  • Just a bit of information from me letting you know how the DR8 performs and my recommendations. I have added a bit of bashing at the end but there will be bigger and better to come.

    I have just bought one of these. I like the home made centre brace. I might do the same to mine. I have made a couple of home made centre braces for other cars i have. Cool info dude 👍🏻👍🏻

      How is the buggy holding up? Any replacement parts on it? Would you recommend me buying this or a used losi 1:8 (near the same price)

    There's some great info here , I'm considering the DR8 as my first step into the RC world coming from drone racing and this seems like a great option to dip my toe in. I was looking at Arrma but I don't think my skill level would do them justice at present and this FTX seems very budget friendly and solid in construction , aside from the points you mentioned which can be easily remedied. I'm looking forward to more updates on this in the future. 👍

      Thanks for the support, I cannot recommend the DR8 enough as it is so fast and tough and believe me I have crashed it many times. I might be posting another vid today so watch this space.

      @@uksmalltorque5563 I've just watched the latest vid and pulled the trigger on the DR8 , the aluminium lower brace (as suggested) and a couple of Gens Ace 3s lipos just to get me started. The plan in the not too distant future is to take a camera off one of my drones and install it in the cab for a bit of FPV action. 😁 Now it's just waiting for everything to turn up.

    • @VadersDarkside
      @VadersDarkside 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gonzodetroitify it's been great and still going strong. 3rd time out I had a massive crash as i was going way to fast for the terrain and snapped a rear suspension strut but after replacing the damaged part and adding the uprated lower brace it's been fine ever since 😁 i personally love ripping it up the beach and have had zero issues with salt water or sand getting in anywhere just a hose down at home then blown dry and it's good to go again. The greatest complement I can give it is that I've no desire a year later to get anything else at the moment. 👌

    How did the diff oil change work out?
    Ive been reading that 10k front and centre and 7k rear is a good starting point.
    God knows why they didn't state the diff and shock oil viscosity in the owners manual!!

    Hi mate. Nice video and I've just bought one today...where do you actually put the washer? Directly behind the wheel or on the plastic where the wheel attached too

    • @uksmalltorque5563
      @uksmalltorque5563  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Put it on the back of the body. It’s to stop the screw pulling through the body itself.

    Best way to clean your rc's is to spray them with gt85 then dry it off with a handheld blower(about£18 on ebay) I also give all mine a light spray on the arms/hubs before i run em.

  • @chrisf5475
    @chrisf5475 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just got mine and went straight onto 6S... wow it’s MENTAL! been driving a WLtoys and for it’s size 30mph seems quick enough but I can handle it flat out in the street. The DR8 is far too much and really needs more space.
    I’ve noticed the rear hubs have a bit of slack. Might have to put some O rings / washers in.
    Where would you begin looking at alternative body shells? Just go with anything 1/8 scale and make your own holes for the mounting posts?

    • @uksmalltorque5563
      @uksmalltorque5563  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Big jump from a WLtoys😃. It’s not a track tool so don’t expect really tight tolerance’s but may just need some nipping up but carefull not to go too far. I would just order a 1/8th shell as you say but remember that the skeleton shell is part of the reason it’s so durable.

    Hi , which are the differences between DR8 and the Raptor ? Only the pinion ?

    • @uksmalltorque5563
      @uksmalltorque5563  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as i am aware they are the same car, just the Realy Raptor came with an extra pinion for the higher speeds (14t) but recently TomyRC clocked 57mph with the DR8 in standard form and 0degrees outside.

    where can I purchase an aluminum lower brace. I broke the plastic one on my first run, spent 3 hours making a new one out of 3mm aluminium with just a 5 inch grinder, pair of pliers and a round file and did the trick for a fixup. Now I see you can actually purchase them. Im in Australia so if you know any places I can get one from for a spare would be much appreciated. By the way, love my new toy.

    Have a look at the pillow balls maybe you tightened them too much if you’ve ever done your camber or toe it’ll have them stiff if your made the larger hex too tight 🤔
