    Wow that is a lot of work. I really like the lights. As always your great videos make it possible for me to do.

    Cruiseman I applaud you. Your skills are impeccable but this is ridiculous. No bike should be this complicated to add accessories. What a nightmare this will be if a part wears out or breaks.. I'm beginning to like the goldwing but this is mind blowing to add simple accessories.

      have you ever seen the procedure for replacing the engine air filter on the prev. gen GL1800? lol

    The planets aligned for me yesterday (April 18th, 2018) and I found a dealer who shopped my trade-in and got me $4k more on the wholesale bid than a dealer I had tried the day before. But wait. There's more. I had gone to this dealer because I was stunned... STUNNED I tell you! .. that the dealer had a USED 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT! A guy had bought it, decided it was to thin for him, and went back to a 2017 Goldwing! Truthfully, I was skeptical of that story, when, later in the day, the previous owner came in and I met him. The story was true. My good fortune. Anyway, the 2018 is a joy to ride.The best motorcycle ride I've ever experienced. I am so stoked I'm up at three in the morning writing this. Can't sleep. Amazingly, the dealer also has, as of this writing, a used non-DCT 2018 white Goldwing Tour, also with about 1200 miles. This is at Dallas Honda on 635 LBJ at Greenville. If you call, ask for Brian and tell him Don Smith sent you. So, I tell all this because I have a suggestion; my new (sorry, USED.. it had 1200 miles on it!) 2018 Goldwing Tour already had a couple of extras the previous owner had put on it like fog lamps, a drivers backrest, a tall windscreen (perfect!), and 'rugs' for the trunk and saddlebags along with an organizer for the trunk. But, on watching this GREAT Cruseman how-to videos and wanting to install other add-ons, I would like to suggest that Cruiseman maybe do a video for new owners like me about consolidating several installs at once. In other words, take off the seat and the mirrors and the screws and the clips one time, install everything you can at once, and be done with it. If you want to use my bike for the video let me know. I live near you in Plano. I'm a professional television news cameraman with a professional news camera. By the way, my new Tour is just like the one Cruiseman rides; white.

      Congrats on the new Tour! When I shot this video, I was actually doing several installs at the same time, that's why the windshield is off the bike in a couple of the scenes (installing XM antenna). I have had a couple of folks ask about such a video, and I think I may have the footage already necessary to put something together. BUT, there may be other opportunities for us to work together on other install projects in the future. Reach out to me on email and we can discuss further. cdikmen@cruisemansgarage.com

    Since you are on lights for 2018 wing, I'd like either the tridium or pathfinder fog lights, but need them to develope a new cowl so they fit. Perhaps you could pass this on to one or both of them. Thanks, love your videos.

    Hey Cruiseman, as others have said, great video! I love my new '19 non-tour and have been drooling over farkling it. My question: I bought Entry Lights that project the Goldwing logo in red (I added logo entry lights to my Infiniti GS coupe and they get lots of praise). These Goldwing entry lights come w/bare wires. Do you think I can use the dummy plugs that come out of the entry lights harness to make working connectors for my entry lights?

    Great videos, I've been a subscriber for many months ,I was very hesitant to buy after all the negative videos, but your videos and a few others we're the tipping point. I took tour dct for hour and half test ride through city traffic and the highway and I didn't want to take it back, the dct did it for me , I want to buy led fog lights and luggage rack with brake light ,do you have any videos on those installs ? is this job doable or get them installed at the dealership before I bring it home, keep up the great rides it's going to be a long winter up here

    just watched 2018 GW review. Thanks, new rider of 1999 GW would like to add headlight modulator, LED bulb replacements all around, and brake like modulator too. Do you have a good source where I could get those items.

    I installed these and it took me less than 30 minutes. I popped the cover open where the lights go and put a towel in the gap to keep it propped open. I heated a pointed long punch, melted a hole through in the identified stock area. Drilled it larger and connected the wire. No need to remove anything.

    As usual, an excellent video but this could be the absolute worst work-to-value ratio of any accessory installation.

    • @cruisemansgarage

      I actually think they are pretty cool. The optional USB cord is the worst work-to-value accessory.

    If you were going to install all of the Honda electrical accessories for the Gold Wing Tour, since most of them require total disassembly of a great portion of the covers and saddlebags, in what order would you install them after disassembling the bike? Thanks.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, but I am not sure it really matters. I installed the XM antenna first, then the LED Entry Lights, followed by the HomeLink, then the optional USB cable.

    • @cruisemansgarage

      When you approach the bike (with the smart key), the lights come on. Also, when you shut off the bike, the lights come on for about 30 seconds.

  • @Ruby_rides_out
    @Ruby_rides_out ปีที่แล้ว

    I fitted these on my Goldwing but rather than take all the top shelter off I removed the middle cowls. From there I could see the 7:13 moulded marks showing the position of the lights. I used a 90degree scriber and pressed the point firmly into the centre of this mark and the dark plastic changed to a light gray where I pressed. Showing me where to drill from the outside of the top shelter.

  • @tjernagel
    @tjernagel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the idea but can't make up my mind if I should add them. I hate to drill holes in new parts and the installation seems to be somewhat of an afterthought. Is it worth it? Just how clean is the installation?

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is actually a very clean install. Just wait until you need to remove the top shelter for some other reason before installing.

      Cruiseman's Garage I have a 2018 Airbag DCT on its way from the Honda Warehouse. Most of the add-one have arrived at the house so I’m just waiting to pick her up.
      I went ahead and ordered this light set today.
      Sure am looking forward to getting it. :-)

    Too much trouble for those unneccessary lights. But well done for showing and thanks... I wanna cover mine in Line-X so I was thinking should I take off all parts and do it or just mask parts and holes I don't wanna fill with coating...

    Cruiseman do the lights come on upon approach without touching anything on the bike? Working form the key fob proximity sensor.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. When you get 4 to 7 feet from the bike, they come on.

  • @p917pilot

    I would imagine you would recommend that someone doing their own installation get EVERYTHING they want on their bike and do this only 1 time, unless you want to be masochistically breaking off tabs on you new bike!

      @@cruisemansgarage I was lucky, I found the broken piece.. I have the entry lights, 12v power in, awaiting for homelink to show up.. now on the 12v power there are 2 screws holding the parking brake on, not one and I would tape that plastic piece with blue tape, I scratched mind up taking out the parking handle! So far I only lost one plastic push pin :)

    Dear god. Honestly that is insane. The amount of disassembly required -- bolts, tabs, rivets, clips etc. all for some led lights? Buy some adhesive stick on lights if you really need them -- which you don't. I also wonder if the disassembly required voids the warranty. I will thank the video producer for making this video. It convinces me to NEVER purchase this latest Goldwing. The complexity of the body parts and moldings is beyond belief. Terrible design. I will stick with my 2001 ST 1100, with its simple body panels and 7.4 gallon gas tank . Honestly this 2018 GW disassembly video was just about the most frightening DIY motorcycle video I've ever seen. What a nightmare.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Installing accessories will not void a warranty. Unless, of course, you break something, then that would not be covered. Disassembly IS daunting, especially the first time you do it. When I made this video, this was my first time, and I was doing it "LIVE" on video. And, I made a few mistakes along the way (thanks to Honda's poor documentation).

    I just got a 2018 GW Tour with DCT. This is a very informative and well done video but never in a million years would I attempt this! Way too much disassembly and fiddling with delicate plastic panels and wiring all for the sake of two lights that, I think, have no purpose. Just sayin'........
