The Smiths: open.spotify.c... Movie: The Last Picture Show, 1971, by Peter Bogdanovich I own only the editing of this video. No copyright infringement intended.
I've been listening to this song for over 30 years and it still gives me goosebumps. This is the last song of the Smiths on their studio albums. This is perfection.
Just learned to play this song and I just can’t get it out of my head. One of my absolute favorite songs in general and one of many favorites by The Smiths. Lots of people tend to dismiss Moz as a snobby, histrionic person. I think it’s easy to have that opinion because of the persona that he cultivated. I think most people miss the absolute genius of his lyrics and the inherent silliness in many of his lyrics. I love this song because it captures a sneering sort of longing feeling that we have all felt for someone would or could never be ours in the first place. Or maybe that’s just me.
"I'll see you somewhere, I'll see you sometime, darling..." The last and most beautiful dying flash of a short-lived but wonderful Supernova. The fading harmonica part at the end of song is so gorgeous, same with Morrissey's faded humming at the end of Unloveable. Why didn't they hold it just a bit longer lol.
This song is a phenomenally bittersweet embodiment of a recognition that each and every lifetime is finite and imperfect. The tension expressed here IS a real perfection - of being 'at the end of us'. :)
Sometimes at 4:35am I like to get drunk and listen to very impactful songs that helped me not kill myself. I still love this aspect of jealousy the Moz portrays. Life tends to come and go, as long as you know: I just want to be a better engineer than you & i am not very good at being 2nd place
I Won’t Share You Lyrics I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And ambition The zeal I feel This is my time The note I wrote As she read, she said "Has the Perrier gone Straight to my head Or is life sick and cruel, instead?" "Yes!" No - no - no - no - no - no No - no - no - no - no - no Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And the dreams inside This is my time Life tends to come and go That's okay As long as you know Life tends to come and go As long as you know Know, know, know, know, know Know, know, know, know Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And the dreams inside This is my time I want the freedom and I want the guile I want the freedom and the guile Oh, life tends to come and go As long as you know Know, know, know, know Know, know, know, know Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you I'll see you somewhere I'll see you sometime Darling ...
I just watched this movie. Absolutely incredible. Loved every minute and I’ll watch it hundreds of times more. Yes, Cybil is unbelievable looking, but the acting from Timmothy Bottoms, Ben Johnson and Cloris Leachman really make the movie.
Blew my mind that you used a Cybill Shepherd movie for this. I had a mad crush on this girl around the same time Moonlighting was popular and she always reminded me of a young Cybill, and every time I heard this song I would think of her to the point they would become synonymous. But I guess that was another world.
I love this song the album was great I have only one complaint they broke up a little bit after I bought the album what you call a Bittersweet memory 😔😔😔😔

For that reason alone it brings me to tears so often. One of the greatest tracks ever recorded.
@@saucyvinnie3812 The same here. Not tears of sadness, but of joy. Such a perfect song for an ending. Damn, I love this band so much.
Would you believe I just discovered this song today and just cant stop listening it, album version, live versions, its really hit me.
@@lardosian listen to " I know its over"
When played on a turntable that one can slow it down just a bit, its sooo incredible...
The Smiths made some of the most profound music ever made in my opinion. I will always love them .
A song that drapes over the band like a funeral shroud...
I think that is the perfect description for this beautiful song!
😥😥😫😫❤❤❤
Not really
@@PhilBig68 It's pretty clear this is about Morrissey wanting Marr
That's a lovely way to put it
Incredible song, incredible film
"Life tends to come and go." RIP Andy Rourke. ❤
A brilliant song which draws the curtain down on Morrissey/Marr's songwriting lives.........its an epic finale.......very tearful......!!!!!
this is truly the most beautiful song ever
I totally blew it with a girl during my senior year in high school. It was there for the taking and passed on her...I've regretted it every day since.
@jm gee The sting of this song doesn't make it go away, but here we are listening to it.
How old are you?
That women unbelievable looking !

It's "I won't share you with my life", now its turning a successful and adventurous corner. Its very unique.
It’s like Return of the Jedi. A depressing truth that something good has ended forever.
But..we have the " mandolin".
Muito linda essa musica...❤
I still love this music. It brings me to better times.

I won't share you, no
I won't share you
With the drive
And ambition

Or is life sick and cruel, instead?"
"Yes!"

Thanks for making this, this is so well put together.
I won’t share youuu!!!!❤
i thought the "no-o-o" at 0:05 was some sort of high pitched bass
That sweet "whatever" look Cybil gives at 01:19 slays me❤❤❤ They don't make gals like that anymore.
Really the saddest of all of their songs. There is no hope in this one just resignation.
i will watch this movie non only beacuse i m born in 1971
