This was such a fun project to work on. I really enjoyed collaborating with Blake and working together to bring this thing to life. We coordinated our separate efforts and then were able to unite and work together to see the pursuit in motion. More than anything, I love it when a plan comes together.
I can’t thank Blake enough for asking me to join the project and for the wonderful hospitality that the McFarland family provided me for a week. This was a dream collaboration and I can’t wait to see if there is something else we could make in the future… What else could we make?

A wolf chasing a deer, or grizzly chasing a baby elk since he likes doing bears maybe. It would be much harder though cause you would have to engineer a way for the legs to love along with the body. But I got faith in ya you've done harder stuff before

Amazing work. This collab brought me so much fascination and mirth. I was thinking of an Otter family playing with a fish in seaweed. Momma teaching the pups how to fish. Seaweed waving with currents. Maybe a little bioluminescence in seaweed. Jelly fish floating in the water. Or... The "alien" popping out of Bishops belly.

An interesting sculpture you could make is to make a coral reef with fish and stuff, then pour epoxy over it, then carv out the epoxy to the shape of a fish, whale, shark, jellyfish, octopus or something, so that it looks like an animal with a coral reef inside.

The shark was awesome to watch you give shape to, and then the motion made it come alive. The seal, though, brought me so much joy. I feel like the seal is a smug little fellow, darting and staying just ahead of the shark, playing. Meanwhile, the shark is all patience, stealth and silent strength and subtlety, biding its time with the hope that persistence will see the seal slip up.

Learnt something new in this episode. If you want to find out a tree specie then what you do is 1. Sniff it 2. Observe it, then 3. Give it a taste - These three steps will give you the correct specie as well as the year it first began it’s life. Who knew aye 😂😂

I've got artists in my family. My maternal grandmother did oils on canvas and my aunt on my dad's side worked mostly with acrylics. I've always tended to like sculpture. I just think there's "more" to it than a flat painting could ever be. But you've raised it to a whole new level. practically bringing the sculpture to life. If I had the money I'd build a room with this as the centerpiece.

I just watched grown men pour their engineering degrees and probably decades worth of combined trade knowledge into a wooden shark toy with nifty wiggling abilities. Seeing that laser beam thrash around with all the accuracy of a Star Wars Stormtrooper had me laughing out loud. This is the most sophisticated combination of "children at heart" and "boys and their toys" that I've ever seen 😂❤🦈

Every time you mention how blown away you are by the mechanics and engineering, I can't help but imagine how many minute calculations you did in your own mind to carve angles, facets, and curves and then the experience and artistry required to smooth and sand that much wood to have it looking so amazing. In appreciating someone else's expertise you realise how long it must take to get to the point of mastery.

Outstanding piece as expected. As a scuba diver, that ominous serpentine movement is nearly perfect. This coming from a guy thats been up close. One personal note if I may. Many years ago I created a giant redwood puzzle I called Quest. it was officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's largest mechanical puzzle. To the point... I created a mountain of wood chips and saw dust doing it and was approached by the owner of a dog kennel. He wanted it for bedding for his dogs. Maybe thats an option for your waste material? Thanks for the video. I'm never disappointed.

This made my eyes water-it’s so beautiful! You should reach out to museums and oceanographic institutes! I think they would be thrilled to buy this. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution comes to mind. Wow! I’m completely gobsmacked. Well done!

I love the dynamic between you two we have math, science, 3-D printing, and then we have found a big stick and I made it into a big fish with a tiny chainsaw. Truly, the perfect combination❤

Hey I'm a long time bespoke post customer but I'm also a huge fan of this artist and an even bigger fan of new artists. The selection of wood is exquisite, as is an artist that appreciates wood to begin with. I'm just so fascinated with this! Thank you I suppose

The only words I can come with is awesome project. The wood chosen is incredible. The fluidity of the mechanism is naturally flowing.

I have watched a bunch of your videos, but this is by far my favorite! I am stunned by how well this turned out, and the effort that went into this. In a world that routinely settles for "good enough," you two have shown that there is room for extraordinary excellence! Seriously, I don't know how you can "top this." But, I will eagerly awaiting. . .

Beautiful sculpture from wood. Who knew a shark and seal were hiding in the wood. Excellent work in capturing the look and movement of a shark and poor seal.

I live in Florida and there's a MOSI museum in Tampa where they have all kinds of science stuff that people can interact with. This would be perfect there. Or even inside an aquarium, like Sea World, the centerpiece of their entry lobby.

There’s nothing better than seeing a Man doing what’s in his DNA, creating. And his beautiful family beside him doing what they do best, raising kids and supporting their Dad. Now that’s America!

Hi Blake I enjoyed watching you carve out the 4 ft shark. You have a great skill carving out this shark. To see you getting to the part where it got to the part where it got attached to Travises gearing system then adding a seal next to it was fantastic a great piece for someone to own.Keep up the good work Blake and Travis.
