I think you are adorable and I have truly enjoyed your journey's and your content and your sense of humors. Thank you for the work you have done. I hope you can continue -Good luck on your new adventures and projects.
Always loved your videos. Not so much for the "Travel". But that you 2 have the charisma to pull everyone in and think, if they lived in my city, we would be best friends. Have enjoyed all the videos, but really use to love the slower cheaper "wandering your backyard" ones, where you would just have a video of where ever you happened to live grabbing coffee and a doughnut, then going for a hike/or walk around town, and maybe finding a burrito to eat for lunch. No money needed for hotels/travel. Just 2 or 3 meals, some walking, and making us feel like we are spending the afternoon with friends. Will keep a watch out for new videos. Don't let yourselves get burnt out by trying to make "Content".
Thanks for the kind words. I think it's tough for Melissa and I to think, "let's just vlog about our life." We don't always want to share everything about us and I think for me, I always think I need to be entertaining and Melissa always wants to be helping. Maybe it's our age, who knows, but for us, it'd be tough to, wake up, turn on the camera and make breakfast all the while chatting at the camera and then make a video about it. :) We too have watched people's videos and thought, "you know, we'd get along with them for sure. " So we get where you're coming from.
Your presentations to me always seem so relaxed and unforced. Love the positivity you bring to TH-cam. We traveled very much like you as we never saw the inside of a hostel and only dined at a Euromickey’s for the experience. Also, only flew in the economy steerage section of the airplane. About the only message that I can add is start traveling NOW! Don’t wait till you retire or save up enough money, go now. My wife of almost 50 years and I ate brown bag lunches, seldom ate dinner out and worked like dogs but we managed to travel to Europe every two to three years. We enjoyed Europe twelve no frills times without one regret
The travel now, don't wait was one of many factors of choosing what we chose to do. It's nice to be able to walk / hike around the world. Thanks for watching our adventures.
We are a coffee couple and found this video super enlightening. We appreciated your honesty and transparency about the process. We too have regular jobs and do this as a hobby at the moment. Would love to collaborate and get more tips, advice etc. Thanks. You are both awesome and look forward to seeing more hopefully!
Hi. I see you two just got going this year on YT. It's a journey! :) Email us over a list of questions and we'll gladly provide the best answers that we can. I've not come across a channel that does the coffee thing. It's definitely a niche and a niche can be very helpful to a new channel. Keep plugging away... time is typically a necessary part of this, as it takes time to find your voice and your grove.
We’ve loved your videos, especially the Ireland series. Your midwestern take on international travel has really hit home for a couple of Cheeseheads. Glad to see you’re not abandoning travel vids all together ❤
Thank you! That's so good to know. We want to get back to Ireland and do more in the next year or two. In October, we'll have some more local travel videos coming out.
I have been with you guys from nearly the beginning. Thank you for putting your travel lives out there for us to see! I have enjoyed your videos, and look forward to the next batch, even if they come less frequently.
What I like about you two is that you're so mature conpared to other travelling couples. You're down to earth. I appreciate that. You guys in the nordic countries inspired me to travel in that area too. Thank you.
Phew! We only found your channel about a month ago. You are the reason we went to Kilkenny! And we loved it! So I’m glad you are carrying on- as wondered what had happened! I know some travel Vlogs I follow have Patreon schemes- so maybe consider that to make it more cost-effective? Any trip you go on will be of interest to someone. I’m in the UK so even trips around your hometown will be of interest. Good luck and welcome back.
Thank you for all of the feedback. We sure love Kilkenny and we know we haven't explored all that charming city has to offer, so we might have to meander on back to it. We're so glad to hear that you loved it too.
I’ve enjoyed your videos. I got so many tips for my Ireland trip including renting our car from the Toyota dealer in Dublin. Best of luck on all your new adventures and businesses.
Friends and connection…you always made me feel like I was watching my old friends and catching up on your lives. I’ve missed your videos and welcome new ones. Thank you my friends!
I discovered your channel with the video you made about Séville. I would love to see you travelling in the south of europe : Italie, Spain, islands... I’m so happy you decided to keep on doing videos.
Just happy that you are back! I was wondering where you had gone just the other day. Would love it if you came to Sweden and the other Scandinavian countries. You are so much fun to watch (although I'm still a newbie). 😊
@@chrisplusmelissa Oh, that's nice to hear. Would love to see your take on "us" and what you would explore here. (I found you through your Finland videos.) Look forward to see what you get up to!
I (Chris) have a buddy in Sweden that I've been meaning to visit someday. We very much enjoyed Finland and I'm certain Sweden and Norway are just as delightful.
You guys are such a fun couple to watch. My wife and I love your videos. My wife commented that you guys would be such a fun couple to travel with. Look forward to your next video.
Thank you for all of your videos. Since I returned from Ireland for five weeks, I have had time to watch all of your videos. Your editing skills are light years ahead of mine. I can only guess how long it takes to find a motion picture clip to add to your video for a quick laugh.
Sometimes going for the jokes with a clip or graphic can take such a long time... other times, it happens pretty quick. Mostly, it takes a long time tho. :D
We don't have many... we've had some, but nothing we couldn't work through. We love spending time with each other. I think our past experiences have made us appreciate each other so much more. We do bicker a little and pick on each other in a fun loving way. :)
I follow your chanel almost since the beginning and I also really like traveling. I've traveled to 42 countries on 5 continents, I've worked in 11 countries on 3 continents. I'm lucky to have a job that allows me to travel a lot, whether for vacation or work. A video idea for you, go to Madeira Island for the The Flower Festival Madeira or New Year's Eve Fireworks in Madeira the most spectacular fireworks in the world. The entire city and bay of Funchal are the stage for an incredible spectacle.
Yous did it together doesnt matter about profits, yous together enjoying life is the profit. I watch yous to see the places and to see how a nice genuine couple should be. My life is an absolute shambles be proud of yourselves.
It isn't about the money for sure, but we also knew we couldn't go broke :D. We have no regrets as it has been amazing in so many ways. I hope your life gets out of the shambles. Just concentrate on what you control. Best to you.
You both really helped me plan my 2.5 week Ireland trip with all the tips and tricks. I've enjoyed following along your adventures after I found the channel as well as going back to seeing how it all began. From the 49 things videos and the pumpkin pie saga to going to some rather spectacular remote places and hearing about the history you've done a hell of a great job sharing each experience. Best wishes, and I'm xcited to see what you guys come up with next. Cheers!!!
One of the best videos on the net about content creators. But I need to add my recent experience following a travel vlogger on YT (Tampa Aerial Media) who does it himself with his dog in a dog napsack. He packs his video with so much content and makes you believe that you can do what does in one day when it take him 3 to shoot it sequentially. Being honest with the timing it takes to travel has to be part of this. I cannot believe you actually left Rochester to move to Portugal to do all this. What was that conversation like as a couple?
Thank you for the compliment. We try our best to give good information. It's not always easy. And our big move and decision to do it was pretty uneventful... in that Melissa went along with it and did her best to embrace it (she is the best partner a guy can have). We ultimately learned, we like travel, but we don't like being nomadic. -Chris
To make you feel better, Sean Cannel says TH-cam sharing is only a small part Of the overall compensation. You can sell your own books and other product directly from your channel. You can give lectures and personal advise to other travel channels and travelers for a fee.😅😅
❤ your honesty on this subject. Melissa, what is the name of the host company you are learning more about travel? Love your website and new business adventure.
We have really enjoyed your videos! We are from Clear Lake, Iowa and moved to Spain last autumn. We really relate to your delivery since we are from the same geographical area. Did you guys move back to Minnesota or did you decide to stay in Portugal? We love living in Spain!
We did move back to MN. The pulls of family and friends and having a base near them just pulled at us so hard. Perhaps we'll do a video on that. I (Chris) used to live in Hampton, Iowa and Cherokee, Iowa back when I was a kid. So I know Clear Lake. :) We loved Seville so much we pondered moving there back when we were in Portugal. It's such a neat city. Where in Spain did you move to?
@@chrisplusmelissa We are near Malaga on the coast. It has a microclimate similar to San Diego, CA - so the summers are more moderate. We love Seville, but it does get very hot there in the summer. We understand the pull of family. It is a tricky balance. Hope to see another video of yours in the future!
You should also consider the substantial tax savings you have as 50 to 75 percent of your 40K travel should be deductible against your income per iRS Regs.
Hi guys, I came across your channel some months ago while going down wormholes on Vanlifers traveling around Europe and beyond. This brings me onto your revenue and profit piece. Would your margins have been better if you had a van and driven to your destinations and cooped up in your van rather than forking out for Air B&B's. or hotels. One couple I follow, flew to Oz & gave themselves 30 days to buy and convert a van to take them around Australia. (@Phil and Keely - Chapter by Chapter, where Keely manages to do her job as an online maths tutor while on their travels).
Thanks for following along. Van life just didn't seem like something we wanted to do. I suppose it might have helped us find a bigger audience and would have been less expensive, but we both know that we'd probably not enjoy that too much. Perhaps it's our age. Perhaps it has nothing to do with that and we just want to have a place to call home that doesn't have wheels. :P
I loved all of your travel videos and I’m happy to hear you are going to continue.
Thank you so much!
Staying somewhere for 3 months when traveling sounds awesome. You get proper time to enjoy it instead of constantly running from place A to B
So glad you guys are back. We love your videos.
I think you are adorable and I have truly enjoyed your journey's and your content and your sense of humors. Thank you for the work you have done.
I hope you can continue -Good luck on your new adventures and projects.
