Lewis feels things….like feeling the wind or the air. Goodness that has helped me so much. Splattering here and there. He is amazingly inspirational. Thanks Lewis, you make me think about how I feel in the moment. The marks, the dynamics of expressing myself and the freedom to be me. I can’t explain it more than that! Thank you so much, I love my work so much more now.
What a great treat both my favorite teachers at once!! loads of great stuff, thanks to you both! I’m writing notes and trying to soaking it all in, now for the doing part that’s on me, John from Indiana
Interestingly….up to the moment I watched this - my difficulty with painting realistic is that I knew the sky completely surrounds everything and I couldn’t comprehend the painting process of perspective, vanishing point, horizon etc because I don’t see in 2D 3D. I understood you. The feeling of space, the experience needed to be part of painting somehow. Finally, you explained my thinking.😊
Thank you Lewis, your process about using collage has been of great help to me, it has made the process of painting much more fun!. Louise is another gem from whom I learnt a lot. Thank you both.
A really interesting chat that gives a real impression of how you work from the landscape. Every time I come on your workshops just gives more insight into your process, but it’s great to hear your responses to the specific questions put to you. When I can’t remember something, I can go back to this to remind me, so really useful. Thanks Lewis.
I’m delighted to have watched and listened to both of you, as I’ve only recently found you on U-tube. I Love the ‘it’s just a pot’ story! In contrast to Lewis’ ceramics story, many years ago, in my first stage of doing pottery, I made and gave an oddly formed bowl to my future husband, and when he first held it in his hands he DID ask: what is it’?
An excellent interview thank you! - I learn so much from hearing you talk about the landscape and bringing it back into painting - thanks so much to you both
Wonderful interview! Lewis Noble is so modest and genuine but such a talented artist!
