Right on. I have more Owens action on my river fishing playlist if you haven't seen it and are interested. Tons of river fishing action on there. I fish the Owens a few times for my Patreon as well. Got a brown well over 20" a couple of weeks ago fishing for my Patreon. It will be on my next highlight clip.
Man, just missed you. My friend and I were there last week. Also fished Upper Twin Lake using a jig you recommened on a previous video. Both of us caught three rainbows in about 30 minutes included a three pounder - my personal best. Been learning a lot watching your videos. Thanks.
Right on. Sounds like you got a solid fish in the net. I'm stoked I was able to help you improve your catch. That's what it's all about. Keep on fishing.
This trip turned into quite a success. I wasn't sure what to expect in the Lower Owens and when I first hit the Upper Owens for Patreon the fishing was anything but hot. It all worked out in the end.
I have stayed at Brown's campground a few times. I really like it there. I have caught quite a few fish in that area. I know the campground closes Oct 1 and opens in April. The weather looks nice there.
I never went into that stretch of river in the campground but now that it's closed there is a lot of water to fish. The weather is decent during the day but the lows are getting down there. I think I read it was a low of 9 degrees today but it's going to settle in with lows in the 20's after this weekend. Still cold!
That sounds like a battle worthy opponent! I will get back there! I am trying to squeeze in a lot of farther stuff before the snow comes. I fish the Truckee a lot when I don't want to drive far because of snowy road conditions. I'll pass on an icy, snow covered, two lane 395 with big rigs there to slide out of control and crush me! That's when I hit the Truckee.
Awesome stuff as always, you got a few nice ones, too bad you lost those other ones, but that is why you keep on going, love the content, need to catch up now👍
Right on. I lose a lot of fish using barbless jigs but I get enough in the net to keep me happy. As you said, for every nice fish I lose you can bet I'll be back to try to get some sort of satisfaction.
Many years ago I caught some very nice browns in that exact spot at about this time of year. Think I used a woolly bugger. It’s a good easy access spot in winter. Nobody there that time of year.
Yeah, it was completely deserted. There were a bunch of people fishing on the upstream side of the bridge as usual. I still need to fish the main fork to the right once you enter near the bridge. I went left and spent to much of my limited time fishing the smaller section that runs closer to the campground.
What do you do for work? 12 hr shifts? Do you have a m-Friday schedule or does it change from week to week? Love the video content and can’t wait to get over that way but it will be the spring/summer or whenever the Sonora pass opens?
I work Thursday through Saturday but I have to work every other Wednesday as well. It's a nightmare but I have to have a job where I don't need to be reached when I'm not working because I'm often unreachable in the mountains when I am making content. A sales job like I used to have. where I make way more money with far less work would be nice but I couldn't continue to build my channel. My college degree and work experience in jobs where I can make much easier money just won't work with what I am doing now. I am either working or making content. I won't be able to keep this up forever but I'm giving it all I got to get to a point where I can hopefully scrape by between Patreon subscriptions and You Tube ad revenue. We'll see where I am at the end of next Spring. If I can get to that point I can then go a little farther and spend more time creating content where I'm not cramming everything in a week into 36 hours. When I get home from whatever 4-10 hours of driving I usually have 8-12 hours of editing and posting to do. I've been bleeding money since I started this 4 years ago but I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet.
I didn't have either on this day and I did just fine. The key is getting there. You can make do with what you have as long as it's within the regulations. Page 55 in the regulation guide is where the special regulation chart is if you haven't seen it and are interested.
If you go back through my river fishing playlist, you'll find the clip from the first time I fished the Owens. I didn't know where to go so I parked off a dirt road in the early morning twilight and just set out across a random field trying to find the river. Long story short, It isn't long into that video where I am running from a heard of cattle that began to run straight at me. It was no fun!
I was catching fish just fine here and had a few nice ones follow my jig right up to me. I have clips fishing upstream and downstream from there "Dude" and I seem to do fine in all of it.
hogwash!!! More missed fish story! LOL enjoyed your video

Damn its gorgeous over there in the Owens Valley
I love the tall mountains on both sides. That campground is super easy to move around the river when it's closed.

Nice Rainbows and, as always, excellent content! Thanks Amani

You should get back on the Truckee. I landed a 22in Brown the other day 😁

We caught some big rainbows at browns!

If you want to go on a troll or interview the guy that caught the 22 lb 10 oz. Brown on the upper twin, he said he was open to it.
Right on. A 22lb 10oz brown would be something to see on my 5' ultralight rod!
Are you going out for the trout opener this weekend??
I think I'm going to wait another week. I still might head down there next week though. I have no idea. I just know I'll be fishing somewhere!

@@wildernesswithamani1027 that’s a strange schedule? But actually not bad being you have 4 days off every other week.
Gotta get some waders and a fly rod. Man i wanna fish the owens haven’t made it up there this year.

Further north, there are cows roaming around. Just saying.
