I’ve only played oblivion, skyrim never ever worked on my Xbox’s.I just don’t wanna be disappointed when I do play skyrim

I'll never stop loving Morrowind discourse, every few years after Oblivion came out it keeps cropping up in one form or another and always seems to be either "You like it because you have Stockholm Syndrome" or "You don't like it because you're addicted to instant gratification" with neither side being that wrong lmao

with how fast i saw those black horse couriers ride their horses in oblivion its pretty lore acurate that the people of bruma know what you did in leyawiin before you even get there. Also chameleon was absolutely broken lmao especially for thieves guild and db questline i remember making a 100% chameleon spell and being completely undetected when sneaking and just sneak attacking everything and robbing people's houses infront of their eyes just absolutely beautiful

Bro I tried playing this game the other day and gave up...but I WANT to get into it because of what you mentioned regarding the super unique aesthetic of the world and creatures...like you said it seemed unlike anything else!

As a long time fan of the elder scrolls Skyrim was epicly disappointing. So shallow and not even that wide of a game. Like oblivion was fairly shallow but not as bad as Skyrim and was actually wide. Also coming from Morrowind to oblivion there was some things left out that were disappointing like spears, or being able to really customize your armor with different shoulder pieces or gloves. Like they watered it down a little bit in oblivion but improved on so much that it was fine but then Skyrim came and they improved on nothing other than graphics and yes I think the leveling system in Skyrim is worse than oblivion and Morrowind. It just makes sense that you aren't good at everything and have some innate talents. They've also gradually watered down the racial bonuses to where in Skyrim it really doesn't matter what race you play as you can still be whatever you want. Try being a nord make in Morrowind or oblivion. Or try being a two handed heavy armor fighter high elf. I great TES6 will be even worse. The only thing that keeps coming back is the epic setting that in my opinion is second to none. Nirn's history and lore and so good that it's worth coming back

Oblivion was very mid. Generic fantasy elf ayleyd ruins were boooring, unlike cool steampunk Dwemer ruins in Morrowind and Skyrim Dungeon-crawling was almost nonexistant, most caves and ruins were very small and boring. Autoleveling wass off the charts. By the endgame every bandit was running around in full daedric armor, lol. AND it introduced the worst DLC of all time - the infamous Horse Armor, that paved the way to p2w in singleplayer games.

Zoomers overrated Skyrim. Its the 2nd best. Oblivion 1 and morrowind 3. Oblivion didnt need dragons to be fucken epic. I was so freaking powerful in that game. Im sure us vets all were. Lived the guilds and shivering isles and knights of the nine were on par with the vanilla game.

Oblivion was too difficult to grasp when i was a kid. I saw a cool knight on the cover, started playing, glitched the arena fights, closed an oblivion gate, and died in kvatch over and over. Still havent completed the game once yet since its been so long

Oblivion is better than Skyrim, but the Morrowind shade is straight up misinformed. Is it good? Not particularly, but to call it the "suggestion of dealing damage" is a self-snitch of not understanding how it works.

lol, it came with an instruction manual that explained a lot of things that you complain aren't explained. like, the description of the Recall spell from the School of Mysticism column on page 34 is: "Instantly transports the caster to the last Recall marker set by the Mark spell." you were expected to read those. also, there's a bit of your character UI you can hover over the Fighters Guild or whatever to see what they require.

So leveling up can be summed up with this meme: "Ain't nobody got time for dat!"

I have played both and love both. This makes it sound like scaling in Skyrim takes forever this is not true if you just play the game the way you see fit you will scale the way you play. If you wanna rush a game, Skyrim sucks, but if you wanna play it immersively. Skyrim is great.

People who say Oblivions combat is better than Morrowind immediately have their opinion invalidated. Morrowind is just based on stats + fatigue. It’s not a ruin combat, it’s all about your stats. Oblivion (and Skyrim) are quasi action that’s based on stats. Oblivions only redeeming grace wrt its spongey repetitive combat is its hilarious rag doll physics

I clicked on this video because I agreed with the title, and then bro proceeded to list the most brain rotted and and purely subjective pros and cons list and compared a massive open world filled with NPCs you can actually interact with, dozens of spell combinations and active effects, multiple play styles that do more than just change what weapons or magic you use, and a leveling system faithful to old school RPGs, to dark souls and The Witcher, or even purely linear games like uncharted 💀 the witcher has like 5 spells, a lazy ass perk system, and reskins of the same sword or hand axe over and over again. Like no shit those games have more detail when they also have like only 30% as much content, character building, and freedom as Oblivion does. 2 of them are glorified hallways and the other is an basically just a handful of towns/villages/cities connected by a bunch of small roads that you hardly ever step off of. The Witcher is a masterpiece in story telling that makes Bethesda games sound like they were written for a middle school essay, but the world in between settlements is basically just a very good looking empty wasteland, and even then the art design has no personality or originality to it, this is a magic world and the environment just looks like medieval Europe, if Kingdom Come had the exact same graphics as the Withcer 3, and then you showed me screenshots from both, I'd be unable to tell you which world I was looking at, because the world has no personality that separates it from real life whereas so many locations in Oblivion (and moreso skyrim, despite it being streamlined and therefore inferior in every other way) look like they're taken straight from the mind of Tolkien. You can barely walk 5 minutes in oblivion without coming across a random encounter or witnessing someone act out their daily schedule meticulously programmed into each NPC on the road between villages, meanwhile I'm struggling to remember a single random event in The Witcher that wasn't a marked quest or posted on the bulletin board Also talk to me about the replayability of a sandbox rpg vs a narrative one. I've played Oblivion probably over 5 times from beginning to end, I can't even sit through the intro to The Witcher 3 a second time because it's almost a movie in videogame form, just like I would never play through RDR2 a second time. Open world games that are basically on rails except for a few moral choices just aren't as fun to experience multiple times as a sandbox rpg where doing the main quest is almost considered optional

You got everything correct except the music. The ambient music is leagues above Skyrim’s. I will agree that the combat music is much better in Skyrim though. Way more epic. Doesn’t make me think of a random mud crab 😂

I thought the armor and weapon design in oblivion was better than Skyrim. There aren't many armor sets in Skyrim that I like all that much and I thought the dark brotherhood set looked really ugly compared to how good it looked in oblivion

I'm pretty sure Weapon Enchantments and Poisons were OP too in Oblivion, you could stack very small damage instances and 100% weakness to magic and it stacked every time you hit, and potions that regen every bar at the same time while making you invisible.

Oblivion is god tier. Shivering isles is god tier. I've always liked the story and expansion of oblivion better than anything skyrim had. Skyrim is still a phenomenal game. I think when skyblivion comes out, the new kids will realize just how incredible a game oblivion is.

Get an Oblivion Experience mod, then Oblivion is tolerable to play.

Basically though just wear womens clothes and ur issue is solved, just avoid ones with skirts if you want to avoid looking too fem. You can even make heels look masc and kinda goth with the right outfit. You can even wear women's one piece swimsuits with the unique shapes in them and it would look good on you. Which is a different vibe from a guy wearing a bikini, it will still look natural on you without feeling like you are cosplaying a woman

Clothing option life hack: Just use clothes from the women's section that has the most gender neutral shape, problem solved Or dress like an edwardian era vampiric aristocrat, either one.
