She pronounces english just fine until she thinks about it. Whenever she tries to pronounce a word that she's not sure of, she always thinks of it from the japanese perspective, trying to sound it out via japanese phonetics, which doesn't work too well for english words, but if she can just remember the english word (which she knows cuz she's basically fluent), then she will pronounce it fine without effort
I think you’re right. I think if she tried to pronounce things while actively trying to use an American accent, it would come out no problem. It kinda seems like she does that sort of subconsciously already
@@Ragnell123 Yea, her natural thought process is japanese, I think she learned to speak english intuitively because of her dad and college, but learning to read english very much as a second language that doesnt come naturally to her.
Seems spot on - the first clip of her I watched, I didn’t even realize english wasn’t her first language until the first time she read/pronounced a proper name and the japanese phoenetics were instantly obvious.
@@Vrynn10 Yea, when I first heard of her I was like "Does this person actually know japanese or is she just a weeb who has learned a few Japanese words from anime and is dropping them in random places because she weebs too hard?"
i wouldn't say shes fluent but she's pretty close. there's still some grammatical things she doesn't understand about english. things that a fluent speaker wouldn't struggle with as much
Henya is too precious for words. This, all this is why I was almost delirious with joy to hear she was "back". I seriously cannot think of anyone more wholesome and delightful to listen to. I think if there was a kettle and doggo collab my heart would explode. In fact I there has been and I think it did.
henya spending 5min trying to pronounce organization to tell a story "wait what was I talking about?" my sides left orbit. The kettle never disappoints.
Her determination when trying to pronounce English words always puts a smile to my face. As someone who is trying to learn Japanese, I can totally get Henya's struggle.
When she said redemption right, I got happy like a proud father even though I never went to her streams but there's just something so happy about seeing and hearing that.
"mid 16th century: from French parallèle, via Latin from Greek parallēlos, from para- ‘alongside’ + allēlos ‘one another’." Don't feel bad. It's a stolen word that we didn't localize very well. 😁
It's so interesting with parallel. You can hear her try to sound out the word, but her Japanese is taking over and she breaks it down pa-ra-le-lu which becomes a tongue twister. If I had to teach someone to pronounce it in English I would break it down to p-ar-all-el with the consonants at the ends of the sounds as opposed the the vowels like they do with Japanese letters/sounds. It's so interesting, and adorable
Ya know... Whenever I see a topic highlighting the struggles of English, I'm reminded of that one episode of Red vs. Blue when Tucker is explaining to Church how he's teaching Alien the fundamentals of English... or as Tucker called it "English 101: Remedial Kickass". Lol... Am I right? English is Kickass... "It aren't that hard!" 😆🤓😎👍
I have noticed that occasionally she will stumble across a comment and just kind of panic for a moment, until she remembers she is in a different company now, and they can get away with saying things like that.
I'd say it's another form of the noun expression "jerkoff", which in turn is just a way of calling someone an asshole or otherwise showing you have disdain for them.
I have the same difficulty with Japanese sometimes. Quite often I get the order of vowels wrong and can't remember. Still can't remember all Hirigana, so can only read a tiny bit.
Honestly I feel this from the other side of the fence. I'm English first language and have been learning Japanese for a little over a year. It's tough sometimes (all the time).
Y'know, she actually exemplifies a really important part of language learning - don't move on until you get it right. She listens to her chat to know if she's pronouncing something properly and just goes for it until she gets it. A lot of language learners don't do this and it really hampers their learning.
She tries so hard, I can't fault her for mispronouncing so many words. She's come a long way since she first appeared. I respect the effort she puts in, can't be easy learning a second language. 👍
The English is hard section isn't so much Engrish as it is the structuring and format of English sentences. As someone who speaks a couple different languages, I can appreciate this.

so would hers
"Para... ...whah..? Paparereraro... parapero... pareraraguramu?!?"
@@hazukichanx408"Rubbish... ...whah..? Underfloor... underfloor... underfloor... underfloor?!?"
Henya learning how to properly pronounce English from chat, while chat learns bits of Japanese from her is the most wholesome interaction ever.
Without exaggeration, this is sweet music to my ears. I will never get tired of Henya's Engrish
She is in that perfect spot where she knows but dont know
she knows but cant.. but can.. but cant
@@Shihir0 she can(t)
Henya: ORGAZ

She collabled ag- for the first time with Ina *cough* a bit ago.
Could happen. It's not like she's blacklisted.
KETTLE IS ETERNAL
henya spending 5min trying to pronounce organization to tell a story
"wait what was I talking about?"
my sides left orbit.
The kettle never disappoints.
Also to be fair, as a native English speaker that is one of the harder words to pronounce
REDDO DEDDO REPENPOPON
My go to name for the game now 😂
RERORERORERORERORERORERORERORERO
*Rededenpopon
I love how "Regional" turns Henya into Dio Brando.
She can laugh at my Japanese words anytime. It's only fair.
Her determination when trying to pronounce English words always puts a smile to my face. As someone who is trying to learn Japanese, I can totally get Henya's struggle.
I didn't watch her much before but since she became Henya I now know that I missed out. I'll treasure this kettle.
THANK YOU, we needed this, best compilation of henya's engrish
her English is perfect when she is mad 😂
Yeah like when she is yelling at Zen
“Redded dededed redempopon” sounds like an out of time drum pattern
She goes perapera at 4:48 which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for speaking a foreign language fluently, lol.
It's okay Henya, English is my first (and honestly only) language and I still struggle with it
our kettle is just too cute
I like her pauses followed by "F**k"
I want to hear her say "supercalifragelisticexpialadocious"
Chat sounding it out to help her is so cute.
6:30 absolutely gives vibes of Tomoska trying to say "Thank you so much for watching today!" way back when.
When she said redemption right, I got happy like a proud father even though I never went to her streams but there's just something so happy about seeing and hearing that.
Her language skills are genuinely very fascinating, it feels very much like insight into how our minds process language.
Henya's Engrish is so cute I could keep watching this video and I would never stop being entertained.
Henya is too sweet
reddo deddo repenpopon still my favorite
She tries so hard, and honestly does so well usually, watching her determination and success at it is so wholesome.
As someone who's learning Japanese I can understand this 😂😂
I've spoken english for like 18 years now and to this day I struggle on 'parallel'
"mid 16th century: from French parallèle, via Latin from Greek parallēlos, from para- ‘alongside’ + allēlos ‘one another’."
Don't feel bad. It's a stolen word that we didn't localize very well. 😁

Redo deddo pepepopon, best western open world!
I love how she phrases things too. She'll say some things out of order but it always sounds better.
The amount of times that shes basically right and then actively talks herself out if the correct pronunciation is infuriatingly hilarious.
This is what she meant when she said "Thank goodness I don't speak English" lmao
Ya know... Henya turned into Ashe from Evil Dead 2 for a minute there.
4:11 Ooooohh! ~ Mah Gad/

The superchat to send her a pronunciation... so pure
I love when she finally gets the pronunciations correct.

She reads like I do. "Nenenenenenenenene"
Sometimes she sounds like the "Me when your mo- your mom- me when I'm wit- You when I'm- Your mom when I'm w-" meme.
I like how people spelling it out in chat like its helping

Can't wait to see her try to figure out there, they're, and their..!😂😂😂
best 999 IQ Engrish
The purple penguin jumped over the purple puddle
I often find Englrish funny or even borderline annoying at times, but Henya struggling is too cute.

Henya trying to say Red Dead Redemption is the cutest thing ❤
As someone who speaks English, I tried pronouncing some Japanese words.
It didn't end well... but I'LL FIGURE OUT THIS LANGUAGE AT SOME POINT, DANGIT!

Red Dead Redempadon:

Raitoningu Borutekkusu!
Anything with alot of r's and l's are the bane of a native asian speaking individual
ok but it most cases her pronunciation is fucking perfect. Like "could pass as native until they find a word they dont know" good

We should have her read "The Chaos".
Wanka? Willy Wonka.
Her English is perfect!
