Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.
His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.
The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.

Thanks so much for filming and sharing your creative process with us. Watching you paint brings me a lot of joy and inspiration! I also love that you didn't add any music to the video while you painted. It's really nice hearing the sounds of your tools against the paper :) Thanks again!

I watched with great interest. Because I like to paint outside. I find it difficult to focus on that particular part I want to draw. So much information. Thank you for sharing.

I felt an AH HAH moment reading the video title! Abstract is such a challenge and trying to be so loose with my painting! Paint hat you SEE not what you THINK is brilliant in helping me to remember to be loose and not have an expectation n my head about the end result! Thank you!

Absolutely. Don’t finish the painting in your head before you’ve made the first mark!

Always look forward to your videos. I did your course last year and can highly recommend.

Another inspirational video. And a very good message / reminder - to truly paint in the moment and reflect what you see/feel in that moment. Easy to say and understand, somewhat harder to actually do. Though I love your style and attitude and freedom of abstraction, I find it hard to actually put into practice. I've just recently retired and have the brainstorm to take your philosophy and style into my back yard garden and see what I can accomplish by letting go of expectations and representation, and instead create something free and representative of "in the moment". Thanks so much for all the work sharing your videos!

Really beautiful in its simplicity and mood, Lewis. I hope you end up cropping this, can’t wait to see how it turns out! Cheers

Have been following you for sometime now! Love your mobile studio. Amazing. Love your approach to mark making and art. So free and spirited. You have a fan in Pennsylvania, USA!

It would be helpful if you displayed your inspirational image or view while painting. It is frustrating to watch chaotic painting without seeing a reference.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. There are quite a lot of shots of what I was painting though.
