- I've been after one of these for sometime! They look awesome, they run 6s... do around 60mph and are super tough! The 1/8 Scale FTX DR8 is certainly not something to dismiss!
Ok, 'Cheap'.... it's Cheap compared to a lot fo the other 6s 1/8 RC's in it's Class, almost half the price of some!

I got one last autumn. Very little info on them. Really impressed with mine. Only managed to break the rear pin holder so far. Replacement is about £3.50 but I got the ali one you mentioned. Took a big high speed cartwheel to break it. I've put thicker diff fluid in and done a tweak to give more steering lock. Great bit of kit and just over half the price of my Maxx. I find radio range lacking for its speed, something I would like to upgrade.
What was the steering tweak that’s the real key to this truck or did u dremel 🤔😉
This information is really good... I don't get to use all my stuff as much as others, so really good to see some feedback from long term ownership.
@@gonzodetroitify I'll try to decribe it. The link from the servo to the saver hits the ali steering plate (FTX9517) . It's the plastic ball end outer hitting. I have put a nut between the servo saver arm (FTX9564) and the ball end. This lifts the plastic ball end outer by around 2-3mm. That is just enough to give you a little more lock without making the link much weaker. I assumed it was a cheap plastic part of the servo saver (FTX 9564) that I would replace if it couldn't handle the extra force. So far (circa 150 mins run time), so good. Hope that helps.

Thanks to this channel a month ago I took a leap of faith an ordered a FTX DR8 from a UK seller I didn't know. Exactly 30 days later, the DR8 arrived here at my door on US soil. I'm a buggy guy, so looked hard at the Losi Lasernut, but kept coming back to the DR8 for it's superior build quality and value. The quality of reviews on this channel are outstanding and lead me to my purchase decision.

Love my DR8, had it since July and haven’t stopped taking out when I can. Great value, super strong and the speed is wow! Cheap on parts why no one is screaming out about these is beyond me. Nice video

we have been running these for a while now and have got 55mph on a icy race so we know there is more to come. these are great cars

One of my favourite RCs. We call it Belter. Tough as can be too - rollcages are so much better than shells. Lights are cool and it has real character. Really cheap parts and I've had no trouble with diffs. Love it
I loved the wheelie @ 14:31 - I´d very much like to see an assemblage of all the best bits from your montages each year. It might also serve to persuade people to watch all the way to the end of your videos - those who cop out are missing so much superb footage!
Yes, it snuck then little wheelie in didn’t it lol. If I had enough time I’d throw a ‘monster montage’ video together. I’m not sure I have the space on my laptop to get all the footage lol

The 6s really set that buggy on fire, usually the off brands don’t peak my interest for one reason or another but this one definitely gets my attention especially with the 6s setup . Great review Phil
The esc is just a surpass hobby one it only costs about 50 bucks to replace it. I’ve heard that is you run it on lower c count it will not have problems
After watching this and your other video, i went and got one today.
Got it running on 6s and wow... Its an animal.
I just hope it doesn't make my kyosho madvan and neo 3.0 nitro redundant, because the power is addictive.

I have owned the dr8 when they first come out very impressed it's a monster on 6s strong fast electrics very good what you get for the money is fantastic not as expensive as the other big boy brands and just as good. I took a gamble when they come out could not find any videos on the ftx dr8 there is now as have a few videos on my channel of the dr8 and now keep seeing them appear 👍I got this as like the desert buggy look haven't looked back very pleased.

Funnily enough i have been looking at the DR8 over the last couple of weeks on TH-cam. Trying to decide whether i should get one myself, looking for something a bit different & cheaper than the usual Arrma's that i often go for. To many nice trucks around, decisions, decisions to make. DR8 is a nice looking Dessert Racer, thanks for making this vid.

Known in Germany as the Reely Raptor, where it has a much bigger following. I have had one for some time, as the FS Racing Atom.
There are a few differences between the Atom, Raptor and the DR8 iirc the DR8 has a different servo mount.
I also have the Atom/Reely Raptor. Great desert buggy

I might have missed something but the battery cables looked to me in series, not in parallel, two 2S batteries in series makes 4S...

Yeah they are in series. So you either need a single 4s/6s with the shorting link or 2 x 2s or 3s

Nice rc, here in the USA it is an associated db8, but is like $700-$800. The closest thing we have atm in USA is a Discontinued Thunder Tiger 6s 1/8th buggy for $350ish, but parts are hard to come by. Id get the thunder tiger if parts were avail.
Yeah it's basically non existent is the USA, costing as much as a losi 1/6 scale at times
Force Rc 100 amp lineup is great and the 6s lineup is pretty much top of the line. Fs racing is the true brand name. They are of best quality in my opinion. I’d wanna see the 1/5 scale😎💯

My dad got me into these as a child but nitro , I now have a 9 year old son Iv just got him into it , with his Brushless Outlaw I bought him for Christmas , Iv now got my eye on one of these for my self 😎

@@oushhhhhhh9253 It’s pretty stable. It only lifts the front wheels on tarmac on a hot day when there is lots of grip
would be tempted to make it into a U4 trail/rock buggy, slower but still with speed., very pretty

i got one and its a tank.running it on two 3s 65c batts.no probs with it so far.had to change the wiring arrangement to accomodate the two batts.
What run time do you get with your two battery set up?

Reminds me of my db8 , which by the way have been the toughest RC I’ve ever owned , got it when it was first released and the body tray is gone and I’ve broken two arms and that’s it , typical AE alway release a good product then discontinue it.

I've got 2s Losi 22s- sct running 70-72 mph with a 70amp fuze esc, and a 3300kv fuze motor. The battery is a gens ace redline 8200mah, 130c 2s, it's gotta be the fastest 2s I've ever operated.

FS Racing, the manufacturer, does make the Leopard truggy and Sharks truck. Whether we will see them in the UK is a different matter.

You should get a ftx ravine it’s the best crawler I have ever used/seen and extremely durable and cheap compared to anything like it and generally better with 4 wheel steering and two motors

@@1982james111 I don't think it would have a UDR look, because it won't drive like one. I have the UDR, and there is no other rc that drives like it.

Hi, I just got this buggy and out of the box the roof panel is damaged.
Sent pictures to dealer but said he coudnt notice anything.Has this happened to you.Also small batttery tray. Cant fit 2×3s lipo on it.What do you run.

Wow nice rig that’s how I have the suspension setup on my t-maxx seems to handle alike building an e-maxx & think this might b the vid that pushes me into gear don’t get me wrong love my gasser but it’s just such a chore & I can’t run it on the beach everyone cry’s lol even putting stock pipe on the 27 it’s still loud but $$ of electrics is so affordable now I can prob get a close 2nd for what I pd for the 27 & just put it on the ground push a button & off we go ya know great vid
