discover that you like MT too? thats an easy sub for me. Nice taste btw
This anime had ended up being my #2 of all time, from the expert writing, the phenomenal visuals, all the way to the sound design. The intros not being the cliché op. This is a masterpiece that I would put against any ghibli. There is one thing I belive you missed or didn't give enough credit was zanoba. Rudy had realized from the story oldeus that zanoba and cliff were some of the most important people of his life. They stuck as the boys through same as Eris. So Rudy had tried to pay back zanoba. And pax was used as a foil of Rudy especially in that part right before his end. And I cannot stress this enough. The Roxy figurine is plot essential. Without that figure they would not have had anywhere close to figuring out the multi-plainar/versal teleportaion. Because without pax getting it, then zanoba, then zanoba figuring out Rudy made it, then becoming friends with Rudy, and helping Rudy with his house, where the combat maid doll was, and how it worked. They would not have known that circles could be stacked. The figure is a linch pin. For all of that.
Really nice video, i really enjoy watching/reading other fellows MT's fans who are passionate about the story. Another thing I will never stop praising Rifujin is the pacing. He always alternates between Slice of lifes arcs and adventure/intense fights arcs. You never feel that the slice of life is going on for to long, the same goes for the fights, they are brief and intense. Many fail to do this, an example would be the Uprising or Marley Arcs from AoT, Isayama used his readers to intense pacing, so when he switched to slower pacings those arcs were disliked a lot during publication. Rifujin used from the beginning his readers to alternate between the two. So no arc is ever dull, besides maybe personal preferences for the events or characters involved.
Yeah exactly, from the first volume MT sets a consistent pace and it sticks with it throughout so the story never feels like it's dragging. You also described my thoughts on the later parts of attack on titan perfectly, it tried to slow down a lot and explain this massive world that was just introduced but Isayama couldn't just stick with that so he threw in a bunch of plot twists that went nowhere, like Mikasa being royalty or the stuff about the Ackerman's, so much missed potential man. The pacing was so inconsistent and everytime Isayama didn't wanna bother elaborating on anything he'd just use the time skip or Ymir as a cop out. It sucks too because the beach reveal at the end of season 3 is literally one of my favorite plot twists ever, but after that the series just slowly kept going more and more downhill
yesssss i'm so glad my friend get me to read MT back in 2015, my experience is basically the same, it took over my life, it's the only thing i do day in day out, turning point 4 left me a broken mess, and the post nut clarity when finishing it was incomparable to anything i've felt from other stories welcome to the cool kids gang btw, have you seen the fanmade AMVs for turning point 3 and 4? those were intense
about Vol. 19 Besides some of the stuff others have mentioned about Orsted's arc, I was also of your opinion as I was reading it, especially given the Death God fight was just kind of there, but the chapter of Rudeus consoling Roxy about her failures is one of my favourites as it shows Rudeus finally and definitively helping Roxy in the way she has helped him in vol 1 and 12
After i watched the anime i binged the whole LN. What a fantastic story. My favorite part was the return to millis arc. That ending in the court room literally had me in 😭. Great video and I'll definitely check out more. Oh ya, did you read the side story Old Dragons Tale?
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch it, I'm glad you liked it. And yeah dude Old Dragons tale is great, I loved the way it expanded upon some of the deeper lore in the world. plus baby orsted
Your video deserves way more subs than this, I use youtube almost 12 hours everyday and barely sub to anyone, but your content deserves like and sub from this video alone. And I too gone though the whole series in one go, I even read it when I’m waiting for the red light when I was driving, the writing is just so good that it sucks you into that world or to be more precise, suck you into Rudy’s life
I do the exact same thing, in the last year I've only subbed to 4-5 channels, so the fact that I was able to be one of those channels for someone else really means a lot.
To top off the sexual stuff in MT, i think it's the best use of sexual content I've seen in anime. There's always a purpose symbolically, metaphorically, or narratively. Rudeus' early sexual misconduct is shown bc of how distorted, twisted, and ugly his sense of sex really is. He's a 30 y/o hikikomori, he's going to be mentally fucked up in every manner. But the differences between his 1st sexual encounter with Eris and the 2nd is just amazing. In the 1st, he's twisted, he wants to take a advantage of a girl who realistically, is not old enough, not really willing, and has unstable emotions. In the 2nd encounter, he doesn't even want to have sex. He understands the importance of sex emotionally, physically, and mentally to a better extent than he did before. How he wants to hold out bc Eris is mentally distraught and empty, and so he can fulfill his promise with Eris before. In the end, it's Eris who takes advantage of Rudy.
From what I've seen in the anime, it never takes a critical view of his sexual misconduct / pedophilia. In fact, it's presented in a lighthearted, harmless, or even comedic manner. That's why I dropped it, it's pretty disgusting to be honest, and it's bizarre that people talk about it like it's an excellent philosophical take on sexuality. It is not.
@@aimforthehead90 from what I've read, the anime cut out a lot of rudy's inner monologue which expressed his hatred for himself for his actions, so I guess, if a critical view is what you want, try reading the LN, that might give you what you want
@@aimforthehead90it’s not played for comedic effect tho. When Rudy assaults Eris while she’s a sleep, the goofy atmosphere behind it is to illustrate how lightly Rudy takes the whole thing. The next time he tries getting physically intimate with Eris, he is rejected and he feels genuinely distraught and remorseful about the whole thing. In fact, he doesn’t pull any shit like that ever again. You dropped the show like an episode away from the episode where Rudy rights those wrongs you couldn’t stomach. Your loss I guess.
I really can relate to all that you talked about in this video but unfortunately for me It`s not the best there is though I anyway the same way as you read the whole thing in about 2-2.5 weeks sleep read sleep kinda thing. Before I watched then read mushoku tensei I watched and then read Ascendance of a bookworm and I enjoyed it more. Like these two are isekai with reincarnation but are so different that are almost incomparable but I would really recommend at least check anime(quality is worse than Mushoku tensei anime and light novels that are based on but still an enjoyable watch). So yeah this whole thing is recommendation on Ascendance of a bookworm
Prez is indeed best girl and finally after an endless amount of loops in this one he had a friend for the first time. BTW if you haven't you should read old dragon's tale, I really hope in the sequel Laplace and the girl he lived with (if you know you know) both regain their memories.
@@ineedwafflestabernacle That's kind of the secret of MT, Rudeus ISN'T and HAS NEVER BEEN the chosen one. He was a spectator who got caught up in things way larger than him and his goal and purpose was always just to live a peaceful life with his family. Compared to the truly strong people he is painfully weak but his determination to do anything when his family is involved is what earned the respect of Orsted and Alek, that's why when Eris dueled Ars during that one redundancy arc and Ars asked what more did she expect him to do she answered "Rudeus would have groveled". Rudy was never going to be the savior of the world but the world is so rich with lore and factions with their own agendas that the viewers can't help but wish to see more. I wanna see Laplace's assistant regain her memories, I wanna see her tell the real story of Perugius's birth to him, I wanna see the journey of the legendary hero with Leon, I wanna see the rebirth of not just Demon God Laplace but Demon Dragon General Laplace. I wanna see the fates of Rudy's kids. I wanna see Nanahoshi wake up and reunite with Shinohara Akito. I wanna see the fighting god unsealed once Hitogami is defeated. I wanna learn more about what the being that took over hitogami was, I wanna learn why even after the war of the gods the world is still shown as a six sided die. Through the eyes of Rudy we were introduced to an unbelievably vibrant world during an incredibly tumultuous time period and it's only natural to wonder how things will develop. BTW that reminds me I very much disagree about your assessment that volume 19 isn't that important, I personally loved it cause it was Rudy's biggest fuckup. He let his prejudice guide his choices and that led to the little brother of one of his friends taking their own life and despite what we were assuming about him he genuinely tried to improve himself, Pax at that point was an even better analog to Rudy cause he too wanted to become a better person but unlike Rudy only two people were there to support him and Rudy who should have been the best person to sympathize with him is who pushed him to the brink to the point he chose to take his own life believing all his effort was pointless. That volume also made Zanoba from a comic relief character into a tragic character and made me empathize with him so much more.
@@Drakno2 Dude same here. I can't wait to see what Rifujin does in the sequel to conclude everything. There's so many interesting loose ends and bits of lore I wanna see explored. And yes, 100%, there were a lot of comments talking about how great volume 19 is and all the significance it has and I've completely changed my mind. I guess it's partly my fault since I binged the series and it's difficult to remember exactly when everything happened. Someone pointed out that the best part of 19 is how it shows Orsted finally letting down his guard and beginning to trust Rudy and believe in him, which I also agree with and found very cute/sweet. I really appreciate you watching and be able to share your opinion in a well written way without getting upset.
@@ineedwafflestabernacle I really hope sometime during the sequel we get an Orsted POV chapter similar to the Eris POV chapter from volume 6 recounting from when he first met Rudeus till the day Rudy passed away.
I wish I was in your shoes and I could read them for the first time again. Oh and also season 2 comes out this July, so there's something to be excited about
I really enoyed the way Death God fought. Even when saying that he is done and dont want to harm any1 u cant trust him and must beware all the time. The tension was always high with him in volume 19.
100% agree with your takes on mushoku tensei and now i can't wait for the anime to continue and to see everything bought to life with animation on a side note have you read ascendance of a bookworm as i think you would truly enjoy that as well since its a fantasy slice of life isekai with flashes of interesting action scenes which are surprisingly grounded the anime is a pretty good adaptions currently up to part 2 volume 4 (7th instalment) currently the english translation is up to part 5 volume 1 (22nd instalment) but some of my favourite stories are the short story collections as they you different looks at the world from all sorts of different people really fleshing out the world building the story has 5 parts total which look at different moments in the main characters life
on the point of progress and putting in the work: given the overall story its kind of a central point but not as depressing overall since you read it you know what beast Eris actually becomes through training and dedication
@@ineedwafflestabernacle ikr. But I could tell you had good taste from your profile picture already, best video on the Internet. There is no greater comedy genius than "waffle falling over"
Tiny spoiler context for what I mean: first time she and rudeus have a mock battle after the final of the current anime : she beats him 9/1 and the 1 was a fluke of luck and cause she was using a wooden sword. He goes all out and she beats the shit out of him with a wooden sword without as much as breaking a sweat... That's how much that scene drove her determination
When I finished Mushoku Tensei I just felt empty and detached from reality because I genuinely felt like I was him because of the time I spent reading the light novels
To anyone who's only seen the anime I tried my best to look out for spoilers in the comments but I'll be real bruh I'm too lazy for all that shit so if you scroll down and get spoiled it isn't my fault and I can't be taken to court
You goin to court right now cuh, be there or be square.
i must say this series only gets better over time :) yeah i read the novel... long time ago... finished it too, no i won't tell you what happens deal with it x'DD just know it get even better! one of my fav of all times :D EDIt: (just wanted to point... this is for anyone that read this and only watched animu haha )
Man the ending of mushoku tensei is bittersweet
Your experience reading the novels was exactly the same as mine. I read the whole thing in record pace and if it wasn't during a break I would've been sleep-deprived for a month.
Okay good I'm glad it wasn't just me who no lifed it for a month straight
@@lucasvanwijngaarden670 would you mind sending me a link for the translated web novel
The truly scary thing is how quick it took the author to write the full draft, to make a story of this quality and that long in only 2 and a half years is out of this planet.
Not to mention he did it for free too
*Spoilers for the final fight*
What's even more important with Orsted v Alek is when you realize why he wasn't involved in the fight in the first place.
Put some spaces between the spoilers sentence and the main text
Like this
And yeah it's a really sweet moment.
Yeah exactly, it's an Isekai that legitimately is just someone's everyday life and not some power fantasy trash
I finished this series almost 2 years ago and I just started getting obsessed with it again today because I had a dream about it lol. Once this series enters your life it just doesn't leave.
Dude seriously. It still occupies a small portion of my brain ever since I fully read it and that was months ago.
While making this video there were so many scenes in the anime that were MASSIVE spoilers but make no sense unless you've read the whole thing
iam genuinely grateful theres someone who gets it as i did ,honestly ive been wanting to heae someone talk about this , but everyone just sees the massive volumes and backs away, the way the ending made me feel even now i cant put it to words and it has truly taken over my life
I'm glad I could be that person, but honestly I'm more glad to see other people who feel the same because I've been wanting to talk about the series with other people for so long
Honestly the whole series feels like one of those really long and realistic dreams where you live out your whole life, but then you wake up in your room and have to take a second to remember what dimension you're in
@@ineedwafflestabernacle honestly still roaming in that world
Mushoku Tensei is a masterpiece of fiction and the pinnacle example of what of an isekai fantasy can/should be.
Finally someone who agrees that season fucking sucked
The battle to hold the castle is a cherry one top to see Mages being cool.
ok just to clarify:
Best girl: Orsted
Best boy: Eris
holy crap, even though i have seen other people down in the comments saying they couldnt stop reading mushoku tensei after first picking it up, funnily enough im in the same boat with all of you and mushoku tensei now is probably my favorite series of all time as well with how god damn well magonote wrote the story along with all the characters, and also i want to talk about something you brought up down below (spoilers)
personally speaking volume 19 for me didnt seem like a waste and actually contributed to zanoba's character a lot since from what i see zanoba as a person never loved or really cared about his family and was content with what he had, but after having had personally seen rudeus's family develop over time and how wonderful they are with even his other friend cliff marrying off and finding happiness, and because he was never romantically interested in anyone, he started looking towards the only remaining family member he had left, pax, at first he didnt really even know why he wanted to go back to shirone and help pax so badly despite knowing hes an asshole who killed his entire family, but due to him wanting to seek relationships with his family again he tried to defend pax to the very end
Yes the side story which tell the story after the main noval are so good 😍
Mate, Volume 19 is *very* important.
Put a spoiler warning and some spaces for people who haven't the full thing
One of my favorite things about this video besides finding other people who had similar experiences is seeing the people who disagreed with me on volume 19 be super chill about it and write out well thought reasons why they thought it was good.
Plus ->
You finally get to see how war plays out in that world and mages role in it (and also how strong Zanoba, a blessed child is in an actual war).
This is hands down the best mushoku tensei review i have seen so far. I agree with 100% of this video. Thank you for making this
Having seen how good some of the other reviews are on here, it really means a lot that you think that way, thanks for watching man
I'm a big fan of stories where the protagonist is basically a side character to the true protagonist of a world.
It really is a unique concept and oddly enough it's kinda cozy to be able to take a backseat to the main events
Also yeah it's crazy, as strong as Rudy is he still isn't the hero chosen by the sacred beast, not to mention the whole thing with that other guy that Nanahoshi knows being isekai'd into the world and being the actual hero and Rudy being reincarnated is just a side effect of that spell, it was really neat to see that this world didn't just revolve around Rudy
Mushoku tensei is the first novel i read and only can say its still one of my favorites stories of all times
I don’t think I ever seen a video, that spoke that much out of my soul (except for the volume 19 stuff, that’s one of my favourite arcs in the entire series), thanks for making that video.
As one of the three people who has seen sakura hall I can confirm that mushoku tensei is a masterpiece.
I like your profile picture
Spoilers
One of the best parts about the fight between Orstead and Alek was that even though everyone was trying so hard to keep Orstead from using up his mana supply to later on fight Hitogami, this was the one out of his many hundreds of time loops that Orstead decided to spend his mana and fight to protect his friends rather than give up on the loop and go next, all because of Rudy's efforts. True bro-ship.
Put some spaces between the beginning of your comment to avoid spoiling any of the people who haven't gotten there yet.
But yeah I really loved how Orsted slowly warmed up to Rudy later on and essentially became his favorite person, even though Rudy is still secretly terrified of him
Why is it that I've found a lot of Muv-Luv fans that also happen to love MT? Just a random anecdote. Both stories I adore btw.
Yeah definitely, it starts off as an Isekai but more becomes a slice of life/occasional fantasy action adventure
Theres no way you think the absolute degeneracy, depravity and sickness this show esposes is in any way positive. Vulgarity and Pedophilia are not conducive to good storytelling.
@@teo2157 the degeneracy is indeed not positive, which is why throughout the story we see rudeus slowly become a better person, the story shows rudeus at his worst then show his journey and growth from there
@@mikaeleulrichzagetapoc2022 some things are unforgivable
@@teo2157 from my understanding, this is a story that says that even an absolute piece of trash of a human being can in fact improve and be better if they actually try, so maybe this story just isn't for you
ngl rudy's armor under the coat is top tier drip
Yeah seriously his design later on is so good
Apparently someone very influential in the anime industry had similar experience with the novel (reading first 9 volumes in one sitting or so i read somewhere). So if you like the animation and overall production then consider this... whole new studio was created for this masterpiece, just to make sure that it gets the adaptation as good as it deserves.
I love this piece of information. Someone was so passionate about this series that without even knowing if it'd be successful or not they made a whole new anime studio just to make it as best as they could
I hope the mushoku tensei anime will be long enough to have all of the amazing stuff that the light novel has
I would write in this comment how much i love this story and how much it means to me but i would go on for a long time and a bunch of people already have that so i will just say i share the same sentiment of how obsessed i am with this work,i saw the title of the video and instantly went yes, thats exactly what i think aswell,no other piece of media or anything made me absorbed as i was when watching then reading this master piece of work, through out those days it was the only thing on my mind every single second of the day i would literally read every second of the day while eating while taking a shower i would have my phone with one hand out, while changing my clothes, i forgot about my studies all together heck even when i was walking down the street which was pretty stupid seeing how dangerous it was, going to and during class or anywhere else, i kept reading till my eyes couldnt hold back sleep at night anymore and i would end up dreaming about it then just waking up and repeating, staying glued to it i binged through it in like a month ,its always great to see others who feel the same about this story other than me and in the end i guess went off for a long while huh lol, great video man and keep having fun with what you're doing
Mushoku is by far one of my favorite novels ive read, and is a work i really enjoy and come back to often as ive gone through different periods on my life and all, and i end appreciating new stuff everytime, noticing new details or foreshadows planted way earlier for future things, its just a work that has a message and you interpret it as you go, the story i always call it simple, because at its core, its truly simple "a man gets a second chance", and jesus it goes to all ends with that, now, a bit of spoiler warning
more spoiler warning
some moments really have made me go through a variety of emotions when reading it, Rudy and paul reconciliation in millis made me cry a lot, Norn realizing Rudy was just a normal guy trying his best at being a nice brother to her really hit hard since, Norn is one of the most relatable characters and i really felt her story, and then the whole events from paul's death until its funeral, specially at the end, the parting words of Rudy on his grave, that small talk of him to how he finally accepted him as his dad and would live properly, really hits hard and shows how much rudy from vol 1 has come, then the whole turning point 4, jesus christ ive never felt so choked out on something like that diary before, i felt everything, repulse, disgust, sadness, confusion, the whole diary chapters single handledly almost gave me a panic attack and made me have to read, stop, read, stop and so on cus it was so inmersive you could feel the pain
as for other things, while the initial parts of volume 19 felt a bit weak, id say the whole with Zanoba and Pax is something i feel more now as im away from my home and family due to my studies, the feeling of homesickness and wanting to be close to them, and then the whole Pax character, honestly made me feel bad about him, he was same as Rudy and he even ended getting his own second chance and tried it all, made a coup and tried to lead the country but then was not accepted, and ended deciding to suicide, the pain of his wife having to more or less accept his death and then also hte pain or risk of them being alive due to political things, it may have magical setting but the interpersonal dramas and stories feel so more genuine, and then Zanoba realizing he wanted to care for his family, that he wanted a place to call home and was searching through it, and then tying with his reason to naming Julie like that and what to say, Orsted, one of the best characters in a world of best characters
Orsted whole story gave it the sense of "now this is an isekai" and then smacks it out of the park with all the ways it humanized this so seemingly monster of a person, his interactions with Rudy's family, his own friendship with rudy, cemented the moment rudy swears to make the path to help him even with Pax death, that moment pretty much Orsted being so willing to pull the plug to end this timeline, which is also why he must not been around in oldeus one, given that Ariel who he needed and pax died and probably Ruijerd too due to the incident on the superd village, he had pulled the plug and deemed it a failure and waited for the next try, the loud joy i felt when he went against Alek and saying "I too want to trust in my comrades", its just phenomenal
And not to mention, the final turning point or also the turning point zero, teh replay back miko, her story in the epilogue be it small, but man it is pure MT, out of desperation and love she went "screw the world, screw everything, i want to save my loved one from unfairnes" and did the biggest gamble ever, changed the entire world out of pure grit and despair wishing for that hope that something would change, and ties with rudy, by making a single choice unchained everything, by deciding to save some kids on the streets from a truck, he got a chance out of happenstance and gave it back to who allowed him to without knowing he did, just because he chosed to be a better person, not a saint, not a punisher, etc, just, more than the nothing he was at his death
9:25 It's a body of a child and *mostly* the mind of a 30 year old
We don't know the exact specifics, but it's a fact that he was able to learn much much more quickly than normal when he was a toddler, for example.
It sucks we won't see it adapted for a while but at least we've got season 2 airing now and it has my favorite arc so I'm happy
the way you explain your thought process of what makes a show you watch enjoyable is very captivating. great work!
Thanks, it's really flattering to hear that someone actually enjoyed me just rambling about something I like for 40 minutes
This video embodies my feelings when it comes to Mushoku Tensei, beautiful video.
Oh man you said exactly what's on my mind after reading mushoku tensei!! Best review Ive watched so far!!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot
If you liked Mushoku Tensei, than you have to watch (or even better, read) Ascendance of a Bookworm. It's finally an Anime with zero fanservice, but it has about the same level of world building as Mushoku tensei. I love the story, especially once I found out that the first dozen of volumes are only an introduction to the world.
Yeah I've seen a couple other people comment suggesting I watch it and from what they've said it seems really interesting
I really enjoyed hearing another WN reader's opinion on the story, thank you for making this video.
No problem man thanks for listening to me mindlessly ramble for 40 minutes
This is one of the few stories where you *really* want a sequel, but haven’t gotten one. And that’s because the story perfectly sets up a sequel with *multiple* story threads sprinkled throughout the story, but the author just hasn’t gotten around to making that sequel yet(if he actually plans to)
Yeah I'm really interested to see where he takes the story in the sequel because everything generally pretty wrapped up in the ending
Everyone is horny at times, some more than others, but there isn't anyone in the show who doesn't display at least some level of sexual drive.. I love this anime for actually showing that.
You are mentally ill
Needed someone that talked about the whole series desperately, excellent video
And I desperately needed to talk about the series so we both got something from this :)
Bro this video was just filled with facts, its like I myself made a video about my experience with all of MT
Damn this video is so relatad to me. I'm gonna rewatch it every time I remember about the novel.
Thank you for putting into words why this is the best piece of media I have ever consumed. I now know how to express my absolute obsession with this story. You are doing God's work.
I started to read the light novel when episode 8 was aired. Goddamn Orsted magic man.
This is a nice breathe of fresh sitting at the table with the real cool kids remembering the absolute amazing story MT is xD
man the feeling you get after finishing mushoku tensei is something. I felt surreal for a whole week after finishing it
I could smell the sea during the baddygodarmor fight.
Great video dude
Ratatouille indeed
Also, 36:45
Certified ratatouille moment
Oldeus part really hurt me emotionally, my heart wouldn't slow down while going through it 😭
Eh gotta disagree about Eris being best though, more of Sylphie fan. I really actually liked Sara allot too, I'd like to see some alt story where they work out ☺️
Just finished the whole vid, awesome video! Really entertaining, I crave me some Mushoku content 🔥🍻
The only anime that makes me binge reading the novel, Both light novels and web novels. Once, the Sequel comes out, I will reread it on Shousetsukaninare.
I finished Mushoku Tensei yesterday and I cannot wait for the anime to catch up and to see what's next
This next arc in particular is really good. It sets up a lot of the stuff that's important to the overall story later
i love the choice of music
Thanks, I put a lot of thought into it so I'm glad someone noticed
went back to this after Turning Point 3 happened.
ah yes
*Dori me-
Interimo, adapare
Dori me*
Mushoku Tensei was my first ever light novel and I still regard it as my no.1
lets go there is 26 volumes! nah this makes me happy asf considering currently I am a anime only
Watched this video like 10 times
Cuz your video relate to me the most with my experience with finishing this series 😂
I get how you feel about no one you know around you having finished it. I literally cannot talk about any post anime content with people because they all havent read it. Reading from the comments alot of people binged this story huh? same. Honestly a masterpiece 11/10 would wipe my mind to read again
1:03 is way to true,
I felt pretty much the exact same way about moshoku tensai, I'm more into writing/directing in shows and don't watch a lot of anime but moshoku tensai does a surprisingly lot right
Yeah, it sucks that a lot of Isekai since took everything that Mushoku did right, but then watered it down and made it awful
I did in fact lose my mind when you mentioned sakurasou no pet na kanojo lol, one of my favourite anime oat
Yeah same. Glued to my screen and read everything. So damn good
Bro, this video is soo underrated
Thanks man, I appreciate you watching
Agreed my friend, I’ve only watched the anime so far but once season 2 is out I’m hoping to read or at least buy the LN to have it and show my love for the show
I can't wait for season 2. The next arc is my favorite in the whole series
@@ineedwafflestabernacle Your words make me even more excited hell yea
F@k U 4 putting the Monogatari ED under the Paul part. Almost made me shad a tear there...
btw I❤MT
Holy fuck the meme at the end fucking sends me. At least she got SOMEONE by the end.
That's amazing to hear, it's honestly such an inspiring story and everyone could benefit from reading it
Amazing video, I'm trying so hard NOT to watch the whole video right now since I have not read the LN (not because I don't want to but because I want to save it for after I finished the already fully-adapted anime, it will be the first ever LN I'll ever read).
He became what he meant to destriy
ay bro this was hella beautiful
Thanks man I really appreciate it
Yea, I agree I hate that trope of if I work hard I can overcome anybody thats stronger & gifted than me that may be true in some cases BUT that only happens if someone is talented & fails to train also , no matter how much a person trains in real life they will never be as fast as usain bolt UNLESS their genetics align to it...
Like as an example yeah I can play piano or something and practice really hard everyday but there's still gonna be people out there who've been doing it before I was even born, or people who have a much higher affinity for it than I do and can do something that takes me 6 hours in less than 10 minutes.
cant believe i watched all 40 minutes and 40 seconds of this video.
Neither can I
i watched this a few weeks ago, nearly watched the spoiler section, but you basically forced me to read all of it, and damn the light novels were so damn good and im so upset that im already done with them
No way that's awesome.
Yeah I'm a bit of a fucking 🤓 if you couldn't tell. You've got good taste too, TES and MT fuckin slap
Bro finally ty! Not enough people realize that Pax was Rudeus's foil.
It sucks too because the beach reveal at the end of season 3 is literally one of my favorite plot twists ever, but after that the series just slowly kept going more and more downhill
yesssss i'm so glad my friend get me to read MT back in 2015, my experience is basically the same, it took over my life, it's the only thing i do day in day out, turning point 4 left me a broken mess, and the post nut clarity when finishing it was incomparable to anything i've felt from other stories
welcome to the cool kids gang
btw, have you seen the fanmade AMVs for turning point 3 and 4? those were intense
Turning point 4 hit like a fucking truck, and I haven't seen them but I'd love to watch them if you sent them
Idk if youtube allows me to post links, but i'm talking about the AMVs from the channel "02 okusawa"
4:29 i like The Pet Girl of Sakurasou
about Vol. 19
Besides some of the stuff others have mentioned about Orsted's arc, I was also of your opinion as I was reading it, especially given the Death God fight was just kind of there, but the chapter of Rudeus consoling Roxy about her failures is one of my favourites as it shows Rudeus finally and definitively helping Roxy in the way she has helped him in vol 1 and 12
After i watched the anime i binged the whole LN.

@@aimforthehead90 Then you finally realize that everyone has a different opinion
seriously this happens (no meme, 100% real)
@@aimforthehead90it’s not played for comedic effect tho. When Rudy assaults Eris while she’s a sleep, the goofy atmosphere behind it is to illustrate how lightly Rudy takes the whole thing. The next time he tries getting physically intimate with Eris, he is rejected and he feels genuinely distraught and remorseful about the whole thing. In fact, he doesn’t pull any shit like that ever again.
You dropped the show like an episode away from the episode where Rudy rights those wrongs you couldn’t stomach. Your loss I guess.
if you like mushoku tensei and want more like it i recommend "the mother of all learning" web novel and "when a mage revolts" web novel
i fucking watched pet girl of sakura hall and it was pretty damn good
Seriously that show is so underrated
Wow, pet girl of sakura hall, it's been so long since someone last mention it. It's such a good show!
If you liked it then I'd definitely also suggest watching Kokoro Connect, it's another less talked about character driven anime
Oh, i also happened to have finished that also a long time ago. Wanted more, but too bad there was controversy.
@@ineedwafflestabernacle honestly those two was the first few anime i watched and broke me emotionally
There was this show called, in search of the lost future, i thought it was okay, you might enjoy it!
And Remake our life. Both have supernatural elements though the first was made by someone who was experienced making 'sexual art'
Okey gotta save this video for when I finish the novel see ya in about a year or two
I better see you back here or I will personally find you
I really can relate to all that you talked about in this video but unfortunately for me It`s not the best there is though I anyway the same way as you read the whole thing in about 2-2.5 weeks sleep read sleep kinda thing.
It's nice to see there's other people who did the same thing as me and I'm not crazy. And yeah I'll add it to my list
Prez is indeed best girl and finally after an endless amount of loops in this one he had a friend for the first time. BTW if you haven't you should read old dragon's tale, I really hope in the sequel Laplace and the girl he lived with (if you know you know) both regain their memories.
Old Dragons tale was so good, I can't believe that after the entirety of all the crazy shit in mushoku tensei there's still plans for a sequel
@@Drakno2 that'd be so good. They showed his POV in redundancy and it was so much more wholesome than I could've imagined
I will be back after I’ve finished the light novels
I wish I was in your shoes and I could read them for the first time again. Oh and also season 2 comes out this July, so there's something to be excited about
I really enoyed the way Death God fought. Even when saying that he is done and dont want to harm any1 u cant trust him and must beware all the time. The tension was always high with him in volume 19.
100% agree with your takes on mushoku tensei and now i can't wait for the anime to continue and to see everything bought to life with animation
on a side note have you read ascendance of a bookworm as i think you would truly enjoy that as well since its a fantasy slice of life isekai with flashes of interesting action scenes which are surprisingly grounded the anime is a pretty good adaptions currently up to part 2 volume 4 (7th instalment) currently the english translation is up to part 5 volume 1 (22nd instalment) but some of my favourite stories are the short story collections as they you different looks at the world from all sorts of different people really fleshing out the world building
the story has 5 parts total which look at different moments in the main characters life
on the point of progress and putting in the work: given the overall story its kind of a central point but not as depressing overall since you read it you know what beast Eris actually becomes through training and dedication
Bro Eris later on is an absolute badass. Legitimately one of my favorite female characters
This comment makes me feel so seen. I stared at a wall for like half an hour after finishing it before I got used to being in my own body again
@@ineedwafflestabernacle I thought I was the only one until I did some digging and found your video thank you man
