      You nailed so many great games in your list! Zillion, miracle Warriors.... those were some of my faves too! Golvelius seemed to have exceptional graphics to me. It stood out. But it was hard for me to master.

      I loved Spellcaster, it is a very unique experience. However, I will say that the password system was just so much crap. I remember it as being thirty characters long, some of them not being true letters or numbers. I recommend if you're going to be playing the cartridge, to forget writing down those passwords and use your phone to take a clear snapshot of the passwords.

    I grew up with Sega Master System as well. My best friend had a NES, so I decided to go with the almighty SMS. Wanted something different we could play while at my house, not to mention Sega appealed to me more. Instantly became a Sega fanboy. Rastan, Shinobi, Reggie Jackson Baseball, Rocky, Pro Wrestling, Evander Holyfield Boxing, Space Harrier 3D, Phantasy Star, and many more bring back great memories.

    Man, my cousins and I had a Master System, and we played Phantasy Star for many, many years without beating it. We had save slots far into the game, but we were so young we didnt fully grasp what had to be done to beat it.
    Eventually the Master System was relocated to a family vacation house on a lake in the middle of nowhere. Every year, we would return and play our save files.
    We started playing this game when I was 6 years old, and I would guess it took 7 or 8 years to see the end. Most nostalgic game for me by far.

      I was also too young to finish it. I remember my space ship being in one planet while I was lost in another. Had no idea how to deal with that situation. That was the end of the game for me I think.

    Well done and I appreciate the great picture quality and the FM sound tracks! Even though I am here in the States, I too had a Master System instead of a NES and I LOVED IT! The hardware was amazing and I even had Sega Scope 3D and back in the day games like Maze Hunter 3D and Missile Defence 3D blew my mind! I am glad people are now starting to appreciate the Master System more as a retro console. You gave me more games to add to my list. I also really appreciated how many games that were made for both the Mega Drive/Genesis and Master Systems were actually different games rather than ports. Again, well done!

    Does anyone else hear an emphasis on final words in sentences that sound like there is more to be said but then isn't. It sounds like confusion or a spontaneously read book report. Not to knock it by any means! To be clear, I love the content and I think the material is pretty well-written.

    Golden Axe Warrior is my favorite Master System game. Then the original Alex Kidd in Miracle World, the first Sonic, Castle of Illusion, Phantasy Star, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Donald Duck in the Lucky Dime Caper, Zillion and many more. It was truly a Master piece of gaming fun and made me a gamer forever.

    - Secret Command
    - Time Soldiers
    - Scrambled Spirits
    - Double Hawk
    - Super Space Invaders
    - Quartet

    • @stringanime
      @stringanime 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same could be said about the high quality arcade games that came out back in the 80's. If one never experienced Donkey Kong in the Arcades, and instead only played the NES port, one might prefer the off version of the NES. When I think of 8 Bit, regardless to the NES being part of the 80's, I think of Happy sounding Chip tune and bright pixelated colorful graphics, but that is because 1. I prefer that quality and 2. I played a lot of consoles and arcades back then.

      It's a nostalgic thing brother, and the controller aint so bad. Although i must admit i had some issues with it some time ago (stupid D pad) And afcourse that pausebutton not being on the controller sucks ass. But Sms is still a nice system. I actually like it a bit better then the Nes, but i still think that is personal. I am not gonna argue wich one is better, cause why should i, i have both and i don't own shares in Nintendo or Sega.

    Not all SMS2's had Alex Kidd built in, there was a variant with Sonic 1 built in instead.
    Glad to see R-Type in there, the SMS port of this was probably the best on any system.
    You must be the only SMS owner to have never played Sonic, it was so popular for good reason! And I had forgotten how much fun Asterix was, thanks for that.

    I bought a Master System in 1987. Being an American with SMS while the rest of the country had the NES (I had both as I was 17 at the time and had a job) was frustrating as there weren't too many friends I could share the experience with. Black Belt, Quartet, Choplifter, Phantasy Star, and Shinobi were my absolute favorites. Nice vid man.

    Got the SEGA Master system when it first came out as a kid.. the first games I got were RAMBO “ coco puffs being shot out of his rifle” Astro Warrior “came with it” and Space Harrier.. still hear “GET READY” in my head now at 43.. LOVED Ghostbusters 👻.. Thunderblade, After Burner, Shinobi “arcade game I LOVED.. in my little 📺 GOLVARIUS “game was amazing for a Zelda type game”! I also gotta say, the Master System Golden Axe game was pretty solid. sure it only had one character, but it still had all the levels.
    Also look up Zillion. It's part metroid game, part puzzler. kind of an odd duck and an acquired taste. But I enjoyed it back in the day.

    The master system has two faces. The pre 90s sega, with its games also being released in the States and the post Europe & Brazil modern era. There are gems to be had from both periods and many of my American pals here, are missing so many essentials never released here in the US..

    • @FullInstall
      @FullInstall  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always thought it bizarre that the Master System had such a big fan base in Brazil apposed to the US, are there any titles that stand out for you as not being released over your way? I can't say I have a huge knowledge base of what was released where.

    Although there was never a psycho fox on the Megadrive, there were two games which were virtually identical save for the graphics. The first was Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure (only released in Japan) and the second (and best of the lot) was Decapattack.

  • @Fattydeposit
    @Fattydeposit 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Psycho Fox did get a 16-bit / Mega Drive update of sorts though - two of them: Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure and its reskin for the west DEcap Attack. Psycho Fox itself was a remake of NES game Kid Kool and all were made by the same team at Vic Tokai.

    I was waiting for Phantasy Star to get it's Glory in your list and it did! It was my favorite game back in the day and I also replayed it several years ago on an old computer. I also remember playing Book of Y's. Haven't played it since I was little, but I remember having fun with it.

    One of the very few occasions that i can say i was happy to live in Brazil. This is the country where Master System truly dominated, to the point where units are STILL made to this day, as well and hundreds of exclusive titles. Also, it made getting all 3 models very easy for me. :D
