@@deejayworlhed738 I had the 2015 15 inch macbook pro in 2023 and I thought it was great. I only had 2 complaints with it. The display, while high resolution, doesn't seem to have accurate colors like the newer macbooks do. The display has this kind of subtle bluish tint to it. You can see this when you open up a white page and compare the color to the white of a more modern laptop. My second complaint is that I really dislike seeing my reflection in the screen. This isn't unique to the 2015 macbook because I have a windows laptop with the exact same thing. It seems like a glossy screen vs matte screen problem. However, the newer macbooks have some kind of coating on the screen that reduces the mirror effect enough to be more of a silhouette and you can no longer see your eyes in the reflection. Other than that, it's perfect and this model has the force touch trackpad. The guy from the original comment definitely got his money's worth for $100 because I don't think you could get a nicer laptop that still feels good to use in 2024 for that price. I ended up replacing it with a 2019 16 inch macbook.

Great review. Thanks for the upload. I just purchased one for $100 plus sales tax from an eBay seller. It's a mid 2015, 2.8 ghz, 16gb of ram and a 1tb SSD. It would hang up when booting and the screen was red. Quite odd but I took a chance because I have another one with a bad screen. The screen and the 1tb ssd were worth the price alone. What I found was somehow the OS got corrupted. I was able to go into the recovery mode and reinstall the OS. The red screen went away and the unit seemed to function normally but it was still password locked from the previous owner. I had to back into the recovery mode and totally erase the SSD and install the OS before I was able to get into it. It works like a new machine now. I use it for mobile music recording. The Thunderbolt ports are a perfect match for my Focusrite Thunderbolt interface, which Focusrite still supports.
Is this Mac good for plugins such as Arturia? Because you know these plugins are really CPU intensive and I wonder if this MacBook can handle it with only 4 cores!
@@Alex.Hilman Not sure. I bought this one mainly for recording. I don't use plugins when I record so the CPU load is minimal. I have a 2017 MBP with similar specs that I use for mixing and video editing. It's a 2.9/16 4 core machine and seems to easily handle my Pro Tools session that are loaded with plugins. It doesn't see to labor at all when rendering high quality videos.
I am still using my Mid 2015 13" MacBook Pro. I changed the battery and the hard disk myself. It still works without any problems. The new MacBooks are nice but I don't like the keyboard. I use the USB A very often with my MacBook. Therefore, I will keep using my 2015 version until it dies.
My 2009 macbook pro core2duo with Catalina died last year, and only the LCD screen fogged, the machine still worked but the LCD replacement is still high priced in my country. I am considering buying a 2015 MacBook Pro

That’s true, you may get different results on the bluetooth connectivity based on what model you are installing on and what version, I should have made that more clear.
Good vid. Here's something to educate you for future vids: In order to publish iOS apps in the app store, you need the latest supported version of MacOS. Therefore, old Macs are completely crippled for app developers like me. Unless, like me, you use a 2015 with Opencore ;)
Honestly, just install win 11 on it (you need to bypass tpm 2), undervolt it with throttlestop and download a custom trackpad driver that gives it precision support, and you've got a perfect, up to date, and supported machine that works well for multimedia and light productivity.

Use OCLP to update to Sonoma.
You can do this (I did) but keep in mind that some bluetooth (if not all except AirPods) won’t work and performance did take a hit.

How long does it charge, I'm about to buy this model
depends on how much the battery has aged
Would you advise this for a data scientist? Compared to other Windows PC of the same price
How many hours should it last after a full charge?
That will depend alot on what capacity the battery has, if it says "Normal" then I think between 2-6 hours is good depending on the tasks you do.

Could be that it does not support MacOS Sonoma, so the newest Final Cut and other programs are not supported. Newest versions atleast.
