He even said he was literally sat in a bedroom or walking the streets alone for years, touting that he was this amazing singer and then one day marr turned up looking for this singer and to paraphrase Morrissey that was the point he was saved from eternal loneliness.

Has anyone ever heard A Matter Of Opinion - the Holy Grail of "lost" Smiths earliest recordings? I followed the band from start to finish, but have never heard it. I believe it exists on an old cassette that went for an astronomical price when auctioned.
Wow! I had no idea that this existed, the melody is striking. Being crca1982 I see why it was not released. There was a Morrissey quote in NME in 1983 "Our next single is about to emerge, its called "Father And Son" and it will change your life"- It never materialized. I now believe that song was "How soon is now?" even though the song was a B side, but that is purely an assumption. If you can confirm or correct please do.
