I really enjoyed this honest, frank and interesting interview. I agree with Nik about the release timing of his second album. I bet his work schedule was off the scale at the time. A few months rest in between albums would of been best. In 84 I always think Nik, Duran Duran, and Frankie were on Top of the pops so much, that they had their own parking spaces at the BBC. 😂 I’m glad you talked about the personal effects of fame on you both. I know I would struggle with being recognised. Do you think there needs to be more teaching and preparation for fame when it arrives for singers, musicians and actors etc? 😊

Great interview Ally.Nik was my very first concert here in New Zealand 85 I think. Great questions,and a Good insight into why and what happens behind the scenes.cheers!
This is a lovely interview, only stumbled on it by accident and ended up watching the whole thing(!) and found out who Ally Begg is (Sorry Ally) :) There are many similarities between Nik's success and that of Men At Work with the quick release of albums in the 80s and a loss of momentum by "the third album". Ally you should interview your fellow Scot Colin Hay on here, the story is almost a carbon copy of Nik's story in parts. Nik is such a lovely guy, even if he is a self-confessed control freak. His songs are timeless and a hugely underrated guitar player and songwriter. It's nice also to listen to Ally's take on his similar experiences many years later. Thank you for this interview Ally.
Really enjoed this Ally. I love Nik's work over the years. I think he's one of the best lyricists we have, and his song arrangements are so clever, and it's great hearing all the insights about Live Aid etc...especially after reading Bob's book "Is that it ?"
HOW MUCH TALENT did THE BIRDIE SONG...... SHUDDUPA YA FACE ........ KYLIE.......and all the stock aitken waterman crap have?????? NONE but it was packaged up like fast food and force fed and made record companies RICH.
