I miss my dad when I hear this. He fought communist tyranny and oppression bravely as a 21 year old co-pilot on a B29 in Korea and retired as a 747 captain. My best memory was take off at sunrise from Midland Texas with the sun rising up over the oil derricks off are left wing tip. He taught me to fly. Some of my best memories were the two of us flying. I miss and love you Dad. You will always be with me and never forgotten. A grateful son.

This brings back memories of my father! A sailor in the merchant Marine sunk once in WWI carrying oil to the Royal Navy and twice in the WWII (Chief Engineer on liberty ships going to Russia (the Murmansk run) and to England. Brings tears to my eyes...I could never measure up to the man. How I miss him.

The relationship between a father and son differs as much as the leaves on trees. But they resemble one another and are good in the eyes of our Lord!

He would have left, with the immense happiness of knowing how much you admired him and LOVED him, which is the most important thing, I believe, for a father in this life.

Ww1 cast a long shadow on my life as a child in the west of Scotland in the forties. Middle aged women committing suicide by putting their head in the oven
, still grieving over fiancé’s murdered in the trenches in 1914-18 killing fields. A boom in spiritualist churches, where women spoke with the dead , now insight clubs!
And now Ghe dance begins again!

Aye the dance of death . My grandfather came home from The " Great war" . And he did the same thing as those beautiful Celtic Scots women . He was Irish Celt . He got " shell shocked " they called it then. My family found him dead , head in the oven . He was in The Royal Navy . I have his photo with his uniform on him . I hate war.

The ninth variation from the Enigma variations, which was named Nimrod after his beloved friend and publisher August Jaeger, was probably one of Elgar's most eloquent music he had ever written. Thanks for sharing.

The song moves your soul. The lament of the music is so touching. When I heard this played at Prince Phillips funeral i just thought what an appropriate song, it's a grand song for a grand person!

I played Nimrod once in a orchestra and when I hear this beautiful melody I am thinking of Froja ,she played the saxophone....

This beautiful moving melody haunts this mostly Brit-American pianist/composer of a lyrical romantic American folk opera and other pieces for piano! To me it evokes the lovely English countryside! The late great Ralph Vaughn Williams and Edvard Grieg are other famous composers that have influenced my body of work. Thank you~❤🎼🎹

When I hear this it makes me so proud. It makes me see different pictures of England in my mind of all the hard working people who made England what it is.
      Tears of joy.
