Just put a new battery in my Timex with this video. A little drawn out time wise but VERY clear and accurate,,, Thanks!! Be aware you need about half your body weight, and a VERY hard surface to put the back plate back on, Put a wash rag on the countertop of your kitchen, to protect the crystal (glass) ojn the front of the watch. Set the back in place, and push HARD.

Update: after giving it CPR with all my weight, I just don't think it's coming on. I don't want to bring it to a watch servicing place because they'll charge me half as much as the watch to complete a service I did, so I'll continue my stubbornness

HI mate you just saved me 70 dollars . Easy to open and easy to replace. Only worry was loosing the screw for the battery holder but just take your time .Its my every day watch and I love it and now I can repalce the battery even better. Did not need any special tools other than a small pliers and screw dirver which I already had Regards

Two pins fell out of mine,
I was like I wonder what those were for lol,
I finally got that latch open after some abuse before I knew what I was doing,
Eventually I checked the up and down dial and nothing worked,
Turns out those little dials were to help those buttons depress,
thankfully I kept those two pins and realized they were for the buttons,
so I had to insert that to the plastic bit,
Now I have a full function watch that finally glows again!
      Awesome

Use a screw driver to pop off the back cover. Use a tiny screw driver to remove the battery holder. Replace the $1 battery, replace the battery holder, buy a $500 machine to replace the back cover. All good! I came here to see how to remove the batter holder and it was helpful. But dang, can't get the back plate on with my hands.

Appreciated. I also was noticed that the crown doesn’t clearly stops in its positions. So I pulled it out then couldn’t put it back it even when pushing with a pin the same way I removed it. What o found out online that you need to press or pull on those couple little metal tabs or wings that are close to the crown side. When I did that I was able to push the stem back in.
Also, I think my watch is damaged because the pushers don’t do anything. I keep pushing on both of the en and nothing moves inside the dial.

The back cover should be fine to put back because I bought some tools but I didn’t try it yet, I left everything open.
I put a new battery but I think I have some other issues with this watch. Possibly damaged, but hope not. The little little hand in the bottom small dial is running. But, when I pull the crown I don’t feel it stops at the two positons like other watches, I feel the farthest pull but not the middle position.
Also, the upper and lower pushers don’t do nothing at all, I don’t see any hands moving.
Regardless, I think I messed it up more now. I was playing with all that and pulled the movement out whiteout noticing that there were some loose tiny metal barrel housed in the white plastic. Now there is only one barrel left, not sure if the other fell or it wasn’t there from the beginning. I don’t know what’s the proper naming of those little barrels, maybe extension pins? They are an extension from the pushers to the movement.
While doing all that, the big hand fell off and now I have to figure out how to put it back! And also I’m having trouble putting back the white plastic piece back on the movement in the housing. I think there are little springy tabs on the movement that prevent that. So now more issues than what I started with. Lots of fun :) I have ordered some tools online on AliExpress. I’ll wait a bit before going at it. It’s a nice looking watch with the metal strap, don’t want to throw it away.
      On a side note:
To remove the crown/stem I used a pin to push on a hole on the movement, there is an indication on the surface of the movement that tells you where to do that. But to put the stem back in wasn’t as easy as pushing it back in, what I found out online is that you need to press or pull on those couple little metal tabs or wings that are close to the crown side. When I did that I was able to push the stem back in.
      Edit:
Do you know what’s the name of those little pin/barrel extensions for the pushers? So I can check their price and availability online.
I took approximate measurements with my caliper. I can’t put pictures here but the shape is like 2 cylinders joined together, one bigger than the other in diameter and length.
      Total length is 4.78mm
      Widest diameter is 1.86mm
      Smallest diameter is 0.98mm

Thank you for the video. You use a commercial grade looking press to close the caseback. Would cheap $20 presses off Amazon close such stubborn casebacks? I tried to close mine with every heavy object in the house, putting under desks and my own weight, and it would not close. If I go to a watchmaker to put back casebacks that defeats all point of changing the battery at home.

My A and B buttons don’t seem to function correctly now .. afraid I damaged the way the movement interacts with the little pins that seem to extend the reach of the buttons. A works a little, B not at all. I assume they were working before. Anything I can try. Not 100% sure the pins are oriented correctly.

you should have been able to pop the back of the case on with just your hands… How many people watching have a watch pressing tool?… That's my point. No worry folks you should be able to press on the back quite easily just using your hand… Worst-case you might have to press with your thumbs and fingers quite hard but it should go back on. Nobody has a press
