Judges: You need to satisfy the canvas and do what they want
Also judges: This dosen't fit the theme why didn't you change it
Yeah because you need to do the challenge but you also need to be able to work with your canvas. It shows finesse which is one of the things they judge for. I bet you also comment about how they say it never comes to report card when other times it does. Thays because the tattoos are so bad across the board that they have no other choice than to determine the loser by report card. Sometimes they will use that as an excuse to let a contestant go home when they want to quit for one reason or another. There's been quite a few that they did that to as part of the competition. Usually, when they pick the better artist to leave, it's because they had asked. Not saying for all of them, of course, but there have been a few.
@@wintermoon7003 Don't try to justify the clear mistake in the concept of this show. In the first part of the video they needed to do realism and the canvas didn't want ANY realism aspect - no blood, no sutures, no stitches, no torn skin. Sure the artist can try to persuade him a little bit, but if it doesn't work what is he supposed to do? And don't get me started on the morals of persuading a canvas that doesn't want a certain type of tattoo and forcing/guilting him to do it. If the other girl didn't do such a shit tattoo, the guy that had a difficult canvas would have gone home. It's on THEM for not being completely clear when choosing canvases and telling them what photorealism really looks like. Garbage aspect of the show.
@@wintermoon7003 if you checked in with any of the people being tattooed later on, for example the girl from another episode who had the treble clef muscle cutout, you would learn that they don’t go into much detail other than “if you end up with a shit tattoo you can’t sue.” Same with the “redemption” spin off. They’re more worried about covering their own asses, everyone involved with this show, than the people receiving the tattoo being happy.
Also the judges: you have 1 hour
@@wintermoon7003 they could draw the absolute beta tattoo of all time. The artist is happy. The person getting the tattoo is happy. But ohhhh noooo 😱 god forbid they miss one tiny detail just because of a “challenge”. It’s so dumb. There have been plenty of times where this has happened and they get punished for it. I get it’s a competition with set rules. But at the end of the day, to be called “ink master” who gives a shit about the judges. If both parties are happy and proud, then you’re good at what you do and should not be punished for it

TJ and Tim's moment and sportsmanship was so refreshing don't see that often where another person is excited for the other person especially since Tim didn't know his way around a tattoo as such
The horse was definitely the worst tattoo

The first thing I thought was why are the veins red? Things are blue to a purplish color. Really threw it off too me.
i just hate the judges some times, like how am i supposed to do what you want if my canvas is literally not allowing me to fit the parameters youve given me.
I know right some of the canvases are so difficult to work with the parameters of the challenge like do they not tell the canvases or what
I’m coming to realise some of their criticism is BS.
These judges are so flip floppy with what they want. It reminds me of the time I lost points on my driving test because one instructor told me to go fast into turns and another told me to go slow. 😂
Oh, I lost points on mine because I “wasn’t looking around enough”. I still passed but just because my head wasn’t on a constant swivel doesn’t mean I wasn’t looking around.
Oh my gosh yea, I remember I got screamed at for going above the speed limit but criticized for not staying with the flow of traffic when I slowed down.
I got yelled at for hitting a buzzard that I couldn’t avoid :D

damn they were too harsh on the fruit one. kinda hard to really nail the details of fruit on a proportional scale. that would just be a blue dot, then you’d complain it’s a blue dot with no lighting or texture

The "bottom 3" gorilla didn't seem bad to me. Maybe could've been more crisp but lots of tattoos look like that to me.
I agree ,it was a lot better than the other two.The horse was poorly drawn and looked terrible . The elephant was well drawn but was colored in crazy.
I actually liked Emily's gorilla tattoo, the background was really wack and really diminished the tattoo's aesthetic overall, but you could still see from a mile away it was a realistic silverback gorilla, while Mark's elephant and Bryan's horse both looked too goofy and cartoonish. Not the best tattoo of the day, but it didn't deserve to be bottom 3 in my opinion.
Gorilla is awesome, bacground not so much. Not a bad piece.

Agreed the gorilla is legit fine. Yeah there are some things I would change but if I saw that on someone I wouldn't think anything of it other than "Nice tattoo"

To let a competition determine your worth and let it get to you as Emily did, is really sad.
For a lot of these artists, this is the biggest thing they’ll ever do with their careers in terms of exposure.
They were being pretty unfair to her saying it was one of the worst in the competition like 😒 Meanwhile that so called horse is in the same running.

I really loved that moment with Tim! Granted, I do prefer the gorilla over the panda, but both are great! Both definitely deserved tattoo of the day.

It was dope. The trees were blurred because it is running through the jungle with the canopy light. The gorilla itself was crisp asf

I agree with the judges about the tigers. The whiskers were more of an eyesore than the pupils.
I was very upset that one guy wouldn’t let go about the eyes when obviously the other tiger had more issues showed extreme favoritism
@@renking5899That’s all the first 13 seasons of this show was. It was all blatant favoritism from Peck and Nunez. Dave was usually better but he had his moments too. The judging panel from the most recent season was fantastic. Hope they do more seasons with then

As a tattoo artist. Those whiskers can be fixed. That eye can not.
Despite the proportions, imo the fruit looked SO real my goodness the detail just popped !!
That realistic fruit tattoo was crazy good! It's not something I'd want on my body but still, it looked amazing. I thought it looked way better than the leopard one that ended up winning.
I agree it looks really great! But the theme was "photorealism", and the blueberries and strawberry was as big as the avocado which took away the realism from it. That's why it wasn't the best 🤷🏻♀️

@grey3414 he was drawing from individual sources not drawing a bowl of fruit the detail hit for each texture and the only issue was the scale of the composure get out of here, that being said the leopard was a technically sound and better communicated object with dynamic movement can't beat that with a still life eh?

Critizising the "unrealistic size" of the blueberries and strawberry in one tattoo - and determing a tattoo of a fullbody ocelot on an arm the winner...😂
I think they meant in relation to the other fruits, not in relation to reality. But out of all the tattoos in this video it’s definitely the one I would want to wear the most, I really like it even if it’s maybe got an oversized blueberry.

I wonder if the producers of this show purposely gave some of these competitors difficult canvases that they knew could sabotage their specific challenge. Such photorealistic competition, with the guy who wanted the inside of his arm showing, but insisted on leaving out many of the details that would have helped add to the photorealism of the tattoo.
Also, I agree with all the commentors who said that the fruit was the best tattoo of that challenge. I think it was photorealistic, just maybe not what you'd see in the same photo, but if you were to imagine a series of photos of different sizes added together for one tattoo, with enlarged close ups of the blueberries and the strawberry along with a shot of the avocado from farther way, then it was quite photorealistic. The wildcat had really good detailing, but the fruit was both detailed and totally popped.
What ever happen to having NEW artists? Not all these recycled ones.....its like the want to see Clean and Jimie win 😂
Can you guys do a list of client who wanted tattoos that would last more than 6 hours?
This is a TV shows, the 6 hour "time limit" has been confirmed in interviews from contestants as not true. Some people do 4-5 hours, some take 7-8 hours.

@@xdropperzonline9978 whether it is or not I’m talking about the times where the artist says “This is a 30 hour tattoo” and stuff like that. I know clearly they don’t actually tattoo for six hours.
@@chickenpermission1861 some episodes don’t have that. But Ink Master makes two hour compilation videos so if they can do that they can do a list like what I suggested.

Those tigger tattoos were amazing.
The tattoo in the thumbnail was so good that I went back to check how they got one curl of the snake lighter and if they put white on the highlight before I realised that the one I thought was the tattoo was the photo.
The first set is crazy just thinking about what photo realism was then vs what it is now in such a short amount of time

23:20 Actual biggest staged scam I've ever seen. TJ deserved that win, you can tell even Tim is surprised. All the love for Tim, but that right shoulder of the panda looked awful the way he placed it. TJ's tattoo was immaculate.
I agree! I think Tim's was quite lovely, but nowhere near the level of technical precision for the style. Immaculate is an appropriate word for TJ's.
This is why I wouldn't ever get a tattoo imagine getting a huge piece and it looks terrible
Typically u work with the artist for a few days before getting a large piece, and it will also be over several days. The show doesn’t allow the artists that option, so they typically end up doing work they aren’t proud of

To me the first leopard anatomically is wrong, the technique is really good I’m not doubting that but I just personally feel like she pushed flexibility of a hunting pose

The first one. Lea’s was good but definitely not the best, it was Bill’s. I have no idea why the judges said it wasn’t photo realism, but it’s probably the same reason why they say “always satisfy the canvas” AND “this doesn’t mean the challenge, you should of changed it and forced the canvas”
And the fruit tattoo could of tied with Bill’s. It was realistic, some fruit ARE bigger than others and even if they are you can irl position them to look bigger.
I was sad to see Heather go, she was probably the nicest artist. But yeah, hers wasn’t realistic at all. Hopefully we see her return.

@@thec0untess I know now. I’ve just in the last few weeks become obsessed with this show so I’m not familiar with its history and such. Honestly took me a minute to realize there was another judge because sometimes his and chris’ voice and criticism sound similar. But then I remember watching a few episodes forever ago and knew there had to be three. How would they be able to judge with only two 🤦♂️ lol. All caught up now though.

The big problem with this show, is that the judges will set a challenge, but then the canvases will want something entirely different. What are you meant to do? Ignore the canvas's requests?
