Leon explained himself very eloquently.and now with self discipline and determination, hes no longer a victim ! More power to him,and i hope he reaches his lifes goals......
Respect for Leon for Telling us The Realities of Drug Abuse!!! Respect to Ryan as well It's amazing how Life's cross paths in life Leon's Story hit my Heart id love to Support him on his Journey to the Top
His life story reminds everyone else to treat others with kindness because you don't know what others are struggling with on daily basis in order to live or survive.
Incredible story......In a 'perfect world', those who beat their substance abuse addictions are awarded a medal of courage or similar.....but having a much-improved quality of life is actually a much more valuable benefit. Major congratulations to both.
One of the strongest stories I have ever heard. I struggled with tears all through it. I am so glad you have managed to turn your life around, Leon. You now have all our support, please use your closest friends to remind you how strong you have been, and to remind you of the beautiful life you can have out there. Life in Thailand will do a world of good for you, we Thais support you, and all people without judging. We are all in the same boat, struggling to get by in life. Let us help each other. Best of luck going forward 🤗🤗
This guy is a survivor who has figured out how to be a contribution to society. I admire both him and you. I am an unemployed man and am having a tough go of it . This video inspires me. Thank you.
This was a very in depth yet direct conversation, so many things to be learned, despite your past or your future the road/lessons he shared can resonate with many. I hope Leon continues with his growth (that ‘never turned, always turning’ was so powerful). Thank you for this conversation!
Thanks Leon for sharing your story, it's great that you are turning what must be a huge corner for you. All the best for the future. And thanks Ryan for bringing us this story, which although tragic is inspirational. ❤
What an inspirational, brilliant video which highlights the highs and lows of life. If there is one thing I will take from this is to look differently when I see a drug addict or someone huddled in a shop doorway. Thanks for making the video Ryan and thanks to Leon for sharing his honest account of his life so far.
Excellent video, always try to remember, "there is always someone who has had a more challenging life than yours". So onwards and upwards I say. 💪thanks Leon and Ryan.
Fantastic. Wow. Im a sober clean. Alcoholic. Addict. Sober now. Thank you. Im writing my story since jan 24. Thank you. I will keep writing edit # 23. Thank you. Good luck mate. God bless.
Leon is so eloquent in his account of his experience with addiction . It is good enough to become a documentary on addiction and recovery. I was glued to the screen because of how interesting he made it and how fluid his account was. This was one of your very best presentations, thank you for doing this. Since an intelligent fellow he is too.
Wow. Such a powerful episode. I really like these interviews you are conducting in Pai. You let the person talk and get their story out. Don’t get me wrong. I love your regular content, but these diversions away from that, I feel, are very worthwhile. Leon was very courageous to tell us about his life and struggles. It’s great he is in a different place now. Most probably can never dig themselves out of that deep a pit of despair.
I’ve been following your channel for the past year and always enjoyed your openness and honesty. You always tell it from the heart. You’ve had some interesting conversations with some very diverse characters over the months I’ve been watching you. But this life story from Leon is without doubt the most frank and open, bear your soul story, you’ve ever covered. This guy is smart, articulate and a likeable rogue who has met his demons and hopefully come out of the other side. I hope he will find the peace and happiness he’s been searching for all his life. Good luck to him and keep up the great vlogs Ryan 🙏👍
What a road Leon has traveled to come out the other side. He should be so proud of that little boy inside him that never gave up. A heartwarming story of overcoming the pain and living a good life in spite of it. ❤
Very interesting story. And a great warning to everyone out there, but also shows how you can sort your life out and find peace in yourself to be able to grow. Thanks Leon and Ryan for sharing.
Honesty in his Voice and the Truth he talks!! MUK Muk Respect to Leon l Pray he goes on to Help Others realise the Damage that Can be Done!! Leon your a Legend Buddy hope to see you on my Travels Take care Lad
beautiful video, brutally honest, these are my favorite videos of yours Ryan, we need more honesty in this world, I really appreciate how this guy turned his life around, nothing but love for him. The point you help others is the point you go forward in life and feel good about yourself
Thank goodness he’s made an incredible recovery! Leon has made it out in one piece …..and he can use his experience to help others overcome their addictions. Thanks for posting this video Ryan!
What a story. Leon has really struggled like few people - including myself - could ever imagine. I can't see his struggle ever subsiding but my hope for him is he finds a peace that makes him smile and he lives a long life continuing to overcome. Bless you Leon and thanks for sharing your story.
I got r word by a kick boxer on samui at 17(48 now) in My beach hut , I'd run away from home (Singapore) and knew samui from family school holidays abroad and was there for 3 months. I ended up unwittingly taking H with some hippy type island boys smoking it in their bong. Kicked off a 13 year habit. I understand the freeze state one goes into .it's survival.I understand the shame of not fighting back. .it was both one of the worst times in my life and also the best (freedom to be oneself where no one knew me) Well done for turning the trauma around Leon 🙏❤ I experienced great kindness from many people there though , taken care of by some Thai lady boys , who fed me and lent me their make up lol after all my money and some belongings stolen.Enjoying this pai series !
Thank you both for this. The rawness of the video brings the reality of a life we can not begin to understand as in most cases living the privileged life of an expat here, no matter what our lives are like here we will not be exposed the the harsh reality of what you and so many have and still are experiencing, thank you for you honesty and sharing. One of your best videos yet.
All I can say is WOW cudos to you for sharing Leon's story which has given me a outlook of how much struggle some people go through, including yourself. But not only drug addicts or alcoholics but people with lesser problems are just as vulnerable. Life is up and down but with understanding and patience and compassion we have the ability to go forward and learn by mistakes we make. Live to live and learn.
Great job Ryan, the story was told with understanding, compassion, and absolutely no prejudice. Having come from a career that dealt with many people and their addictions, I know its easy to wash your hands of the human side of their problems, and put everyone into the same "loser" basket.. Well done mate 🙂🙂
Wow, what an incredibly powerful story from Leon. He has been on a terrible journey and is lucky to be alive. He should write a book about his journey and the hard lessons he's learned in his life. Hope the next stage of his life is kinder to him and his loved ones. Great interview, and hats off to both of you for sharing this powerful video. 🙏🙏🙏
good on you Leon. remember man "the only thing to fear, is fear itself". Fear will put you into a situation where you need to rely on it. second by second man live your life whatever and where ever it may take you in total mindfulness. one eye on the mind the other on the world.
Congratulations on these milestones of achievements, Leon!!! And you as well, Ryan!!! It takes a real man to recognize where he is, face it, and do something about changing it for the better! Really proud of you, man!!! NEVER STOP!!! KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Wow, great vlog today. These are the stories that need to be told and so few do. So thanks Ryan for doing this because I am sure it will help someone, somewhere and that is a great thing to do through your channel.
Jesus, when this started I was thinking 'some scouse with a son story holidaying in Thailand' Took about 5 mins of his narration to realise he is genuine bloke. Really well spoken, straight up and.truw story telling. Good on you both
Thank you for your truth Leon. Thank you Ryan for the interview. "There But For Fortune, Go You or I" Joan Baez, Phil Ochs. Amazing, sad, tragic, hopeful conversation Leon ...The fact that you ran away at 8 is mind boggling, like an Oliver Twist story in the 21st century. Glad to hear Leon has broken through, found humility, humanity, and purpose in his journey. Peace, Love, Growth Y'all Personal....Addiction is a human condition for many. Coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and ganja are some of mine, had a decent childhood, always worked, studied, yet always think too much and analyze things and situations...
That was the best vlog you have ever done. This touches so much. Not just a problem for the poor. It happens to the rich also but the help is there when you have money. We changed with mushrooms. That first time you touch a tree and understand that it;s alive the world becomes a very different place.
Thank you Leon & Ryan for sharing this powerful & interesting story. Leon, it sounds to me that you already have the tools to write a book to inspire & help more folks out there in the world who are suffering in their own deep dark places, where no one is there to help them, I hope & pray and feel a lot of good can come out of stories like this and a lot more meaningful work can be done if the powers that be, could be encouraged to understand & help to find a solution to these escalating issues in the world rather than filling up our already overcrowded prisons which isn't the answer. It's a massive problem here in the UK which is getting worse, and there are not enough experienced people out there to deal with it and so I hope you can put this tough & compelling experience to good use. Keep up the good work in all your vlogs Ryan but this one is special, thank you.
I wish Leon's life had been easier and he never had to deal with the things he did, but it's a great testament to his strength and resilience that he's been able to take control of his life and story and use it as a force for good. Thanks for sharing. I hope Leon continues to be able to help others in their recoveries.
Its great to hear your story, thank you for sharing. It gives me hope as I'm currently getting sober with the plan to travel and possibly move to Thailand one day. Ive been sober since January from tobacco, cannabis, alcohol and everything else i managed to get hold of. I'm aiming to be off buprenorphine by the end of the year (Ive been on it many times for opiate addiction). This is the first time ive really committed to being sober and managed to find some trauma therapy that ive been unable to get on the NHS (I'm in Newcastle Upon Tyne). It was ego death on psychedelics that stopped me from trying to end myself repeatedly but deciding to sober up 'properly' took me many more years to even believe could be possible! Fear can be so powerful! Its crazy how paralysing fear can be but the natural high of pushing through those fears is amazing. Im 41 and still at the beginning of learning who i am and want to try doing things on my own rather than being dependant on others to do everything. I loved helping people but pulled back due to hurt/my lack of boundaries but would love to find out my purpose in helping others when im stronger.
That man should be telling his story on every media outlet possible. The difference he could make to so many peoples lives is unmeasurable. All those mistakes and wrong doings that he has tucked in his back pocket along the way, are now being brought out one by one to reflect upon and try to nurture others who are struggling. Top Man Leon. Thankyou Ryan enjoy being back with family❤🙏
This is a great video and hopefully a series to give hope to the broken and downtrodden. There is hope and Leon’s story is a testimony of that. There is hope, just seek the Light!
Amazing story, well done to you both for where you’re at now, and now the chance to help so many people out there is golden , I’m totally the opposite, but you have my respect for what you are achieving now, and given me an understanding of the pain and struggles life brings to people who can do better given understanding and love and support well done thanks cheers
Interesting life story from Leon and congratulations to his resilience and the ability to turn his life around striving to be the best version of himselfm and great interview by Ryan 👌
How insane....TH-cam forces you to edit out key words. This is the ultimate positive, life-changing video....and we have to be PC. OMG....this world is really going to hell in a handbag! Thank you for sharing with us, Leon. Thank you for promoting awareness, Ryan.
Very interesting and as mentioned Leon was very good at relaying his story. I think a lot if us have been through some kind of addiction in our life's, with myself it was , like you Ryan alcohol. I was sober for 25yrs and recently have started to drink again but I consider my drinking now as more social than probmatic. Still having said that I realise I still have that addiction and some control needs to be exerted to prevent myself relapsing back into my old ways. Thanks for sharing Ryan
Leon's story will help many. We are not ALONE. Keep this video,( on going, ) to help a wider audience, as it is needed.. TU ❤😊LOVE Light and laughter to ALL THAT IS
Powerful stuff he's the type of guy society calls but it's social problems that are not being faced and resolved no one can condon what he he did but I wish him good luck for the future on his journey
I know this story. I worked as a therapist with recovering addicts. 70% had suffered abuse. For many of the guys I was the 1st they’d ever told the truth to…
Thank you for your share Leon. And congratulations on your sobriety. Thank you Ryan for this video. And congratulations on your sobriety also. 1 day at a time my friends. Just turned sixty this year and 18 years sober myself this year. I started my sobriety in Thailand while living in Mukdahan north east Thailand. I became a monk for a short time on the advice of a very dear friend. that was the start of my recovery from the grip of alcohol. I have been living in Morecambe since 2004 and i still visit Thailand twice a year after living in Thailand for 2 years. I have been following your channels since there start. I would love to chew the fat with you Ryan if you have the time when i visit again next year. Peace and love to you both and your families.
Leon, thank you for sharing your story, very brave of you to do that.Life can be a real challenge,it can throw all sorts of curve balls at you,but I give you all my best wishes and somehow think you are going to make it,from 73 year old Kiwi
very honest and inspirational video. Huge respect to Leon for telling his story and to you Ryan for bringing content like this. I have a british friend who got into drugs and an uncle in Thailand who is an addict. I feel like maybe i can understand them a bit more after watching this :) keep up the great work
Massive respect Leon, you're a very smart bloke. You've made amazing progress very fast. I would highly recommend getting Michael Singer into your life - he explains the deepest shit of life better than anyone else IMO. He's a yogi and also a highly successful businessman, he fills in the gaps that all the psychologists miss. It's not religious, just eternal wisdom. There are tons of his talks on here, and interviews/podcasts. Trust me, I promise! All the best mate, enjoy Thailand. PS Holotropic Breathwork and Stan Grof, Peter Levine, Bessel van der Kolk and Stephen Porges/Polyvagal Theory are all very worthwhile investigating!
I'm so glad that Leon is responsible by sharing his own information about his life to you. "Addiction isn't about drugs and alcohol. It's the absence of self. This absence is described as a hole in your soul. You can't love others when you're empty inside. Recovery peels back the painful layers and heals that hole through connection, honesty and hard work. To love one self is the beginning of a lifetime recovery."
Could you do some interviews with different expats and ask them how they make a living over in Thailand? I'm going in January to ask around myself, but it would be interesting to learn what people work with.
Please remember before commenting that I am not only following Leons story as he tells it but I am also asking the questions, checking the video (glances towards the camera) and being the sound guy in a busy cafe, so my production is not quite as smooth as a studio or with a team. Big thanks to Le’on for his honesty.
"Only that man is free, that is in control over himself"
Thank you Leon, for your story and honesty. I heard humility and honesty. God bless in the future.
All the best my friend
Keep at it Leon , thanks for sharing your story . You can help so many people by just being your true self now .
Respect to Leon for sharing his story, wishing him all the best in his future endevhours.

What a great chat, I hope Leon finds peace.
I know this story.
I worked as a therapist with recovering addicts.
70% had suffered abuse. For many of the guys I was the 1st they’d ever told the truth to…
These are the type of videos that make TH-camr have value. thanks
Beautiful Ryan. Great Segway.
I feel like maybe i can understand them a bit more after watching this :) keep up the great work
This was deep watched the full thing and I struggle with adhd great podcast
Interesting Video - I like your interview style, you should do more interviews.
Leon you are an inspiration....keep on keeping on!
Good on you Leon😊
Love these stories, keep on keeping on Leon.
The only way a expat can work is with the visa you get .
I cant work on a retirement visa .
Adam Parker just did an interview with an Aussie about this very topic. Go look him up.
Interesting guy it’s a common story unfortunately, well done for keeping clean I wish his the best of luck
How brave of him to tell this terrible life story. Thank goodness he turned around
I grew up in Manchester during the 80s / 90s , addiction or self medication was an easy trap to fall into that few escape.
It’s okay to change,turn yourself around.Life is good.❤️
