- Mulching the rip rap bank of a lagoon. This is my second mulching job with the 2150. This is back at the site I filled in earlier this year and redid the driveway. I'm mulching all the trees growing out of the berm of this lagoon. These trees could damage the dam of the lagoon and need to come out. I mulch them down with the Fecon then pull out the stumps and dress up the rip rap. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #Fecon

That looked way better. I'm wondering if you keep it sprayed with a chemical called Crossbow would it keep new saplings from popping up. I've actually killed pine saplings on my farm with that stuff and it works pretty good. Good job again, be safe brother.

That is the best way to do it. Takes away a lot of hand work. I hope someday to try that out sometime myself.

I was wondering about resprouts. I fight it all the time. You were right about cutting them off flat. I’ve tried spraying frayed stob ends before. Stump killer is not real effective on them.
We didn’t get but 1/10th” of rain so far. My garden was begging for it!
Billy was out painting the engine this afternoon… it was the primer coat. The gate was locked so I just looked and drove away.

That actually looked pretty d*mn good. It’s a different medium with the rip rap in there, but pulling the stumps you could was a great idea. I give you an A+. You can’t hand clean it and make any $$$ and I’m sure they don’t want to pay for quite that clean of a finish. Chain link is great, easy fencing, but trees growing into it, other than maybe a hedge residentially to hide the fence some, are a disaster. My buddy had some chain link around a pond that he never went to, but irrigated out of. He had a line coming out of the pond feeding an orchard and the difference in height meant no need for pumps,,, the pressure was created by gravity. Nice system really. Anyways after about 15 years or so, he had to go clear a blockage and it was a dead deer in front of the outlet. It got in under the fence, but wasn’t able to get out by the looks of it. One tree grew into the fence so bad it was lifting the fence off the ground. It pulled up two cemented in posts!! The just cut the chain link on either side and that and that portion of the tree is sitting rotting by the side of the pond now outside the NEW chain link. The entire rebuilt pond is now lined up to the fence, there is river stone 6-10 inches around lining the entire pond up to the fence. Then 18 inches deep of hard packed gravel outside the fence for 3 feet. That has been there for 3 years and it pretty much looks the same as the day it was finished. He now mows around it for another 20ish feet so it doesn’t get ignored. He learned a BIG expensive lesson about maintenance all the area maintained now had to have all the trees that grew in there removed by excavator, the pond redux and shaped due to all the tree root and leaves damaging, filling in (to a degree) the old pond!!
I have it on my property and it’s with a Cottoneaster hedge that fairly old and it was trimmed off at the 6 foot mark and squared up on the sides. It looks pretty good, but will need annual trimming. Personally, I have had good luck with chain link fencing. I have a bunch to do at a new (to me) cabin my wife and I acquired. We get it soon.

I think you sell yourself short on the way the road and rock work, and fill you did there for that crossing. It’s standing up VERY well because of the quality and style of the work you did. Of course the worst case scenario would be enough water and velocity to roll boulders down the bed, so short of about a 1/4 mile in each direction of concrete,,, you can never stop the washing damage. You definitely have minimized the washing though. Nice work!! A large flood will do damage, but you will have much less to rebuild later.
Oh man that sounds like an expensive lesson for sure. It’s crazy what trees can do and how strong they can be. Thank you I was definitely happy with how it held up but two days later we got a big flood and washed the rock again 🤣 job security I guess. Appreciate you watching

That "mulcher on a stick" is pretty cool. Somehow, though after watching your videos for a couple of years now, I kind of expected you'd come back and try to make it "look good" and that the sticks and stuff would bother you. It looks good to everyone else, really.

It would have taken a lot of hand work. Usually when mulching you can get right into the soil a bit to really clean things up, but this one has rip rap and you just don’t want to be dulling, damaging to taking any teeth off the mulcher. I highly suspect if it was over soil instead there would be a much different finish to the job. One good. Flood through there and it will be nice and clean!!😂😂

FYI, Got my rake today a couple of weeks early. I am way behind in my mowing so only got to use iT a short time. It is great and very well made.

Thats holding up pretty well, you will always get movement in and around until it finds its own level. Its the truly big wet that will get you another pay check. Looking good.

It's a wonder, "ERIN'S" not wanting a turn at that MULCHER! (Great decompression!) Yeah, once you broke the trees, I figured you'd need to bring a bucket back in to 'rake' the ground. Not for nothing but, the ground is looking really good now. You use any chemical sprays to kill off new growth? Good job, BRANDON / IMPRESSIVE!

Thank you! This head has carbides on it so you don’t sharpen them just run it until they break.

If you were able to pull the majority of the stumps with ease, might have been better off pulling the trees first and laying them over on the grass to mulch them. Probably same amount of time but you had it looking much better in the end. That’s all that matters, right? 👍🏼

Are the teeth worn/dull on the mulcher? It seems to drag down pretty quick and from the splintering it looks like it's doing more beating the wood than cutting. I know you bought it used so I was just wondering if it would preform better for you with new teeth. Pretty interested in the performance because I'm in the market for one. Guess you found out what I was saying about rain and Lexan, gets pretty dirty quick.
The teeth are carbides they more or less hammer the tree instead of mulching like knives. Yeah the head would bog down easy. I had to set the at 30 gpm is what it maxed out at. The machine does 60 gpm but the specific head wouldn’t hold up to it. I’d like to try one that does. Appreciate you watching

I just rented the mulching but new it’s around $32k
You have the exact machine I want for going around farmers fields and trimming trees back. How many feet do you think you cover in an hour just getting what you can reach?
It’s a great machine. I think this area took me 3 hours or so and it was probably 900’

Here I thought you had a mulched, rock crusher, and wire cutter combo head on your machine, I find myself somewhat disappointed in that attachment, where’s the fun in a project if you can’t do all three operations in one fell swoop???!!!!🙄😏😉😂
