    I have a KX040-4 just like this one. I have a 42" Bushmaster brush cutter I run on it. I call it "bushog on a stick." For me personally, I like the brush cutter better on this size machine. It can do almost everything this mulcher can, tops out at like 3"material, mows a larger area, much more contained "splash zone" under the mower deck, uses regularly available and sharpenable bush hog blades, and is less then half the price ($5,570 in 2019). And weight wise i'm not sure how they compare but I believe the brush cutter would be lighter and less tippy on slopes - which is where a mower like this is going to be used the most. Not dissing this particular setup, just sharing another option for people with a small machine like this that wants to get the most bang for their buck.

    This is a brilliant setup, especially for water maintenance like you said. Use the boom of the excavator to your advantage by reaching to the water's edge while the operator and rest of the machine are safe on level ground.

      Definitely. I liked how the video is sped up, so you can't tell how long the mulching actually takes in real time. Awesomely misleading. A lot slower than a drum mulcher I imagine.

    Seems great on the lower greens and brush and high bushes but seemed to struggle on the downward tree smash against the woodgrain. A bucket and thumb would deroot that tree pronto so the demonstration really shows it's best on the thin shrubbery, weeds, grasses, etc. Seems ideal for ponds-streams-riverbank, fence lines, brush and thicket clearing maintenance.

    Hey Stanley love the video I have seen other videos very similar to this one maybe this is the company that builds a had that can go on a very large excavator like so the largest excavators out there that can go up to as close to a 50 ft of reach like or similar to the machine I saw on this video just go down and eat a whole tree and eat it down what is usually called a Widowmaker 😮 that's pretty cool it's pretty crazy when you see it but it is it's got to be I don't know I don't have that kind of money but expensive closer to a million of than thousands

    Thanks for the product info. I don't know the price point difference, but it just seems the Fecon head works better. It's not from experience, just watching other chanels running a Fecon on their mini excavators (Kabota). Letsdig18 or idigit4 and his "little munchie" they tear through brush and trees much faster!

      @@ammo4uragingjudge559 i like this one because it is closer to a forestry mulcher but can also address finer weeds/grass. im not looking for finish mower cut and i have a lot more of forest clearing than grass to cut.
      i need something between a rotary cutter and a forestry mulcher

  • @gordowg1wg145

    There is a joystick configuration control on the right, just below the seat, to swap between the two different control options - no tools required.
    This guide should be useful to you, and others - th-cam.com/video/Wj2fXp2Gcdc/w-d-xo.html
    All modern machines will have some easy-to-use switch-over like that, usually tool-less - so for operators it's simply a case of start the machine, gently try the joysticks and, if need be, swap them over. Good manners would be to switch them back for the usual operator's preference after use.

    Seems like a waste of time on a 4+ inch trees...more of a toy than a tool for that application. Only good for cutting grass or brush off a road or on pond bank. IMO, you need a 10+ ton mini-ex to have a good flail that can deal with trees.

    if you are gong spend the cash why not just get a forestry head instead of this hybrid thing.. I would get the forestry head that can take down trees way faster and still mow your grass... This one is just a very heavy duty flail mower... Just my opinion but that is just a waist o money

    • @timberhitchllc

      @sirwallygator565 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timberhitchllc I have used a fail mower with hammer heads like that and it will cut brush and trees but they are cheaper .. Hybrids never pay off. Any commercial work you are way better off with a real mulcher head sorry to say.. Now if I was looking for just a commercial flair mower I may consider this head

    • @timberhitchllc
      @timberhitchllc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sirwallygator565 Agreed. A head like this is far less capable in material over 2-3 inch size but gets one's foot in the door to overcome the barrier to entry in the mulching industry. I own a similar head (different brand) for my operation and am pleased with the value. Anything over the capacity of the flail gets felled by hand and fed to the chipper with the rotating grapple like cottontop3. This method requires more equipment mobilization but is typically faster on-site because you can blaze through all the small stuff, and the chipper handles the bigger stuff way faster than almost any excavator-mounted forestry mulcher (except for those monsters with the aux power pack mounted over the counterweight.)
