Yeaaah man, you're legit the best on MPC tutorials. For me, personally, knowing the actual details and "science" of what's happening to the sound is the difference between me using something or avoiding it. I'm a big fan of this plugin, especially for bass and drums so far. I noticed Jonwayne (Jon Makes Beats) used it a lot before I even got my MPC and started using it right from the jump when I received it.
Man when you put it on the Mini Moog it got phat, sounds awesome! Enjoyed it on the guitar too! Being a guitarist I definitely dig that tone. Sounds killer on all the examples though really.
Thanks conan for explqining these things. There a lot of plugins that i dont understand as noob , but i have seen songs getting 10x better after they mixed it
Difficult to compare in my opinion because I use them for different purposes on the master out. Clipper for volume and reduced dynamic range and the Tube Drive for flavour.
Another great vid .. thank you cause I be lost with what the plugin is actually doing to the audio but I admit with your vids I get a better understanding when I approach the next beat 🫡✌🏽
Yeh, as I explained in the video, I wouldn’t use just Tube Drive as an effect on its own. I would have things before or after. Regarding vocals, of course they would be de-essed. The vocals in the video were raw and untreated. There is no de-esser in the MPC, however there is a way of building one in the MPC and I am literally working on that video as we speak.
@@_thevaporz I am actually recording a video tomorrow showing how to build your own De-Esser in the MPC, which is coincidental as you were talking about sibilance.
@@TheCratesMotel Then maybe I could suggest something. There is that guy, NavieD, who has a series on his channel, where he fixes peoples beats in terms of overall construction. I used to like to watch it but I think mixing and mastering problems are much more common. Maybe you could keep the mixing and mastering series (forever) but instead of fixing your clients' almost perfect beats, try to deal with community ones. The real world problems, you know. That would be really interesting to watch.
I startet using the Tube Drive and it made my Beats instantly better sounding. Totally a go to Effect on the MPC.
I completely agree mate.
The MPC is really an powerhouse of an device. I'm really excited when Akai will finally release the official 3.0 firmware
Yeh man, same.

Thank you for the insight on the air tube drive!

Geat examples. Grimey Distortion is another unsung hero in the MPC for harmonics.
Yes mate, definitely an unsung hero!

Yes it imprints a lovely tone on guitars doesn’t it.
excellent timing
I just love this damn plugin!!

"Rabbits jumping around in fields" 🤣 Made me laugh, cheers Conan. Great video, I've started using TD a lot recently and it really does work wonders.
Haha it was what came to mind when I was thinking of nice soft happy fluffiness.

Crazy this is more informative then reading the manual , I hav to ask how would you compare this to the air soft clipper on the master

I love this plugin as well dude
Yeh mate!!!

Straight up beefy box
Agreed 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It was really bad on vocals; too much sibilance. How would you combat this, with AIR Kill EQ or another plugin?

One day you will have covered all important plugins, techniques and even the mythical gain staging. What's you plan for that day?
Hmm that’s a good question.
+1 for gain staging !
