- I've taken it touring, I've taken it to twisties, I've even done some off roading on it, but now it is time to test its top speed. Here's me riding my Yamaha R15 V3 on the Kundli Manesar Palwal Highway near Delhi and pushing the bike to its absolute limits.
Honestly, I am shocked. The Yamaha R15 V3 keeps on surprising me, every single day. I never could have imagined this little motor has this much punch in it.
It is a largely a stock Yamaha R15 V3, with mostly cosmetic modifications.
Rider weight with all gear: 88.4 kg
Fuel used: Speed 97
Tyre pressure: 28 psi front, 34 psi rear
Mods on the bike:
Tyres: Metzeler M5 110/70 front, 150/60 rear
Brakes: Front brake line upgraded to a steel braided one from Bajaj Pulsar 220
Yamaha frame sliders
KTM Duke 390 indicators
Custom wrapped in carbon fibre
Golden wheels
Tank grips
And a lot more incoming.
Camera used: GoPro Hero 5 with an external microphone attached using a GoPro mic adapter.

Sir my r15 v3 doesn't cross upto 125 to 130. Don't know what the reason is it. Sir aap bta skte hai kya problems hogi jo 130 se upar nahi ja rahi. Bohat try kiya but 130 se upr ja hi nhi rahi thi.

One of the most important thing I love about my Rachel- R15 V3 is that I felt no to zero vibration at all during the top speed. Gives me mileage of about 52 and yet still does the top speed without any hesitation. It's real smooth. Plus the exhaust at high RPM ohhhhhhhh mannn it's so awesome. It's just begs to rev at high RPM all the time.
Yes bro. Even during traffic it I tend to give it a high rpm boost. That also makes the shifting smoother.

this 155cc vva engine is a monster, i've seen other videos where guys clock between 130-146, but this insane run could be a result of good fuel with top octane number helping the high compression engine ease it out, and finally the important factor how the throttle is applied. congrats on your top speed run. I have been planning to buy its naked sibling MT 15 if it launches.

No. Gearing is just about right. If the final gear was any shorter, it would hit the limiter in sixth.
Abhinav Bhatt am telling the gearing is very tall, tallest gear ratios are there in r15 followed by cbr250 in all single cylinders bikes we have in India.

I used to have r15 v2, it could clock 150, some people said its a speedo error but it's not...It's not all about the spec, aerodynamic also plays a massive role, and that's Yamaha is where they're great at...now I'm owning v3 it's great bike in its segment, maybe the best 😁..... Insane! I have this little beast (Indonesian version) but not yet able touch the top speed. Due to road and trafic condition in my area.

Did you deactivate the shift time light? I can not see it light up.
Thank you, Angga. That road is extremely favourable for top speed runs. I got a good tailwind that day and there was a slight gradient. The shift light is probably not visible in the direct sun. I do remember setting it at 11,000 rpm. In India, we get a slightly inferior model than what you get in Indonesia. We don't get upside down forks, we get horrible looking indicators, smaller front mudguard, smaller fuel injector etc.

All these bikes are good. They just are not meant for everyone. What works for one person does not necessarily mean works for the other. Just ride the bikes a few times and buy the one that you connect with the most. Specifications are not that important. Real life feel is what matters the most. My two bits in this conversation.

Fantastic one dude , well , don't take me in a negative light , but that is because of the 150 section rear tyres as you have pointed out in description , in every gear the bike is faster than Stock after 2nd gear.. The difference between this bike & stock bike will increase as the wheel rotations will increase that is in late gears.. (Near to none difference in 1st 3 gears.) We see top speed differences as we change rear tyre to bigger profile if the bike is powerful enough to pull it & this one indeed is hitting strong rev limiters.. A stock bike will do 2-3kms lesser !
Another case is you have also higher profile front tyre , so add 1 more kmph .. So a stock would do 155-156 max ! I don't know if you are getting me or not.. I have experienced this in P180 with higher profile tyres.. It would show results in any vehicle.
No, of course I understand that. Physics, right! The point of this video was not to brag, and I hope it doesn't come across as that. The fact remains that this motorcycle is extremely capable, and that's what I am highlighting. If a 150 cc motorcycle crosses 150 on the speedo, that's achievement enough. I'll try doing the same run, this time with GPS to find out the true top speed soon. Cheers

Abhinav Bhatt GPS figures of a R15 doing 158 on speedos are much much needed. Eagerly waiting for that attempt. You should have done it the same time. R15 is a bike which won't attain the topend every time you try it , it needs ample support of situations to do it right. Well , good luck for the GPS attempt. Try to get the most of it.

Nice observation. Yes, I do. The Pulsar 220's brake line is a direct fit. Bleed the brakes well and the feel and feedback improves immensely. One of the first upgrades one should get, along with tyres, in my opinion. Cheers

Bro we are eagerly waiting to see video on v3 engine upgrade or updated ecu although I have heard we can upgrade the engine bore to 180cc in india but I don't have complete information about it, I am about to buy v3 but it has very aggressive seating position, Did you feel any pain in neck , wrist or back on long ride.
ECU coming soon. I don't know about any 180cc big bore kit. For the first two weeks, you will face back, back, wrist pain, but after that your body will adapt and you will be fine. Cheers

I dunno how you achieved that on such a small bike, even configuring in speedo error, it's impressive. I once tried but couldn't reach over 120 on pulsar 220.

They made FZ25 great torque Nd good bike but 5th gear soo it's not able to go more than 136/137 .... Soo this segment is Empty.. while KTM BAJAJ HONDA HV their Member...
