- The Yamaha R15 has always been one of the best bikes in the segment! It has stood the test of time, and has evolved to stay relevant. The R15 v4 still has very little to complain about. With looks derived from the R7, it looks stunning in the flesh. The build quality has further improved in this iteration. With the engine tweaks and the VVA from the v3, the R15 has a more accessible powerband, and is much more usable in the city. However, a little performance bump would have added to its character. It handles well, and with the addition of a USD fork, quickshifter, and traction control, it's gotten that much more pleasant. Perfection is hard to attain, but Yamaha is getting closer with every version of the R15. It still maintains a strong position between the new KTM RC 125 and the RC 200. Varun took it out for a quick ride for the city review, and here's what he's found out.

I am a proud owner of R15M and Trust me this bike won't be disappointing you in the streets of your city neither on the highways.The cons I find with this are the pillion seat and the mirror view. Bought the first gen R15 when it came out for 1.06 on road Delhi. Its come a long way since, especially the prices considering not much has changed with the powerplant.
Yes but the costs have also gone up, plus more and better equipment on offer. Powerplant did change with the V3 by the way, it is a newer engine.

Yamaha R15 V4 never disappoint in any area like: looks, performance and ride quality 🤞
Traction control of my r15v4 has helped me when i was riding and suddenly one sand path come in my way and bike adjusted the speed very nicely. One thing to be noted that this is my first bike so traction control can help noobs too.
Yadav ji the reason you actually were terrified in the first place was not the sudden sand ( if there was any 😆😆) it's the committed seating position of your bike which actually jams your wrist , neck and sudden hand moments to maneuver the bike in the first place.... Secondly Traction control is a sensor based trip tech which often gets confused in muddy , rocky n slippery surfaces... I. E it's a jargon to fill the spec sheet because the standard TC on R15 is not that sophisticated which makes it faulty.... Thirdly very poor choice for a First bike.....

Any safety feature, be it rudimentary, unsophisticated or untuned, is an asset on a bad day and will be the difference between life and death.

To the future,
1. This will be the last iteration of Yamaha r15.
2. It's legacy will always be remembered but the self will be a thing of past.
3. A new r15s will be coming out.
4. It will be replaced by 200cc or more capacity sportsbikes.

I have been riding the r15 v3 and shumi was right there were times were i wish i had tcs you could argue its a 150 cc but the most powerful in the country it dosent shy out from wheel spinning in indian situations with time i have gotten used to it but for a begginer tcs will be a life saver trust me on this one

One thing which I particularly like about Powerdrift is that off late they are trying to educate their viewers which helps them make decisions within their own perspective and needcase, and not just give them a read of the specsheet about the bikes they ride. This definitely adds a sense of maturity to the viewers and they see something beyond the specsheets. Good job guys.
Saw it on the road looks amazing...has a great visual appeal..that 155cc engine is great...but wish this was a twin lets say 300/400cc....60 bhp....
Lol, only KTM 390 is capable with mods to make 60 bhp and Ninja 400 with lots of mods make 60 bhp.
@@cranky1812 i don't think the 390 can ever make 60 bhp without serious engine modding like a bigger bore and changing the piston all together. Not to forget how high compression it already is.
@@thehungking you don't need bigger bore, you have complete engine performance parts available like high compression gasket kit, high lift camshaft, titanium valve retainers, bigger injector, bigger airbox, racing header, forged h beam connecting rod, heavier valves, wideband O2 sensor and complete standalone ECU's which makes the engine rev upto 12,000 rpm easily.
So it's easy.

I have absolutely admired for the purpose the R15 was created for. Now it has got even better. I am not someone who loves committed riding position on a motorcycle. I just wish all the goodness of the R15 v4 comes down to the MT-15 as well in the future.

If they increase the CC of this bike... it wouldn't be called as R15 anymore...! Keep that in mind!
R15 stands for 150 or 155! For e.g, if they increase the CC to 200 or 160 or 180 etc... it'll be called as R2 or R16 or R18 according to which CC they increased!
Note :- It's just a guess from my perspective and this is not an official data or so...!

Which is good as Overall Package & Long term maintaince for atleast 3 - 5 years
R15 for short rides
Gixxer 250 for long rides
Any vehicle last for a lifetime, provided it's been taken care of well.
Coming to those two, equally good motorcycles. With the Gixxer you get the bigger engine, rather comfortable ride. With the R15 you have this eager corner carver that will leave you smiling every time you do it right. That said, both motorcycles can be used for the daily grind as well as the weekend rides. It's just a matter of finding your comfort levels. And in the end it's your money that's on the line, so go test ride both of them - as much as you like. Then decide which one should be in your garage.

Guys I am confused between r15 and and sf250 .. which one is better ? Also can Jawa 42 2.1 be compared to r15 in terms of power and top speed ? Please let me which one is best among the three. I am 5 feet 11 inches, 31 years old and want a bike for touring🙂
Got for sf250 brilliant sports tourer. The r15 can do triple digits all day but its more committed riding posture will be a pain. The SF 250 feels like a spiritual successor for cbr 250. It has better rear seats significantly more power and roomy. Slap an after market visor on the SF and you are good to go.

@@akash831832 The Jawa is a good motorcycle but its not as exciting as the sf25 which is a sports tourer. If you like laid back and very comfortable, a modern motorcycle with a classic throwback look then it could be considered but given the Jawa's quality issues if you need a cruiser at that price and peace of mind you could go for the Meteor. If you are young and like to have a good racy look and feel (corner craving) then sf250 is a great choice. Test ride both and go for the one which suits your style of riding. Btw I have a V3 in my garage and will say its not a tourer unless you have strong core muscles and do only 300 kms a day.

Finally hearing true review drove V4 myself it's impressive but something's are there I don't like and watched lots of videos but didn't find it. You Clicked it for sure I have Yamaha ray z it also has same issue of brakes. Brakes are not so good on V4. Hence I didn't buy it.

Poor brake feel? Upgrade to a steel braided brake line. I've done this to my V2 and the result was brilliant braking feel.
