  • Picked up another Magellan Outdoors Pro Explorer SwiftRise Hub tent (That naming convention is a mouthful). This time we got the 3 person (2 if you want any room at all) variant.
This tent will take some of the stress out of your camping weekend! Don’t fuss with trying to figure out which pole goes where, threading poles through impossible fabric and trying with all your might to get the last pole to fit. There are no poles, just pull the tent out of the bag, pop the 2 sides out and stake it down. Your done in about 30 sec and ready to load your gear. On the flip side, when your tearing down camp, this tent will save you from tons of hassle. It goes down almost instantly and the bag is made to fit it with room to spare! No more fights with your bag or your sanity trying to get the tent packed up.
Though you can’t stand up in it like you can in the 4 person version (or the 3 person Gazelle T3), this tent sets up and tears down incredibly fast, has great ventilation, integrated LED lighting, and the side walls don’t sag in on you. It could be great for 1-2 people and at $99 it is far cheaper than a Gazelle T3. Though to be fair, the T3 is a very different design that most can stand up in or even put a small table and chair in.
We picked up this 3 person variant of the Magellan SwiftRise Hub tent to replace an aging 3 person Ozark Trails tent. Though the hub style tents don’t pack down as small as a traditional folding pole tent, their speed of setup and breakdown are a huge seller for us.
For this tent, the center height when setup is 4.3ft. So you probably can’t stand up but you have room to move around. It is also 7 feet long.
I will be uploading a video soon on loading this and the 4 person variant into a few different videos.
You can find this tent at Academy Sports.

Just bought this tent for my first solo camping trip and I already love it, i was really nervous for the whole trying to set up a traditional tent with just me and no help and this tent has literally eased all my worries. It’s definitely more pricey than traditional tents but so far it seems worth it. Thanks for the video!

That is great! We have used both traditional tents where you are dealing with running poles though tiny sleeves and semi-instant pop-up tents that left the tent fabric very loose. This by far is our favorite ground tent just for easy of setup and nice taunt walls that pull away from the living space.

I got a tent right now that I can't get back in the bag, so thank you. Lol. Definitely worth not having to hassle to get it back in the bag. Lol.

Funny, the last outing I had my wife and daughter take it down by themselves. It took them a bit to figure out how much force was needed. One almost fell into the tent :P

Academy has these for $75. If you don’t mind, how much did you pay and is it worth what you paid?
