Well my husband of 23 years was diagnosed with cancer and it actually brought us closer. I quit my job to take care of him and he passed away 7 months later. So not all marriages or relationships end due to illness. We made vows "for better for worse ...in sickness and in health" i stayed faithful to those vows. 💔💔

“let her insecurity get to her like that” is sort of an ignorant thing to say. someone can’t help that they’ve been treated poorly or was made to believe there was something wrong with them in previous relationships. she was just trusting her gut and there’s nothing wrong with that. and no “nice guy” will ever say all the right things, only someone who is calculated would do that.
Leo says in the show that he would much rather have his problem than the problem of lack of money - in this context, his “problem” is his whole family dying. Constantly talking about how blessed he is for the money, how deserving he is for his wealth gives me the creeps!

DC resident here: Mitch literally described the plot of 'Coming to America' and attributed it to a Hallmark movie lol art dealer does not necessarily equal gallery owner. I'm a black woman and I really don't care about Leo assuming Brittany being white. I also don't date white men, so I didn't take it personally. I'd have to disagree with you on Taylor not revealing her ethnicity. I thought she made it weird. She didn't need say anything about her mom's name and thought her saying it would lead to G knowing what she looked like made it a bigger issue than it needed to be. Taylor is extremely guarded and as Queen E notes in her video "prickly." I think there's a lot of reading into Garrett, expecting racial tension when, from my perspective there wasn't any. I also think Taylor is self-conscious about her Asian-ness on some level because she's hyperaware that's how she's read and categorized. I also think you're doing a lot (lol) with the intellectual superiority stuff. Sure, maybe I'm numb to it because I live and work here BUT I just looked at G and Taylor and thought "two science nerds with dry senses of humor connecting." Of course there are people who are snooty and think they are better but nothing of the kind even came out of their mouths during the first episode and they were talking to each other, not talking down or condescending towards other people. I just didn't get that vibe.
I really appreciate the perspective of a DC local, especially the counterpoints. I think by episode 2 or 3 we really see the sciencey nerd stuff between Garret and Taylor as more just them being nerds. I think having known a person or two from the area that were very obsessed with their own superiority colored our perspective when we saw them. And I can see what you mean by Taylor making it weird. I dont think our concerns of Garret follow in the next two episodes though we have yet to see 4, 5, 6. And with the hallmark reference, I think I pictured the cover of Princess Bride (without knowing the plot at all) and then forgot the name of coming to America while picturing Eddie Murphy in his royal regalia and truly forgetting whether or not he even pretended to be a commoner. Its been a few decades since Ive seen it. So I settled on hallmark movie, lol

The first two days they wear the same outfit coz the first date is 10-15 minutes long. They sometimes edit the first two dates as one coz first date is too short He probably didn't wear the socks the first day and wore them the second day
The episodes are kinda all over the place when it comes to real storylines. You can see it in every seasons that sometimes in episode 3/4 some people are wearing the same outfits as in episode 1. Same for the proposal day, they make it look like some ask before others but you can tell it’s not necessarily the case.

My fiance and I lost one of our dogs a few weeks ago to kidney failure. Unfortunately we caught it too late and it was rather shocking and unexpected. He was actually the youngest of the pack.its been the hardest for us too but contentlike yours helpsme get through.. Thankfully we have our other 2 babies that helped us get through the mourning process as well. I couldn't imagine how even more broken we'd be without them.

Im hoping you have been able to and continue to heal, and are able to shower your other two with all the treats and affection they deserve. on season 1, there was a man who said to Lauren Speed in the pods thahe he could 'tell she was black from her voice'. Thats the only instance I can think of. BUT I must say the fact that that guy said he doesnt understand why she wouldnt want to disclose race is soooooo PRIVILEGED. If you are socially aware of how POC are treated in general, you'd think he would clue in even a smidge, or take time to reflect. He needs to not date POC if he's in his 30s and has no basic awareness.

I think there is definitely a love for learning for some people, especially in the sciences. And when you find another science geek, it’s kind of exciting. I think that’s kinda where Garrett and Taylor are coming from. I don’t think they feel superior to others, I think it’s more that they found a kindred spirit in a fellow science geek so they feel seen. I am an engineer, I don’t think I’m better or smarter than someone in another profession, and I don’t feel like I am the smartest in my own field, but I do love nerdy science stuff. My husband is also an engineer, we always talk about how we get each other on a different level than if we were with someone who had a very different passion or career. Ofc that’s not our whole personalities but I felt a similar vibe from Garrett and Taylor, in that specific regard.

They have been going strong for a year, and Darien actually jumped into a lake to save her dog.... lol....and producers gave her the garter belt from the wedding game, for her to wear on her actual wedding day IF they get married.....and who knows they might do a wedding special with them, because so many people loved their story.
For a minute I thought you meant Kronk from Emperor's New Groove, and was fully agreeing that he has more swag than Nick D. 😂 Kronk for swag master. It does feel like this cast is a little high off their own gas. And I'm finding it difficult to root for anyone at this point, tbh. After the degree of egregiousness that married at first sight does when it comes to non announced product placement. It would appear Love is blind has finally really decided to jump on the bandwagon and hear the ones that seem to keep happening.... They are involved with some clothing line that seems to specialize in green silk numbers and oddly some form of faux leather or full-on PVC skirts pants you name it. (Although I am fairly certain that in the beginning Vanessa is in factoring several garbage bags not a dress from a designer looking to get their clothes on a Netflix show... Unless of course the designer is hefty). Some absolutely startlingly large and honestly looking like warped white Legos dad sneakers everyone seems to be wearing...(Made 10 times more obvious due to the fact that up until now and every other season we had to put up with the weird insistence of all of the Love is blind cast running around barefoot non-stop after the 2nd day of the pods were open.... Converse platforms It's not quite as bad as married at first sight but they are definitely pushing wherever it is they're getting the rings from it since in Pryor seasons usually there wasn't a lot of talk about what the rings would look like in fact it usually happened as almost in a side after all the couples have matched up, the Wii resort with Jared and Mallory, nothing else. All of the proposals when they have their first face-to-face moment are including the very clear getting on down on my knee with the little box they're pulling out and waving around... Often either leaving out in the open or holding it up for a somewhat uncomfortable amount of time maybe even stupid by the fact that they're not zooming in on it so you can't actually see the brand up close....but those rings are DEFINITELY the same Jeweler... About the cut and the style of the gem all the girls want. Something very rarely saw in prior seasons and definitely not with every single couple. The also bizarre combination of everyone running around and trading Sherpa blankets along with spraying themselves with cologne and then trading those as well.... Which year I guess it's kind of cute and I understand but it's happened too many times to not be very clearly some sort of ad placement. Presumably by whichever designer revamped a lot of these soft plush decor items in all the pods because they have way more color pop and pattern to them now, as a nitpick though it is ultimately making them look kind of cluttered... What I can only describe as legitimately cool but wacky boots that scream vintage 60s inspired but not actually vintage. The black and gold double-sided tissue paper around the massive bouquets of flowers because they're definitely using the same for all the flowers... Some of the guys in prior years would give flowers but they typically would be different these are very clearly all the exact same set aside from one or two who went in with additional flower gifts. But almost every girl who was proposed to did get that obnoxious beauty pageant queen size bouquet. Find it's super funny and a little concerning, likely due to the backlash they got about the bread especially when compared to the alleged conditions on set regarding how readily available alcohol was where as water and carbohydrates or just juice was much harder to come by and often had to be requested. In connection we're seeing a whole heckofalot of metal straws. These Are being paired with the new garbage saves a belief in various merch listings, on their surface it should be fine their environmentally friendly they're cute you can mix and match however if we take into consideration the fast and loose and honestly incredibly dangerous by Netflix handles alcohol in their reality TV shows having them all drinking it out of straw is a nightmarish disaster waiting to happen.... I will continue pointing out obnoxious product placement that they are not presenting well nor having been effectively with each episode...no no one in their right mind would ever want anyone to make a list like that, the same way I doubt anyone wants to read it..... Still I I persist.

So I tried something new and watched the first episodes with a towel on my TV (until the first reveal) and could only see the names at the bottom of the screen. While I was surprised by a few people, Brittany looks EXACTLY how I pictured her. Girl, you are a not a trophy wife, at the end of the day you are in the same situation as everyone else on the show, looking for love at 32, you are not better than anyone. That was my reaction from Episode 1 at least.

I’m not sure why you guys keep saying that the sciency people see themselves as intellectually superior. I didn’t get that from them at all. They obviously enjoy geeking out together and being able to use their Sciency terms together, but I see that a cute and fun for them. They can just be their full authentic selves together and enjoy it. Maybe I missed something, but I did not see their enjoyment of science, as having anything to do with other people and the need to compare. I think they’re just enjoying the connection. Yeah, yikes. This season has a lot of weird race stuff. I think it’s super interesting because as a Canadian, I assumed that the seasons filmed in Texas and NC would’ve been the most outward with this stuff, I was really taken aback by the amount of casual racism that is thrown around in this season, especially from the men. I’m disappointed though, already knowing how Black women and other women of colour have been treated in the past and knowing how badly the Lachey’s are at reunions that this won’t be handled well at all.

I like the science couple but don't like that he called her manipulative/calculated but like that they talked it through. I got the impression that it wasn't an issue until it was a secret. I didn't get the superiority thing from them, they just both seemed to like science and connect on it even though they both preferred different sciences. Leo (art gallery guy) made my head hurt with all his talk about money and not wanting people to treat him differently because of money. Hannah made me anxious cause I think she was so stressed and anxious. I feel bad for her that it seemed like she was swayed by the other women. Some people click and others don't and she and Nick D seemed to click. I was holding reservations about Nick D & Brittany. Looking forward to seeing if your opinions change. I never thought about it. I actually use discord these days for a few personal things, but I dont know exactly what people expect as far as a group thing. Can you elaborate like youre explaining it to a 60 year old father who is bad with tech?
@@membriash I'll do my best as I don't know all the ins and outs and Discord. I am a member of a few and what I like is that you can create different channels/sections and organize them as you want. For example, you can create separate sections for each show and further divide that by season or by show/season and then by episode. In a way it is similar to an outline or outline list with only two levels. It is similar to Teams chat in that sense as well Members would post in the appropriate channel and discuss. They have the ability to hide text in the posts to avoid spoilers. What I usually do is include some text to indicate what I'm talking about and then hide the details. Example below the text in || || is hidden (blacked out) and you have to click on it to see the text: Ep 1: Leo ||is hurting my brain with all the talk about money|| Replies to posts would show the message being responded to so that its easy to see what the person was responding to. Members can be tagged in posts similar to Teams chat using @ Members have the option to turn off notification and/or mute specific channels if they are not interested in that show You can even create roles for the Discord. I don't know much about how that works but I've seen some where you can select your role based on multiple choice options. Maybe something like selecting with shows you like to watch. I know you can have custom emojis but don't know the process If there is a show you want to discuss but don't want to do a vid to post on youtube (maybe its too long or something) you can create a channel/section for that I hope this helps give an idea of what it would look like and how it can be used. Let me know what questions you have and I'll see if I can find the answers. I just thought this would be a fun addition but it is of course completely up to you if you find this interesting :)

I also think Taylor is self-conscious about her Asian-ness on some level because she's hyperaware that's how she's read and categorized. I also think you're doing a lot (lol) with the intellectual superiority stuff. Sure, maybe I'm numb to it because I live and work here BUT I just looked at G and Taylor and thought "two science nerds with dry senses of humor connecting." Of course there are people who are snooty and think they are better but nothing of the kind even came out of their mouths during the first episode and they were talking to each other, not talking down or condescending towards other people. I just didn't get that vibe.
I really appreciate the perspective of a DC local, especially the counterpoints. I think by episode 2 or 3 we really see the sciencey nerd stuff between Garret and Taylor as more just them being nerds. I think having known a person or two from the area that were very obsessed with their own superiority colored our perspective when we saw them. And I can see what you mean by Taylor making it weird. I dont think our concerns of Garret follow in the next two episodes though we have yet to see 4, 5, 6. And with the hallmark reference, I think I pictured the cover of Princess Bride (without knowing the plot at all) and then forgot the name of coming to America while picturing Eddie Murphy in his royal regalia and truly forgetting whether or not he even pretended to be a commoner. Its been a few decades since Ive seen it. So I settled on hallmark movie, lol

The episodes are kinda all over the place when it comes to real storylines. You can see it in every seasons that sometimes in episode 3/4 some people are wearing the same outfits as in episode 1. Same for the proposal day, they make it look like some ask before others but you can tell it’s not necessarily the case.

My fiance and I lost one of our dogs a few weeks ago to kidney failure. Unfortunately we caught it too late and it was rather shocking and unexpected. He was actually the youngest of the pack.its been the hardest for us too but contentlike yours helpsme get through.. Thankfully we have our other 2 babies that helped us get through the mourning process as well. I couldn't imagine how even more broken we'd be without them.

Im hoping you have been able to and continue to heal, and are able to shower your other two with all the treats and affection they deserve. BUT I must say the fact that that guy said he doesnt understand why she wouldnt want to disclose race is soooooo PRIVILEGED. If you are socially aware of how POC are treated in general, you'd think he would clue in even a smidge, or take time to reflect. He needs to not date POC if he's in his 30s and has no basic awareness.

I think there is definitely a love for learning for some people, especially in the sciences. And when you find another science geek, it’s kind of exciting. I think that’s kinda where Garrett and Taylor are coming from. I don’t think they feel superior to others, I think it’s more that they found a kindred spirit in a fellow science geek so they feel seen. I am an engineer, I don’t think I’m better or smarter than someone in another profession, and I don’t feel like I am the smartest in my own field, but I do love nerdy science stuff. My husband is also an engineer, we always talk about how we get each other on a different level than if we were with someone who had a very different passion or career. Ofc that’s not our whole personalities but I felt a similar vibe from Garrett and Taylor, in that specific regard.

It's not quite as bad as married at first sight but they are definitely pushing wherever it is they're getting the rings from it since in Pryor seasons usually there wasn't a lot of talk about what the rings would look like in fact it usually happened as almost in a side after all the couples have matched up, the Wii resort with Jared and Mallory, nothing else. All of the proposals when they have their first face-to-face moment are including the very clear getting on down on my knee with the little box they're pulling out and waving around... Often either leaving out in the open or holding it up for a somewhat uncomfortable amount of time maybe even stupid by the fact that they're not zooming in on it so you can't actually see the brand up close....but those rings are DEFINITELY the same Jeweler... About the cut and the style of the gem all the girls want. Something very rarely saw in prior seasons and definitely not with every single couple.
The also bizarre combination of everyone running around and trading Sherpa blankets along with spraying themselves with cologne and then trading those as well.... Which year I guess it's kind of cute and I understand but it's happened too many times to not be very clearly some sort of ad placement. Presumably by whichever designer revamped a lot of these soft plush decor items in all the pods because they have way more color pop and pattern to them now, as a nitpick though it is ultimately making them look kind of cluttered...
What I can only describe as legitimately cool but wacky boots that scream vintage 60s inspired but not actually vintage.
The black and gold double-sided tissue paper around the massive bouquets of flowers because they're definitely using the same for all the flowers... Some of the guys in prior years would give flowers but they typically would be different these are very clearly all the exact same set aside from one or two who went in with additional flower gifts. But almost every girl who was proposed to did get that obnoxious beauty pageant queen size bouquet.
Find it's super funny and a little concerning, likely due to the backlash they got about the bread especially when compared to the alleged conditions on set regarding how readily available alcohol was where as water and carbohydrates or just juice was much harder to come by and often had to be requested. In connection we're seeing a whole heckofalot of metal straws. These Are being paired with the new garbage saves a belief in various merch listings, on their surface it should be fine their environmentally friendly they're cute you can mix and match however if we take into consideration the fast and loose and honestly incredibly dangerous by Netflix handles alcohol in their reality TV shows having them all drinking it out of straw is a nightmarish disaster waiting to happen.... I will continue pointing out obnoxious product placement that they are not presenting well nor having been effectively with each episode...no no one in their right mind would ever want anyone to make a list like that, the same way I doubt anyone wants to read it..... Still I I persist.

So I tried something new and watched the first episodes with a towel on my TV (until the first reveal) and could only see the names at the bottom of the screen. While I was surprised by a few people, Brittany looks EXACTLY how I pictured her. Girl, you are a not a trophy wife, at the end of the day you are in the same situation as everyone else on the show, looking for love at 32, you are not better than anyone. That was my reaction from Episode 1 at least.

I’m not sure why you guys keep saying that the sciency people see themselves as intellectually superior. I didn’t get that from them at all. They obviously enjoy geeking out together and being able to use their Sciency terms together, but I see that a cute and fun for them. They can just be their full authentic selves together and enjoy it. Maybe I missed something, but I did not see their enjoyment of science, as having anything to do with other people and the need to compare. I think they’re just enjoying the connection. I don’t see it as any different from any other topic that people might get excited to geek out about together. No need to judge that.

Yeah, yikes. This season has a lot of weird race stuff. I think it’s super interesting because as a Canadian, I assumed that the seasons filmed in Texas and NC would’ve been the most outward with this stuff, I was really taken aback by the amount of casual racism that is thrown around in this season, especially from the men. I’m disappointed though, already knowing how Black women and other women of colour have been treated in the past and knowing how badly the Lachey’s are at reunions that this won’t be handled well at all.

I'm near the end of episode three so I'm trying to keep my opinions to what happened in the first episode.
I like the science couple but don't like that he called her manipulative/calculated but like that they talked it through. I got the impression that it wasn't an issue until it was a secret. I didn't get the superiority thing from them, they just both seemed to like science and connect on it even though they both preferred different sciences.
Leo (art gallery guy) made my head hurt with all his talk about money and not wanting people to treat him differently because of money.
Hannah made me anxious cause I think she was so stressed and anxious. I feel bad for her that it seemed like she was swayed by the other women. Some people click and others don't and she and Nick D seemed to click.
I was holding reservations about Nick D & Brittany. Looking forward to seeing if your opinions change.

I never thought about it. I actually use discord these days for a few personal things, but I dont know exactly what people expect as far as a group thing. Can you elaborate like youre explaining it to a 60 year old father who is bad with tech?
@@membriash I'll do my best as I don't know all the ins and outs and Discord. I am a member of a few and what I like is that you can create different channels/sections and organize them as you want. For example, you can create separate sections for each show and further divide that by season or by show/season and then by episode. In a way it is similar to an outline or outline list with only two levels. It is similar to Teams chat in that sense as well
Members would post in the appropriate channel and discuss. They have the ability to hide text in the posts to avoid spoilers. What I usually do is include some text to indicate what I'm talking about and then hide the details. Example below the text in || || is hidden (blacked out) and you have to click on it to see the text:

Replies to posts would show the message being responded to so that its easy to see what the person was responding to.
Members can be tagged in posts similar to Teams chat using @
Members have the option to turn off notification and/or mute specific channels if they are not interested in that show
You can even create roles for the Discord. I don't know much about how that works but I've seen some where you can select your role based on multiple choice options. Maybe something like selecting with shows you like to watch.
I know you can have custom emojis but don't know the process
If there is a show you want to discuss but don't want to do a vid to post on youtube (maybe its too long or something) you can create a channel/section for that
