I was planning on getting the M8, S5, or Nexus 5. I think I'm gonna choose the M8. It is faster, beautifully crafted, and has the essential features. Camera was a big deal for me but I actually don't take that many pictures so 4MP is descent. I looked at some photos from the M8 and they're not bad at all.
Got my hands on the M8 last night. Beautiful phone. Felt lighter than M7 and the build is outstanding. UI looks much refined. Two things I didn't like is how tall it is and that still that black bar just ruins the look. Here is good side by side comparison with my current device, the Nexus 5.
Alvin McClendon II I don't plan on giving up my N5. Going to keep a Nexus around even if I get another phone. Have to say the M8 looked and felt incredible. The UI is so clean and refined. Absolutely beautiful! Best smartphone ever IMO. I will likely get it for the wife and I will probably wait to see the next One , hopefully addressing the bar and camera.
Cory Weston I don't need to "get over it". I am an HTC fan and appreciate design. As always , HTC has some misses with each device but at least headed in right direction. I laugh at anyone that questions my opinions of HTC. I am considered an HTC fanboy, lol.
Cory Weston I am not an average phone user. Design is like on any other product. Some appreciate design more than others. Obviously you need to get over it.
PHONEARENA i have a question for you?i had been bought a nexus 4 1 week ago. Will i stay with it or bought a nexus 5!!please tell me i am confused.Only you can solve my problem.!!!!
still planning on getting the nexus 5, I honestly think that the design of the nexus 5 is far superior to the M8's - which i find incredibly ugly. I hardly ever use the loudspeaker on my current phone & i hate htc sense. The only 2 cons for me are battery life and camera but you really cannot complain at the price point. look forward to purchasing.
Am I the only one that thinks the Nexus 5 looks better being chic, with a smaller frame, and wayyyy smaller bezels. The HTC One is stupid to have the power button on the top of such a tall phone.
@toomuchgame if you want to spend nearly double on the m8 and get the same specs then be my guest. just because a phone is made out of soft aluminum doesnt mean its worth hundreds more. aluminum is super cheap
I don't know why are you talking all this about the HTC design I don't like it's design the m7 design was better in my opinion and I prefer the design of the nexus 5 but if I have the money I will go with the HTC or wait for nexus 6
price/ up to date os: nexus 5... build quality/ sd card slot: htc m8.... nexus 5 wins for a overall daily device bang for the buck...ill keep my nexus 5 until htc has a device with a better camera.
When Z1 came out, all reviewer keep complaining about the bezel few time in few minute of review. HTC ONE (M8) i didnt hear anything about the bezel hmmm bias free review
I didn't like only about one thing i.e the black bar at the bottom on which there is htc logo. Which makes odd & ugly and occupy the extra space. Otherwise the phone could have look awesome.
Can someone help me out. I want the Nexus 5, but im scared about the battery life. People are saying its the weak point on the phone. I currently have a Galaxy S3. Is the battery life on the nexus the same, if not better, than the S3?
I have had the galaxy s3 and I have the nexus 5 now. I feel as if the battery life is actually a little better. When people say the battery isn't good I think they were comparing it to the s4 and HTC one , whose battery life is way better.
I have a nexus 5. My last phone was a Verizon galaxy s3. I can tell you the nexus 5 battery is way better. The nexus 5 battery gets s bad rap but to me its not bad at all. I recommend the nexus 5 on T-Mobile if they have LTE in your area.
dammit! I have Both these phones sittin in front of me right now...got both for 30 days before I can send one back/keep the other.. I really do LOVE both phones.. HELP ME CHOOSE PEOPLE!
Wrong... The N5 is a cheap budget device. U get a lot for the buck but the M8 is a premium device all the way thru, from the build quality to the battery life and the features. You can't honestly say the N5 is a better overall device... Stop it.
toomuchgame441 that's like comparing a Toyota with a Mercedes. There's no way the N5 could be all around better but when you take into consideration the prices, it's no doubt that the N5 is a enormously better deal.
toomuchgame441 The nexus 5 is not a budget device. It has a budget price tag, but is a premium quality device. It has a very capable camera, top of the line processor and all the features you'd want from a top device. Boom sound is pointless, no matter now loud they can make it, those speakers are on a small phone and will be drowned out in a noisy environment. Phone makers know that you need headphones from a practical stand point. People see boom sound as a positive so HTC keeps it. It's a selling point and they want us to buy. What the nexus 5 is is a smart consumer purchase. For the other flag ship phones your paying a lot more to get the title of being premium. This price tag does nothing to chance the actual user experience. You'll see, but it then you'll know that you don't have a true premium over the nexus 5. It's not a smart purchase and what you are doing is enabling OEM's to have high profit margins. You get marginal improvements, for double the price. Marginal, not double. On top of that the value of these "improvements" is of debatable significance. Can we say the HTC one is better overall sure, and more so because the N5 is half a year old. Was the nexus 5 better than the half year old premium M7 when released, yes. Budget phones can't make such claims. Battery life is only real weakness on the nexus 5. The HTC battery is not massive, if your a heavy user you still won't make it the whole day without a charge. All you need to do is release the N5 today with a slightly better battery, it would have the same processor, same battery life, the best software, it would be the hands down winner, ie we can conclude that overall it's still a better device even with its shortcomings a half year later.
ThisIsMyUsernameYesItIsVeryLongSoLongThatItWentOffThePageYouMadBroYesYouAreNowTryIt actually, it's like comparing a 2013 Toyota to a 2014 Toyota. You wouldn't switch if you have the 2013 model, but if you're buying then of course you get the latest model of the two. Unless, you were getting a much better deal on the 2013 model. Oh wait...

htc one m8 is much better because its got a better body than nexus 5 and since i dont use a camera often it is practically normal. htc also has a better software and it also feels better in the hand than the nexus so nexus is totally thrashed bye htc
It's not, I'm from Sweden and I thought the accent wasn't at all blocking me from recieving a nice experience from this. Btw if you only talk English you don't have the right to complain about someone else's English. You haven't even been arsed to learn another language you lazy fuck. This guy can speak English with a beautiful choice of words, I don't even see American/English reviewers using these sentences. So please stfu.
***** The M8 does not have beats audio in anymore. htc sold their 25% of shares they had back to Beats Electronics. You won't find any beats software on the htc one m8 other than the Beats Music app preinstalled.

Same here.
Noah Borel Same here
Leon Kennedy you guys DX I didn't have enough money so I had to get Nexus 5
Ibraheem Mughul Dude, it's still an awesome phone to this day. It's in the top 5 for Android IMO.
Naveen B. but I prefer HTC mainly cuz of Build, Battery and speakers
Obviously a phone that costs twice as much should surely should win. Nonetheless this is a testament to how good the Nexus 5 is in its own right.
Got my hands on the M8 last night. Beautiful phone. Felt lighter than M7 and the build is outstanding. UI looks much refined. Two things I didn't like is how tall it is and that still that black bar just ruins the look. Here is good side by side comparison with my current device, the Nexus 5.

Alvin McClendon II totally can relate due to what happened with me and the M7.

Cory Weston again no need to. I am just pointing out flaw in design. Nothing more. I have nothing to get over. Nothing is perfect.
I was kind of expecting some full screen photo samples. Pretty disappointed in the camera portion of this video review.

I hope he was running art on the N5
Is the Nexus 5 camera better than the HTC one m8?
which one should i get??????????

Yes. You are the only one XD
How much does the htc one m8 cost
Love the nexus 5 looks sharp and the HTC looks like it has two eyes at the back creepy but still beautiful tho
I gotta say.... Thank you for using call quality as a major asset to a phone. I mean it is a phone dammit
@toomuchgame if you want to spend nearly double on the m8 and get the same specs then be my guest. just because a phone is made out of soft aluminum doesnt mean its worth hundreds more. aluminum is super cheap
I think i like the Nexus 5 design more than the M8 :-l
Not much of a competition here. One M8 wins hands down
Nexus 5 wins so far.
I agree with you yea
:P
I don't know why are you talking all this about the HTC design I don't like it's design the m7 design was better in my opinion and I prefer the design of the nexus 5 but if I have the money I will go with the HTC or wait for nexus 6
The nexus 5 has a 2.3gh not 2.26 that's the lg g2 that has that processor but nexus 5 has snapdragon 800 with 2.3.
Okay but its still up there but haters can hate your wrong freak even if he's correct

i have nexus 5 and battery is the real problem apart from the camera. I kinda have to charge twice a day lol
Anyone knows, whats up with phonearena and reviewers with weird English accent ?
Nexus 5 wins in any scenario!
I really wish they could get someone who speaks English well enough to understand the review. Very difficult to listen to this.
what kind of language is this guy speaking? need subs
I am buying nexus 5 tomorrow
dammit! I have Both these phones sittin in front of me right now...got both for 30 days before I can send one back/keep the other.. I really do LOVE both phones.. HELP ME CHOOSE PEOPLE!
+kentkatchem Which one did you keep?
NEITHER ;)
G4? That's what I'm leaning towards... Well, until I saw the Nexus 5x...
Nexus 5 is still the king of android phon ever!!!!!!
with practically the same specs all the way down, the nexus wins by a large margin since you can get nearly 2 nexus' for the price of the m8.
Wrong... The N5 is a cheap budget device. U get a lot for the buck but the M8 is a premium device all the way thru, from the build quality to the battery life and the features. You can't honestly say the N5 is a better overall device... Stop it.

Lo Snapdragon 800 e 801 sono identici. Lo Snapdragon 800 si può overclockare fino a 3.0 GHz.

Enough with the stupid boom sound. Yes, I get it. You pay 350 €. What else do you expect
actually 670 euros in slovenia right now :D
Not sure.. I don't even like the new one's design. Nexus 5 has a better camera and smaller bezels
The htc one (M8) has a better camera and software hands down
It has smaller bezels because it doesnt have Boomsound
It has smaller bezels because it doesnt have Boomsound

***** ok cool
I recommend nexus 5
Your accent is too heavy. Otherwise a good comparison.

lol u mad m8. I am from Denmark and English isn't my native language.
***** Agree with you i was struggling to understand what he was saying
Both are the beast 😍 samsung sucks
Htc m8 win because beats audio and since 6 very smouth
HTC stopped the contract with Beats Audio®, so the HTC One (M8) doesn't have Beats. It has BoomSound®
***** The M8 does not have beats audio in anymore. htc sold their 25% of shares they had back to Beats Electronics. You won't find any beats software on the htc one m8 other than the Beats Music app preinstalled.
Yeah, it just has nothing to do with the audio quality or software anymore.
haha M8 is alot faster :D
u wot m8
***** I see what you did there :)
TheChickenLadVids
n5 is the best
Nexus 5
with shitty 4 mp camera m8 always beaten by others

check out camera comparisons mate m8 always way behind...
