This is one of the main reasons i got a apollo few years back to run vocal chains in real time and over the years I have got more in more of their plugins. I even do live shows running wireless mics thu it.
UAD EQP-1A along with the Fab Filter Pro-Q3 are my favorite EQs.
Sweetest sound.
Great for anything and everything.
im going to try that combo. I like the fab filter stuff
Hey man, what’s up. Just got to say you have to be the first OG I have seen with a suit on TH-cam. Well done sir.
😂😂😂coming from an OG also, this is facts !
Great tutorial Fedarro 👍🏿 I’ve been a fan of your beats & hooks for a while now.
thank you for the love
Man thank you this helps add to my knowledge on this. Subbed and liked
I have bought an Apollo only USB heritage and it is super compatible, it works very well, it is easy to install, configure and use.
This is a major key fam thank you!!! It hits thank you. Time saver
that raspy voice is hittin ! sounds good bro 100
This video showed up on my home page. So glad I watched it, I have an apollo and a AKG C214. I don't have Pro-Tools but I will try it out on Logic Pro X. Just subbed and left a like!
i don't have an Apollo. do you have to upgrade to get access to the console?
One of the best videos that I saw and learned from 👌👍
Just brilliant. Thanks !
Straight facts bro, I’ve had the Apollo twin for years and never used the emulations but I’m on it now 💪🏾💯 💎
Wait.... Then why'd you buy it if not for the main reason people buy them lol
@@thesoundmajors9858 because I send all my records to my engineer but now I’m ready to just do everything myself
Man could have gone with an audient mk2 or SSL2 just as well 😂 @@thesoundmajors9858
@@thesoundmajors9858cause even without the emu it sounds really good
Thanks man. Nice work.
Bro you like that with the melodies… 🔥
Wonderful all around including your voice
You have sold me on a Universal Duo - wow.
Needed this breakdown
Thank you fine sir. Your generous efforts are much appreciated. 🤝
you are welcome.
Great video thanks for sharing
Thank you bro, appreciate you.
Nice job bro 👊🏽
Have you added a delay to the vocal chain too? When you start recording there’s a nice vibe to the vocals which is not from the plugins shown in the video
Thanks brother ✊🏾
My patna Blizz had some music with you . Definitely remember that name
Do you have your uad track console unmuted because you’re doing a tutorial? And do you mute it back before you record in protools because I see everyone mute theirs I mute mineswhen I record. Just curious @fedarro
how did you set and mix your delay and reverb ? sounds great!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Every time I record like this with the autotune on it shifts my recording out of time. IDC off on Apollo, delay compensation on in pro tools. Printing through the Neve and Tubetech in console... Any insight?
how i would love to see a LUNA UAD template from Fedarro would be out of this world
Im going to make one
How does you manage to have such little room noise you’re room doesn’t seem to be treated that well maybe im wrong though
he has a noise gate on his vocal chain
Hi Fedarro,
Very interesting video! A lot of good stuff to take with into the recording process 👌🏼🔥
Also wanted to ask, do your Templates will be also available for Logic Pro X? I really would like to purchase it for my DAW 🙏🏼
Nice!🔥🔥🔥
Why does my microphone sound muffled on the Apollo console?, help
damn that sound amazing big dawg #salute
thank you family
bro doing a vocal review without a pop filter and having your air "P"reassue spitting in my ears is just UNPROFFESIONAL. the cloths look nice, but i couldnt care less how you look in a sound tutorial, Take this note. GL and thnaks for the video.
How do you use the two mic Chanel’s sometime
Fedarro question thank you for the tutorial. By the way now I see you're a eQP1a in Console, but are the settings the same in the record track in the DAW or do you have that bypassed?
Those settings are a tad bit different in my DAW
Are you using the Apollo Twin X?
Thanks for the information, maybe I got too many plugins over the years, fewer would have been enough. By the way your room looks pretty decent...👍
KHz keep popping up on my input 1 how do I remove it?anyone
Nice voice! How can you record hearing your effect at the same time? I know that i can put effects like reverb and delays on the console aux tracks (Which are not recorded), but you seem to have these effects directly on your Protools right? I use Logic by the way...
Just my 2cent big homie. You can record with these efx “on” as he explained but in the best case long run, use the these efx while recording but only monitoring to get the vibe while cutting thing the vocal and then add the efx afterwards when you mix to make sure they are sitting well based on the track and overall mix in general. Some songs may call for a send of delays or reverb but other songs may need less. Good to have a choice And freedom to adjust when you do your final mix.
Curious as to why you're not taking full advantage of the unison slot on the console! It's left empty during your tracking?
i dont really like the sound of the preamps and channel strips there.
thx!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's some powerful info. Thanks! What about templates for Logic Pro?
i just developed this template for logic pro x
NICE CONTENT . I HAVE A QUESTION WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSION INSIDE THE CONSOLE TO RECORD ARE U STILL USE COMPRESSION IN THE MIX ? IF YES HOW MUCH COMPRESSION ARE YOU USING IN YOUR MIX . THANKS
yes, just a little compression on the from end but do all of your heavier compression in the mix
@@FedarroSings thanks for the reply
Also I got a Neumann hooked up with the apollo great combo.
Whats great about those two together?
@@Top_Dawg360 Any
good quality mic mix with the vocal chain in councel gives great vocals. In my case I have got great results with the neumann tlm 102 and the apollo with uad plugins on the vocal chain here is exsample of my most recent project I produce, record & mixed th-cam.com/video/LpFqFX1DnW0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pACk1t_mRwzOfR4l
which Neumann do you have?
I see, i never used a 102 before. how does it stack up against the 103?
@@FedarroSings I have the 102 witch is the entry level I would think the 103 is a bit better cus it has a high end bump on the eq curve. Now I hard set in few things on my vocal chain and still have to always adjust add to get vocals to sit in the mix good.
Is there a reason why your not using the unison pre-amp part of the console suit?
i like the sound of the preamp from apollo itself. im not crazy about the preamp emulations. they sound great but just not with the mic im using
@@FedarroSings thank you for responding
@@FedarroSings 1084 with that mic is 🤌🏼
why dont use unison preamp ??
cause its not that good
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
precciate that
And why the hell is there so much latency when recording in Reason 12
maybe you have to enable low latency mode or reduce the buffer size
What’s better apollo duo or quad?
Same pres and converters. The quad will allow you to load more plugins when recording since it has more DSP. Especially important if you like to track with a little reverb on the aux channel.
have you use LUNA yet. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Im personally impatiently waiting for LUNA to come out on Windows.
Hella helpful video brother but i know yo ass ain’t comfortable cookin fully suited up 🤣🤣
Kevin Samuel is back
I need the hip hop version… Not the trap rap, but boom bap vocals… Jay Z , Busta , 50 cent vocals
There is no difference. Compression and eq works the same.
Yea yea Yea lol
lol
If i couldn’t use my outboard gear and only could use my Apollo I would not track that wet. I would def use a noise gate>(very light subtractive )eq>compressor (single or parallel)>deesser
Like the bare minimum amount of compression that would just clamp down on any transients.
Then run my FX chain after tracking
you would use a light gate on the fromt end? thats interesting
@@FedarroSings very light subtractive eq?
warning, do NOT get the apollo USB for windows. It has terrible compatibility and will literally not work upon plugin and installation of software, i sat there for 3 hours doing everything to make it work and eventually i just sent it back.
Never had any problems with the usb version you probably had it plugged in a usb 2.0 port which will cause it to be laggy and not open plug-ins you have to plug it in a usb 3.0 port
hm idk then, you're supposed to put it into a superspeed USB port, which i have on my pc and laptop, tried both and the software froze everytime i plugged it in and i couldnt use desktop sound or DAW asio@@drakbeezy
@@onlywoke1 I have an Apollo twin when I plugged mines into a usb 2.0 the console was hella laggy but soon as I switched to the blue 3.0 port it changed automatically and everything started working fine
I never used the apollo on windows. didnt know people were having this experience
thats weird as hell then, maybe my apollo was faulty?@@drakbeezy
Bro ur making adjustments on ur regular voice and then singing thats why the vocal sounds so thin.. you’re saying you like to keep as much of the vocal as possible but ur boosting and attenuating 3db at 60hz????? with a ton of compression???? The emulations are there to help but when you use them wrong its better than not using them at all.
I have recorded some of the biggest artist in the world. you are eventually going to get to that level of compression in the mix. this saves time.
It’s More Than One Way To Do Things Just Because You Don’t See The Vision Don’t Mean He’s Wrong
get a mic popper for your podcast please...
your "P" sound is kind of annoying.. good info though.
Anyone that has heard my mixes and live shows say I have the cleanest vocals ever.
No one says that buddy
@@yule41 Now you just being disrespectful post link to yo shit lets hear what yo mixes sound like.
@@yule41 Its always looser like you people with 5 views literally always being disrespectful.
@@ScantlessBeatz my boi ur putting 2 compressors AND a pultec BAKED into ur vocal recording, no engineer on the planet with a clean mix would do that. You’re not preserving anything in a recording and removing a shit ton of freedom to do things after. Im not being disrespectful, simply stating anyone who does that just doesn’t know how vocals work. Im sure your vocal sounds cleaner immediately because ur essentially baking a preset permanently into a vocal. After thats said and done you’re losing a clean finished MIX battle with anyone who has an ounce of knowledge eq’ing and compressing. The ONLY way you do this is with a physical unit and even then more often then not your not double compressing and using a pultec on the way into the DAW.
@@yule41 Im using 1 compressor and 1 limiter and softly catching the peaks not much at all. Now alot of of it is trail and error finding out what works good and what dont. My vocal takes have a nice amount of Dynamics going into my daw so im not Compressing the crap out of them I know a bit about mixing and mastering and good frined of mine is a master engineer so he will give me advice time to time.
why are you EQing after compression. thats counter-productive.
to control the dynamics first. then to EQ the dynamic you just controlled. its a taste thing
@@FedarroSings you're still boosting when you EQ. this is a dynamic.
dynamic in the vocal performance meaning the loudness. adding the eq after adds color and freq i may not want. we EQ those freq out after compression
@@FromTheHipp
@@FedarroSings yes the vocal performance...but in the signal as well. you're not cutting in this video. you boosted 60 hz and 12k. that changes the signal now. and to tame that signal you need to catch what it does with a comp. and in a mix, boosting 60 on your vocal is def gonna interfere with the low end of the other frequencies from kick bass(and maybe pianos if they are played on the lower timbre). i think you should rework some of this my guy.
there is literally nothing wrong with eq after compression. I do it all the time. not always, but often. there's not one set way to do things, you get different sounds out of different techniques...@@FromTheHipp
Love my Apollo! Deffo allows mixing a lot easier! 🤌🏼. that freestyle low key slapped to 😂. Great video. Subbed 👊🏼
Thanks for the sub!
