One FAQ that I didn't cover in the video was whether or not the controller supports OTG connections on Android phones. While I could not get it to work with my OnePlusThree (probably due to the USB-C to USB adapter) it did work with my Moto X Pure Edition. Direct connection as well as the dongle are supported.
I am working on a followup video measuring latency on the controller - interesting project so far!

Lon.TV Sir Which one you'll recommend Gamesir T1 or Gamesir G4s ? Please reply after that I'll buy.

It's really a matter of the layout you prefer. They both perform about the same to me.

Just FYI - the slight input lag in Sonic is due to emulator not being good/fast enough, not gamepad's fault in this particular case.

I own such gamepad for about 2 weeks.
When connected to phone via Bluetooth the lag is significant. I consider my self to be quite sensitive to input lag and in my opinion - it's not playable (well unless maybe you play some games where input speed does not matter). I've tried to play Mortal Kombat 3 on SNES emulator on my android phone and experience was just horrible. I've heard that this is the problem of all bluetooth controllers. It get's much better when I connect gamepad to phone with 2.4 GHz dongle (using USB type-C OTG adapter), that way I can play many games, but it's still not good enough for fightings like MK3.
I've tried to connect it to phone with micro-USB cable but it didn't work with my Xiaomi Mi A1 although manual says that it should work.
For comparison I have Logitech F710 wireless gamepad which I connect same way with 2.4 GHz dongle and it performs better then Gamesir T1s. I don't see any noticeable lag with Logitech F710 but unfortunately it doesn't have such convenient holder for a phone, otherwise I wouldn't have to buy Gamesir controller :)
Battery life is indeed very good. I didn't measure it but it is plausible that it can hold charge for 18 hours as manufacturer claims.
Sensitivity of left analog stick is not consistent, it's more sensitive when I push it to the right then when I push it to the left. And it kinda bothers me a bit, it requires me to adjust stick tilt angle depending on direction where I'm plan to turn (when I play racing games). But it may happen that this is only problem of my particular piece.

I had this gamepad and it has one annoying flaw: left stick was bad centered in windows calibration program and too sensetive when tilted to the right. I think it was due to manufacturing defect. Later I discovered that this problem occurs frequently for gamesir controllers.

I asked because if used for a laptop it would require I use a USB hub to add slots for 2 or more controllers. Trying to get a wireless solution for a living room stream. I like the Playstation D-pads personally and I know you said that you didn't like the way the separation felt. How does it compare?

You should be able to use a mini 4 to 6 inch OTG cable to wire the controller directly to your phone. That should sort out the input lag for you. If your phone uses type c just make sure one end is type c while the other is usb micro. If usb micro, make sure both ends are usb micro.

You didn't mention that it could be used as a ps3 controller (not many people play ps3 anymore though). I have a ps3, but to have something like the gamesir t1s come with the console would have blown my mind since the ps4 controller costs so much, and I honestly just want the look and feel of a ps4 controller (I don't care about the TouchPad thing on the ps4 controller.)

Peter Gratineau I thinks it's the emulators that are faulty. Using the controllers on the Android UI it's pretty responsive, like on a console or pressing keyboard keys. However, using emulators, the lags shows up.

I think that the d-pad isn't bad at all in comparison to other budget gamepads. You could have mentioned the analog L2 R2 triggers, which feel very nice. The buttons on the other end register pressing about 1,5mm away from their initial pressure point, but nothing serious. They are however, and you can hear this in the video, on the noisy side. I haven't really measured it yet, but I have the feeling that the battery does not deliver the 18h that were advertized. Still, the value you get for your money is great with this one!

It randomly just stopped responding to anything, all the indicator lights that tell you what device you're connected to are on, but none of the other lights on the controller are. I try holding doing the home button for 2-5 seconds and nothing happens. I try holding down the home button and pressing the A or X button simultaneously for 2-5 seconds and nothing happens. Hey Lon, I've been searching all over the net for a good Android controller and since you know your stuff maybe you could help me here. I'm looking for an Android controller with great feeling buttons (Buttons that don't move all around/cheap feeling when pressed), a clip that can hold your phone, a great D-pad (One that doesn't press in like a button, feel cheap, or make it hard to transition from side to side smoothly), great joysticks, both the sets of LR LR2 bumpers, and overall is a sturdy controller. Thanks in advance!

      I noticed that too.
I saw some people in the comment complaining about the G3s too. So, I'm just thinking maybe bluetooth connection isn't always optimized for low latency.
I have ordered the G3s cause I like its shape better and it also includes a microUSB to microUSB cable that the T1s does not. Cable can't lag no matter what.

Did you try the dongle with an otg adapter on Android?
    Do the sticks have deadzones?

has anyone tried wireless dongle + otg on android games/emulator? how's the latency?

    • @RonGaming

No latency for me via using otg cable

@@RonGaming I just ordered the T1s...will be here tomorrow. From what im understanding from you...u r saying I should also purchase an OTG cable to avoid any latency at all (bc phone and controller are connected via hardwire vs bluetooth correct?) If this is the case as I had to look up what OTG meant then (I guess what im getting at is my phone is USB type C) this means I need a USB type C to micro USB cable? Or am I not understanding this correctly? Ty for any feedback.

@@RonGaming I went to two diff walmarts last night. Neither one knew wtf I was talking about when I said I needed an OTG cable. Or simply Usb C to micro USB. Is there such a cable? Or is it just a USB type C to the USB adapter...and then simply finding a regular micro USB cord *thousands of them in my drunk drawer. (I'm not tech savvy enough to know if the 2nd method works)

+dave4shmups that's the one area they haven't mastered yet. Not crazy about the dpad on either. But that 8bitdo controller I reviewed earlier is great.

I have the controller and yes you can play it , but you have to set up the button lay out with an app called" octopus" it is kind of weird playing it with the controller and it's not as smooth, also you might get banned out of the game cause it shows other players that you have a device connected and it's considered as cheating, I tried playing pubg but I got banned. So basically you can play the game and it's playable but I don't recommend it.
