PF formed mid '60s but after just a few years founding member Syd Barrett began suffering Mental Health issues coupled with the effects of drug abuse. Often mid Gig he'd just stop playing or play something completely different mid song!
This is referenced in Brain Damage as well as many other PF tracks.
Close friend David Gilmour was brought along to step in on lead guitar and vocals when Syd couldn't play. Eventually Syd dropped out and the line-up became
Roger Waters (Bass / Vocals / lyrics)
Dave Gilmour (Lead Guitar / Vocals)
    Richard Wright (Keyboards / Vocals)
    Nick Mason (Drums)
Syd was dearly missed by his friends and heavily referenced in the album that followed DSotM - "Wish You Were Here" and many other tracks.
    But
I would suggest taking a look at Pink Floyd - "Echoes" Live at Pompeii
taken from the album "Meddle" that came out just before DSotM
The live at Pompeii is much easier to get into as it's split in two parts. The original album version is the entire side two and has an extended sound effects / sound scape in the middle.
Live at Pompeii not only splits Echoes in two but has some awesome cinematography.
The guys play in Italy in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience!
It's great to see the guys, the kit used and the setting and the DG solo towards the end of part 1 is Funky as!
    (thanks for the shout out!
BTW - I'd tune in to that Radio Station🤣)

Pink Floyd’s album, The Wall, deserves the same full album reaction.

Two reccomendations if you want to hear more Pink Floyd: "Dogs" which is 17 minutes but it's a journey and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V ) There is also a second video which is Parts VI - IX which is equally astoundingly good. Just the studio on these to start. You want to hear the original instead of the Live Version or the Official Video (distracting that one is)

Just a head's up. Yes The Wall is a masterpiece but I've always found it disturbing and maybe not the best place to start with for Pink Floyd. Yes people who react to Pink Floyd do react to Comfortably Numb that is true but there is so much other earlier stuff from this band.
