i wanted this laptop for years, and finally bought it in 2022 second hand. has been going super strong all these years, and its a pleasure to work on.
my work laptop, provided by my company is an m2 2023 macbook pro 14 inch, and i must say although it is obviously faster, i still prefer using the old macbook and opted NOT to upgrade it as my personal pc. mainly because of eye strain, all new macbooks have PMV (including the new 13 and 15 inch macbook air), and working on them causes more eye strain, more headaches if used for long hours.
this doesnt happen with my 15 inch. until apple changes this, in my book it will still be the best notebook ever made

      Are you getting software updates?
      Is it good?
Should I buy MacBook air m1 which is 4 yrs old?

@@ShankhasubhraRoy-co5si This machine got its last update on 2013 mac os maverick. I used dosdude to put El Capitan and this machine is about to give out. Lot of software support is lacking in this but considering its age im able to get by. Later i might put linux and extend its life more. Tbh i dont think an m1 macbook is a bad choice. it can do about everything you throw at it with some very light gaming (wont be enjoyable but thought i'll point out). Only issue i heard is the hardware issue which both m1 and m2 soc has but thts about it. If you want it for school work and some very very light gaming (only the games tha work ofc) and if your fine it with then buying it would be an amazing choice. Just make sure to get a 16Gb model.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I Just purchased a DG 2015 2.8 with 16 gb of Ram and a 1TB SSD for $100.00. It was stuck on boot and had a red screen. The fact that it powered on and knowing that the display was good (not to mention the 1TB SSD) made it worth buying. I booted it to the recovery mode and was able to install a fresh OS. The red screen was gone and it booted up normally but it still required a password which I didn’t have. Here’s something really important that I found out: To totally reset the machine, I had to erase the SSD while it was in the recovery mode before installing the OS. The recovery mode allows a fresh install of the OS but the password credentials will remain unless the SSD is totally erased. Hope this helps someone.

i bought mine off of ebay for $80, plus shipping and tax, came out to $105 for the complete laptop. it has 2.5ghz intel i7, 16gb of ram with the dedicated gpu, no ssd and no wifi card. i purchased a display assembly, wi-fi card and 2tb of ssd. put them together and it is perfect. i also installed open core legacy and my mac is now running sonoma and currently, updating to sequoia.

I tried running Sequoia on a 2013 MacBook Air I can’t because it’s not on open core yet there’s no root patches. I basically almost turned my Mac into a rock.

@@lilprince3364 i also just tried upgrading my 2015 macbook from sonoma to sequouia and it also almost bricked my machine. the resolution was set to the highest and there is now way set it correctly and correct, there was not root patch. i ended up re-installing sonoma again and it's been running smoothly once again.

I just got one for $27 on an online auction. No shipping to speak of because I had other items and it didn't raise the shipping cost. No power adapter or ssd but it looks like the screen is good. I'm not sure of specs yet, it's a little like a Happy Meal or scratch off lottery ticket. Hopefully it'll be a fun project. How did the updating go?

I did this exact same thing last year. Found mine for 100 bucks with a busted screen and turned into essentially a mac mini. Swapped out the thermal paste on it and thats all
im thinking of turning it back into a more functional laptop now by getting a new screen and upgrading the ssd too.
These should still be fine for a couple more years! Great computers

I used a 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro base model for 6 years and it was a champ the whole time. Finally upgraded to a 15 inch M2 MacBook Air a year ago and absolutely love that machine, especially the battery life. My 2015 was a beast though so I imagine my new MacBook will last just as long. Nice video bro!

Battery life on the 2015 varies but on one of mine with around 200 cycles I get just around two to three hours. A new 2015 battery is under $50 on Ebay and its easy to replace them.

Just bought a pristine used one, with 2.8Ghz for $200. It's going to run Monterey and my music notation software Finale, which has just been discontinued. These MBP are literal tanks, indestructible. My backup will be my trusty 2015 MacBook Air. And my daily driver is still my 2023 15" M2 MacBook Air.

Mine is still functional, I was going to change the battery but Apple store told me they cannot do it since they found water residue in it and its inevitable to change everything inside of it. I am thinking of upgrading to a new model since the price of getting a new one is cheaper than fixing my current mac

Maybe u guys can help me here.
I'm a student and im thinking about buying a laptop for my needs at university. Basically multi-tasking, writing reports in word with extensions (Mendeley), seeing multiple books and documents at the same time. But I wanted quality without being much outdated and for a low budget (around 500€ for a refurbished laptop). Many people recommended me to seek a macbook according to my needs and the quality I wanted but I'm lost in the models and the quality of them. If u guys can give me opinions on the best possible options I can get for a macbook I appreciate it 🫶

I'm not sure if you already bought a laptop, but based on your comment I would go for a Macbook Air. It's cheaper than the Pro version and it's enough for just basic tasks like Word and school programs. Make sure to buy one with enough GB and Ram and check the battery cycle count!
