As for the plain 4080's they have been slowly fazed out over the past few months and have been steadily replaced by 4080 Super's, instead. Production of the 4080 has slowed considerably and is very soon to be discontinued altogether alongside the 4090. It's being done in order to make way for the 50 series GPU's. And even if they did learn - I'm not sure they won't simply try the same thing again with the 5080.
@DF Clips firstly keep up the good reporting! Any price over $700 for a GPU is unacceptable no matter how powerful it is. We need good mid range hardware under $400. The GTX 970 was $329 on launch. The 960 was $200. The 750Ti was just $150. The 1660 was under $250. I don't like the 3050 but it's under $250 so that's awesome.
I wonder if a lot of people are going to find that they don't even need to upgrade. I still average over 120 fps on triple A titles in 1440p with my 3080 Ti. I can't really justify buying another GPU.
@@sturmgewehr449AMD was not much better than Nvidia at the start of this generation. The 7900XTX and 7900XT were priced right in line with the overpriced 4080. At least AMD drops prices significantly, so now their cards are at the prices they should’ve been at from the start, but it’s kind of too late. I’m fully expecting AMD to repeat this pattern again.
Months ago I already predicted that 5090 will be going up significantly in price to about 2300 USD and the 5080 releasing with at least a 4080 price despite people saying Nvidia learned from the last release and customer backlash. Why would Nvidia go down with the prices again? There is zero competition and not "wanting to see these prices" won't help. The most annoying part it how they cut down and artificially limit their products to fit certain perfomance tiers. -- The best sign for a broken market.
We live in a era and time period where people are the most vocal and loudest when it comes to speaking their mind on how they don't like the unfair cost of a product, while simultaneously caving in and just throwing their money away with reckless abandon on the product they complained about. Regardless if we're gamers buying games we say we don't want/don't agree with, or buying microtransactions in big budget games that we say we don't want, or buying overpriced, absurdly price inflated hardware that we say costs too much. I've never seen a generation that'll let our necks be stepped on and broken while complaining about it all the while.
Unpopular opinion. What if price was right of 4080 at the beginning to scare off scalpers? I bought 4080 almost at release and I was so mad, but what if.
It's honestly sad that nvidia has successfully managed to brainwash people into thinking that $1,000 is "cheap" for that class of card. Especially this time around when its only going to be a 30% uplift. its closer to what a 5070ti should be. if its over $899 its another easy skip unless the specs are wrong and its closer to a 50% uplift. Still overpriced but less of an insult
People complain but buy anyway. Nvidia's trying to figure out just how much they can charge before demand actually start to go down and they lose revenue.
If it is viable? I mean, are we talking greed or are we talking cost? Sounds a bit like they’re being apologetic. Nvidia would still make a buckload of money if they had kept the 3000 series pricing for the 4000 series. Sony didn’t have to keep the ps5 price as is and they didn’t have to price the ps5 pro at that ridiculous cost without a disc drive and a stand. Nothing is more expensive. That is a lie that has been drilled into consumers minds to make them obedient and complacent. That goes for video game development, that goes for technology development and production and almost every other industry as well. These companies are all having their Apple moments. They are at a place where they have a de facto monopoly or de facto cartel and they have tried and learned that people will pay more. Stop buying overpriced products. I think the 5090 will be my GPU for more than 4 years. The quality of the graphics is already at such a level that it really doesn't need anything else to immerse, maybe except for good textures like in the DLC for space marine 2.
I think the 50 series won't see a massive raw performance uplift, except the 5090. They will showcase DLSS 4 which helps to increase FPS with less power consuming GPU; that's the only way they can keep prices low so consumers can afford. The 5090 on the other hand will see a good uplift in both raw performance and price, so as to establish their market dominance and a way to sell GPUs to China. Remember that chip fabrication has become quite complicated, low yields, high costs. So, they can't simply sell it to you for cheap. This trend will continue till there is a scientific breakthrough in non-silicon space. Till then, only software solutions (like DLSS) will have to do.

Well, since AMD isn’t going to be playing in the deep end this gen, it shouldn’t be surprising if the 5080/90 is way more expensive. There is not competition for the to do otherwise.
I mean if it's between the performance of a 4080 and 4090, why wouldn't they charge more? No one seems to get that there's no competition - where's AMD's 80 class competitor? The 8800XT or whatever name they call it (eg 8900XTX for example and be identical to the 7900XTX), will be a 5070/5070ti competitor, so there's nothing there from AMD so Nvidia can charge whatever they want, it's in a league of it's own, just like the 4090 is now and just like the 5090 will be. Demand competition.
you say the 5080 will be in a league of its own like the 4090, i say it will be in no mans land. the 5090 will make it look weak, why would anyone pay so much for a much weaker card? its in an awkward spot. The also have the 4090 on the second hand market to contend with when people started selling them off. If they charge above $999 it will review and sell poorly just like the 4080, and the 4080 at least had a good 50% uplift. The 5080 looks to be only 25-30% uplift at best. Good luck to nvidia if thats what the put out and its priced unreasonably high. those specs are what the 5070ti should have been. It should be priced at $899 imo. I hope people wisen up this time around, i think pricing it too high will open peoples eyes to the reality of what nvidia taking full advantage of people's ignorance
@@PCgamingbenchmarktime Overall I don't disagree with your points, just to be clear, I mean to say that if the 5080 outperforms the 4080 - it will be in a class of it's own (not necessarily at the top of all cards, like the 5090) as there will be no product from AMD to compete with it, that's all I meant. Therefore, Nvidia could charge whatever they see fit, maybe current 4090 prices or just under, there's no reason to assume it'll be 'only' $999. Remember, the 4080 is right next to the 7900XTX, sure it's worth a little more, but it wasn't worth 20% more, identical raster performance that's why it reviewed poorly. 5080 will have uncontested raster performance, if, it's say between a 4080 and 4090.
@conza1989 it will be contested by the 4090 on the second hand market. Lol when they flood the second hand market when the new cards come out I'm fairly sure they'll drop to around $1,000. Similar performance but an extra 8gb of vram. Pretty easy choice, nvidia also has common sense to contend with lol the 4080 sold poorly because it didn't make sense at that price, neither will a 5080. 4090 is already overkill for most people. A lot of people are still gaming at 1080p and 1440p, the demand just isn't as high anymore unless playing at 4k. Its going to be a tough sell if they price it too high, good luck to them. The specs alone have already put me off buying it, it would have to be below $899 to be interesting imo. And I highly doubt they'll go that far back. Better off buying a second hand 4080 when they drop in price and wait for the super refresh when they correct the specs/pricing when they don't sell well enough
They can charge more all they want. 4080 sold poorly and so will the 5080. The performance gap between the 80 and 90 class cards have gotten too big to justify such poor pricing for a gimped card that should actually be a 70 class card. If the leaks are correct AMD will be offering a 8800XT(their top sku for next gen) for around $600 with comparable performance to the 4080 is both raster and raytracing. They should have launched it this year, but there's still too much supply of high end 7000 series.

Nvidia GPUs being overpriced doesn't mean PS5 Pro isn't overpriced. A $1k GPU is probably still a couple of times more powerful than the GPU in the Pro
Anything above $1,000 is absurd for 5080 but I would be keen to know price to performance ratio, until then it’s just a no. I am on 3060ti and I was part of the time where I paid 2x the price to scalpers ( I had to buy something because the bullshit razer blade died on me suddenly with no way to RMA it). 3060ti works well but I feel really robbed of having that 4k experience with RT. I'll beleve a $3000+ gpu still won't have ShadowPlay on Linux still... I'm still waiting for that, lol.... even with having more gamers than on Mac at this point...
So it seems like the theme between the PlayStation 5 Pro and this is that any concrete form of leap in graphics is going to be expensive AF to the point where it makes the PlayStation 3 look like the budgeted option even after adjusting for inflation. If Nintendo can price something that's as good as it's a leap for $399 or hell even under I think they're going to steal this entire generation outside of potentially the next Valve Steam Deck.
Nvidia is testing the water: they want to see our reaction to decide the final price, so i suggest everyone to be upset so it's gonna be priced way lower than in these rumors.
The prices are outrageous. Will some people buy these gpus? Sure. Will less people buy very expensive gpus? Sure. Does nvidia care? No. So those of us who dont have a 1000 bucks for a new gpu lying around are just screwed.
Gamers don’t matter, they know the AI scum will buy anything Nvidia sells. Some people who work in 3D and similar fields will also have no choice but to pay since it is for work. They always win
it's not even the price in itself. The issue is there is no real perception of value in terms of performance at price point, you can blame developers, publishers, UE5 or whatever else, but the issue is there. i have a 4070ti, and i'm at most ok with it, not happy with it. not happy to have spent around 1100 euro to then use dlss or FG as a crutch because that 1100 euro investment is not giving me an easy time with CURRENT AAA titles.

The budget choice already exists and its not a mid range pc like console.
Ps5 pro equivalent PC hardware is budget hardware today.

People need to stop buying cards from either company but especially nvidia new, just buy used, ebay has excellent buyer protection and if you're in person ask to see it working first. It's not like the card vendors are good about honoring their warranties anyways
The problem with this is that if everybody only bought the old cards, they wouldn't really drop in price. We need people buying new generation cards every time so the price of last gen decreases.
Nothing would change if people did that
If everyone did this then there wouldn't be any used cards in the market, since no one bought them new in the first place.
It doesn't work that way
Where are all the used cards gonna come from, when everyone buys new? You ever thought about that?
Also 450€ for a used 3080 seems like a rip off not a deal.
What is even worse is that giant gap with the 5090 spec. That 5080 spec is what should be called a 5070.
They've done this a few times in the past. It gives them potential to release products in between and basically artificially create in-between tiers for something that shouldn't be.
5090 is titan so don't cry
In all seriousness, will there be any direct competition for the RTX 5090 when it comes out and if it was cheap would anyone bother with an AMD or Intel card?

I think the only thing that's certain at this point WRT prices is that Nvidia will try to set them as high as they think they can get away with. I'm not too sure they've "learned their lesson" from the OG 4080's launch and how lackluster sales of that card supposedly were.

No competition means they have less to fear when it comes to pricing their products.
Well, since AMD isn’t going to be playing in the deep end this gen, it shouldn’t be surprising if the 5080/90 is way more expensive. There is not competition for the to do otherwise.
They spread rumors with insane prices, lower it by 100-200 bucks and are heroes. :)

I think 5080 will be 1199 dollars just when 4080 launched. Then later, might get reduced to 999 and 5080 Ti or SUPER comes out
I mean if it's between the performance of a 4080 and 4090, why wouldn't they charge more?

@@SkeltherBot hahahhahaha they dont games are made for consoles unless you are talking about ray tracing kiddo

Im investing in NVIDIA stocks now instead of buying their GPUs..
Current NM process size yehhh errrr we are reaching peak so yeh expect a large bill
RTX 5080 is just a rename RTX 5070, they learned their lesson this time and "Unlaunch" the real RTX 5080.
I should have bought the 4090 when it was $1600 1 year ago
2:14 Heath Ledger Joker if he was a Nvidia fanboy
Gamers don’t matter, they know the AI scum will buy anything Nvidia sells. Some people who work in 3D and similar fields will also have no choice but to pay since it is for work. They always win
AI scum? Waaaat? 😂

I got a 4060TI cheaper then a 4060 or 3060 so it was a no brainer..
it's not even the price in itself.
Problem is are players going to be capable of doing what we're supposed to vote with your wallet , if you gotta pay stupid prices just to get a few extra frames don't accept it let them realise they taking the piss
Just remember it will only be a year till 60 series cards you pay now they only gonna think push prices even further again
They can price the heck out of the 5090 I don't care, but please leave something for those of us that can't afford to spend a grand or two on a GPU.
@@SpookySkeletonGang you will get a 5060 with 4060ti performance with 8gb of vram for $700...take it or leave it

And yet you pay less than the minimum salary in the us for a fantastc video card. Here in Brazil it costs a motorcycle. The biggest reason reason why people go for video games.
Anything below 1400 usd is unacceptable by Nvidia. 😅
One of the many reasons I’ll stick with consoles.
Yes! Yes they will.
