    Max, I'm sure many call your method "caveman" by pulling the side panel without removing that inner liner. I use all your tips including this one. It worked like a charm and I know it saved me an hour or two.

    I've used silicon lubricant for years, but I also have used the Honda Polish. It sure makes it much nicer to work on if those panels are stuck solid.
    Great video, thanks for the tips.

    After watching this video & its companion about a dozen times I felt somewhat confident to try to remove my side cover to install courtesy lights/volt meter. All went as you said w 1 exception. I had much resistance when trying to remove the panel by leaving the inner cover in place. So I removed the 1 inner bolt/2 push pins at the front of the cover. I had enough room to get my hand in and release the push pin & remove it. As soon as I released it I felt the side panel release making the removal much easier. The only other video I saw on this suggested removing the inner panel completely, which was more work. Thank you again.

    I have noted several times your comments about checking the oil level using an additional person so make sure the bike is level. I have removed my center stand and purchased one that works much better. both wheels are on the ground when on the new center stand. In addition, I find it much easier to put the bike on the center stand from the factory and the aftermarket. I typically had a real challenge putting it on the original center stand but no more.

    Just watched this "tips and tricks" and I have another question. At one time I started off on a ride and I wear a heavy riding suit. I forgot and left the small cover open which covers the release for the gas cap cover. At any rate the pant leg caught the small "door" and broke it off. I have tried to figure out what has to be removed to replace the cover. I purchased the parts but have not figured out what needs to come off and how it is attached on the right side of the bike. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Since you do more taking Goldwings apart than anyone I thought you might be a good source.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll have to get the center shelter section off the bike completely, and turn it upside down to work on that glovebox replacement. I don't think I've done a video on that topic yet.

    Max, is there an easier way to get to the parking brake adjusting nut under the left cowl. I’ve watched most of your vid on the 2018/19 Goldwing and I haven’t found one where you pull that cover. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @piercewade1

      Hi Max. My name is Pierce wade and I live in Ireland. I have been following your channel on UT love the work you do. I’m thinking on buying a new GW from the state’s. I bought one in 2001 a yellow one from Hollink Honda in Rochester NY and got a good deal at the time. I like the new ones but looking at all the faults that you seem to be putting right, it makes me think about getting one. I saw the one on the suspension I was disappointed with Honda, and to think that they put an inferior suspension system to a bike costing 30k+ and yet you can sort the problem out. But I think that they are the best bike on the road. Do you sell the bikes or would I have to go to a bike dealership to purchase one and then get you or do the work. Regards pierce

    Thanks for your videos and products. I want to mount a small 1” diameter camera under the headlight. When the front suspension is fully compressed, how close does the fender come to the bottom of the headlight housing? I figure if anyone knows You would. Thanks 😊

    • @Traxxion

      1" is OK as long as the mount is very low profile.

      Also far forward is helpful. You cannot use long screws, as you will penetrate your headlight housing and ruin it. Rivets are ideal.

      @@Traxxion Thanks, I had this problem recently, As you know, this door release is connected to the Can Bus system. I caused my problem, I suspect, in retrospect. I detached the seat and disconnected the heated seat wiring harness to get a WingSoft seat upgrade. Before I got the seat to WingSoft, I had cause to reattach the seat and ride the bike for 50 miles. I did NOT reattach the heated seat wiring harness for this short ride - it generated a wire disconnect icon on the dash. I shut the bike off on my return, took off the seat again and took it with me to Texas for the Wingsoft upgrade. Two weeks later, I installed the seat and reconnected the wiring harness. The bike ran but I couldn't get the fairing door to open. It is, of courae, a security feature and linked to the Can Bus system. Once I shut the bike off, let it sit for a while, the fairing port door would work again. Thus, I infer, the Can Bus was at play.
      This episode raises the larger question, what is a rider to do if this fairing port door fails to work where the rider ends up stranded and unable to fill up with gas? My guess is some would just break in through the tupperware, or call for emergency road service, etc. It would be nice to know if there is a bypass - hence my question here. Sorry for the long winded post.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ttalleur no matter what you did with your seat, it would never affect anything else on the bike. There are several aftermarket saddles that have no heat in the seat and do nothing to stop the flashing light on the dash. Everything will work normally. You must have had a second problem. But if you are worried about this issue, you can drill a hole of any size of your choosing through the fairing pocket door just above the fuel door button. The fuel door is cable operated, and mechanical only. Then just put a rubber or plastic cap in the hole you drilled. When your door latch fails, you can pull the cap off, and poke an object through the hole and open your fuel door.

    Gosh, what a royal pain. Every time I see another one of these new Goldwing videos I'm more convinced that I would never own one. The complexity and time involved is crazy. I fault Honda for Horrific, idiotic design, with such complete disregard for ease of parts removal. I did test drive the 2018 GW last week. I liked the motor, the brakes, and the compliance of the suspension over small bumps. The windscreen, however generated a surprising amount of turbulence, the side bags really are deficient, the passenger seat is too thin. I would rather keep riding my 2001 ST1100, and if I purchased a different bike it would be a 2012-2013 BMW R 1200 RT. The RT bike has excellent luggage, a superb windscreen, large fuel capacity, and it weighs hundreds of pounds less than the Gold Wing. Honda GW motor is much better than the Boxer twin though.
    I think Honda really does have a problem with this machine. My local dealer is already knocking $2000 off the MSRP because the new Wings are not selling well.

    • @ttalleur
      @ttalleur 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My BMW K1200LTC and the K1600 offer the similar challenges. There's only so much a manufacturer can to with such tight design spaces and tolerances, it seems.
